Behind The Blog… featuring Mecia from Not Quite London

Not Quite London

Hello you gorgeous bunch…

I always look forward to a Tuesday considering that it’s the first Behind The Blog of the week *woo hoo* Recently, so many of you have been leaving such super-duper messages of utterly loveliness (for lack of appropriate wording) as to how much you’re enjoying meeting new blog buddies through this series. Have you any idea how much that fills my heart with joy?! Well, it does – a whole lot in fact, but alas, as much as I’d love to take ALL the credit *greedy laugh & wringing of hands* it’s actually down to you amazing lot for getting involved and making it the success it is. So thank YOU… yes each and every one of you who’s been involved or getting involved. It really is huuugely appreciated and I’m just so thrilled new chums are meeting through it = mission accomplished! If you want to be part of it too then *click here* for more info… we’d love to hear from you so don’t be shy! 🙂

However today’s budding blogger is the delightful Mecia over at Not Quite London… this is one highly talented young lady as not only is she in the throws of becoming a qualified Beauty Therapist she’s also a wonderful blogger who regularly graces our readers with original and interesting topics that are fun and very often informative to read. She’s also incredibly interactive, something I personally adore in a fellow blogger… there’s nothing quite like some great chatter amongst us cosmetic cravers!

So enough from me, get your cuppa ready and settle down to find out more about Mecia, today’s gal Behind The Blog

Mecia

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Beauty

Enthusiasm

Lots of personality

Make up

Fun

.

What inspired you to start blogging?

My obsession passion for makeup, skincare and beauty as a whole. I bore my boyfriend everyday with it, so I thought I would bore you guys instead share with people that had the same interests as me. I didn’t want to be judged or having to explain why I needed 4 lipsticks of the same colour……..he would never understand.

Every day there is something new to blog about, I take inspiration mainly from magazines and my weekly trips to Superdrug.

 .

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

My blog name is just a play on the fact that I live in London but I’m not actually from here originally. The name was actually my boyfriend’s idea, so I can’t take any credit for that. I thought it was a pretty awesome name and quite quirky.

.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

Yes! On a daily basis and it’s beyond frustrating. Some days I can blog for hours, but other days my brain just doesn’t want to play. On these occasions I tend to switch off for a bit and just read. Reading relaxes me, I find it so therapeutic. Majority of the time this is all I need in order to break down the Blogger’s Block.

 .

What’s your favourite post to date?

My favourite post to date is definitely the one about my visit to the Dermalogica HQ.

http://notquitelondon.com/2015/02/25/my-trip-to-dermalogica-hq/

It was such a fun day and I learned so much……………I hardly slept the night before as I was so excited.

.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

I’m a jeans girl. I have lots of pairs but somehow I always end up using the same pair over and over again (in between washes, obviously).

I am obsessed with jumpers and knee high boots……………………I have way too many and every winter I end up buying even more.

.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Concealer

Nude lