Weekend Make-Up Menu…

Weekend Makeup Menu

One of the MANY things I love about the weekend is the ability to get ready at my own pace. Saturday morning is my time to pamper, preen and play with the new makeup purchases I’ve treated myself to over the previous week… this Saturday was no exception! With no alarm in ear shot, I padded down stairs at 9:30 am (an utter treat than the usual 5 am start), re-fuelled on poached eggs & sipped on a cup of sweet tea before heading back to the boudoir for a looooong hot shower & rummage through my makeup collection! Here’s the menu ladies…

Fresh & Prep

 DSC00628

Simple Micellar Water: My freshly showered face may be squeaky clean but a quick wipe with this removes any left over residue. It’s also super kind to my very sensitive skin & packed full of great nourishing vitamins.

Olay Toner: This is undoubtedly my favourite skincare product of all time. It pulls a multitude of grimy sins deep from the pores and leaves your face feeling sparkly clean & toned… not to mention the aaaahhmazing scent.

Lush Lip Scrub: Does exactly what it says on the tin teeny jar. This yummy tasting scrub is great for removing a nasty build-up of dead skin… leaving your lips feeling pucker perfect!

W7 Lip Bomb: Considering I’m a self confessed balm-addict I always have a multitude of products to reach for but NONE as moisturising and long lasting as this little egg of excellence. Seemingly a dupe for the EOS range I’d highly recommend you try this gals – your lips with love you for it!

No 7 Beautifully Matte Foundation: Saturday was my first day using this foundation which is specifically designed for full coverage on oily complexions. I’m pretty new to the party when it comes to trying the No 7 range so I’ll keep you all posted on how it transpires with a future updated review ladies… so far so good 😉

Real Techniques Stippling Brush: Okay so it’s not an actually product but this pretty little wonder-brush deserves a gracious shout out. If you’re desperate for an airbrushed finish this will more than happily accommodate. It’s an essential for any make-up maven!

Rimmel Sunkissed Bronzer: Not only do I adore swirling my Real Techniques blusher brush in the GINORMOUS casing, the pay off of this bronzer is beautiful. It’s not too harsh for my pale skin and is totally buildable for a warm and dazzling glow.

Bourjois Cream Blush in Rose Tender: This simply adds a subtle pop of pink on the apples of my cheeks giving a fresh and dewy finish to the look. I LOVE IT!

Barry M Shape & Define Brow Kit: This gorgeous little brow kit recently featured in my monthly favourites *click here to watch* and since investing a mere £5 on it from Superdrug I’ve been blown away by the difference it’s made to my brow-scape. It shapes, defines and darkens any patchy areas leaving your brows looking HD ready!

Urban Decay NAKED 3 Palette: C’mon, who doesn’t adore this amazing selection of rose tinted shadows?! Okay, it may be a tad on the pricey side (rrp £38) but it’s well worth the investment. Oh, and don’t forget to enter my Giveaway comp where you could win your choice of NAKED palette *click here* for more info!

Rimmel Glam Eyes: I love this liquid liner however the tiny little applicator really does take a major steady hand to master! Considering I was all out of my usual fav (MUA Liquid Liner) I have to say I’m a total Rimmel convert.

Model & Co Mascara: The latest copy of Glamour Mag is out ladies & not only is it a special price issue (a mere £1) but it also comes with a complimentary choice of either Eye Liner, Mascara or Lip Gloss from Model Co cosmetics. The mascara won hands down and I have to say (for a freebie) it’s really rather impressive! Whad’ya think ladies?

Eyelash Curlers: Even though my lashes REFUSE point blankly to hold a curl 99% of the time, it still doesn’t stop me from incorporating my curlers as part of my eye décor routine. Okay so they aren’t the most lavish set however I’m holding out for a set of Shu Uemura’s *sigh*

Urban Decay Primer: Considering my NAKED 3 palette was purchased at Christmas I’m aghast there’s any product in the complimentary primer pods left… you need so little of the stuff it lasts for ages! Today I’m wearing ‘SIN’, a shimmery formula that will keep the shadow blend looking fresh & totally crease free.

Lips

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Picnic In The Park: Seeing as most of today’s look focuses around the eyes I though I’d keep the lips simple with a wash of Tanya’s gorgeous gloss in this soft nude-pink tone.

W7 Lip Bomb: Before I apply any gloss I usually add a little swipe of this balm, I find it helps the longevity of the gloss and enhances the overall look!

Sunday Shenanigans…

Sunday Shenanigans

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Yaaaay for a brand new month! I always get excited for March arriving as sunny spring is just peeking round the corner… time to clear out the closet and relish in a whole new season of adventures.

How was your weekend? Did I miss anything? We had one of the quietest 48 hours in a loooong time. Forget a pj day, it was more like a full weekend of lounging around doing absolutely nothing apart from recharging our batteries… I even managed to close the laptop for (most) of the duration too – I know, shocking right?!

However come Sunday morning I woke with a huge urge to spring out of bed and fill my lungs with some fresh salty sea air by taking a lovely dander along our local beach. Considering the sun was streaming in through the cracks of the blinds it would’ve been a shame not to take advantage of such a gorgeous morning – anything to get out in a bit of much needed sunshine.

Tottering down the stairs semi-ready for my seaside dander, Steve was busy working away in the kitchen… he’d gotten up early to prepare a yummy Sunday lunch and had the entire house cleaned from one end to the other. Seeing as I usually tackle most of the cooking it was such a welcomed break and a great feeling having absolutely nothing to do… so Ems’ and I grabbed our coats and headed out for a bit of fresh air whilst Steve stayed at home sipping his coffee and pre-booking the all important Ireland v England rugby game (that would undoubtedly exercise my vocal chords)

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to take a few piccies of our little Sunday shenanigans to share with you guys…

Sunday Dinner

Yep, photographic evidence that a huge Sunday lunch was all prepared by my very own head-chef. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy eating it… what a lucky lady 🙂

Spring Flowers

On our way out the front door I noticed (for the 1st time I must add) my little spring flowers have made an appearance meaning it’s ‘almost’ time to shed the winter woollies *happy dance*

Emma and Karen

So we made the 45 second walk to the breezy shores (yes we live that close!) and I have to say that although my teeny little spring flowers are in full bloom I’ll not be hanging up my chunky knits just yet… it was SO cold but worth the teeth chattering!

Beach 6

Searching for little weird shaped pebbles (preferably heart ones) to add to Emma’s collection of seaside memorabilia she has stored in various places, including a little pile by the front door and a jar full of shells in the bathroom. Love seaside life ❤

Beach 3

Time for a dander along the shoreline… so good for clearing your thoughts and unbelievably therapeutic. Any time I feel my anxiety playing up a walk along the beach always helps calms me down. Everyone needs a bitta beach in their lives 😉

Beach 4

I don’t care what anyone says, no matter what age you are you can’t resist playing catch with the waves… even if it means squelching home in soggy gym shoes! Thankfully I have a 9 year old daughter I can excuse my childish Tom foolery on *rolls eyes*

Beach 2   Beach 5

Tide well on it’s way out, getting windy and cold…

Beach 8

A windswept Em’s

Beach 9

Homeward bound for some tea & warmth by the fire.

Did you do anything exciting this weekend, or like us did you spend it chillaxing? As always thanks so much for reading, do say a quick hello in the comments below, you know how much I enjoy a little chatter! Happy March y’all 🙂

My Weekend In Pictures…

My Weekend In Picture

Happy Monday Beauty Buddies…

Did you all enjoy the weekend? I have to admit, mine was super special and in honour of having such a great time I thought I’d share it with you guys *woo hoo* So here’s a snippet of my weekend in pictures…

Friday Night:

 Steve & Karen

Seeing as Steve and I aren’t huge fans of celebrating Valentines by hitting by town, we usually opt for having a little extra special date night at home together. Since I was attending a pre-booked showing of Fifty Shades of Grey with my sister on Saturday night, we decided to move our mini valentines celebrations to Friday instead (I know, I’ve such a great hubby eh!?) which thankfully worked out just as perfect as we’d planned!

Much to my surprise, Steve pulled out all the stops and wowed me with a gorgeous candle lit meal for the both of us which went down an absolute treat for our rumbling tums – a creamy coconut infused chicken curry with a medley of mixed veg… nom!!

Valentine combo 1

Funnily enough both of us had agreed not to buy anything… however we’re obviously a pair of rebels as we surprised each other with a few sneaky little goodies – which also handily served as a yummy dessert 😉 I’m such a lucky lady, he really is amazing!

Saturday:

Saturday afternoon was spent mulling over a comfy but smart casual outfit choice for a girls night out to Fifty Shades of Mortification Grey. Usually after an hour of sitting in the cinema I’m either wilting like a dried flower or teeth-chatteringly cold (thanks to the indecisive air con system) all whilst battling the ill-effects of numb bum *sigh*  So I decided to play it safe with light layers, warm jeans, comfy leather flats and a few of my fav accessories such as cute owl earring, my ‘Miranda’ bag from Accessorize *swoon* and of course my signature scent of the season – Miss Dior by Dior

All that was left to do was raid my make-up collection for some glam inspiration…

 Outfit Combo

Leah convinced me to swap my ‘safe & boring’ lip gloss for some sassy MUA red-lippy instead. It would seem that meeting Mr Grey is the perfect opportunity to break out a sultry lip look *raised eyebrow* I admit, it’s not a colour I wear often (simply because I feel I’m wayyyy too pale to pull it off) however here’s the final result:

Finally… all ready for Mr Grey!

Karen Ready

So there you have it girls (most of) my weekend in pictures! I’m afraid Sunday is a bit of a lazy day in the Rees household so apart from yawning, reading, writing and eating things that are disgracefully bad for my waistline, there wasn’t very much else to take pictures off… lucky you eh?!

So what did you get up to this weekend? Were you out painting the town red or curled up on the sofa enjoying a cosy night in?

As always thanks for reading & don’t forget to say hi in the comments below! You all know by now how much I enjoy a good chatter 🙂

Cheerio chums…
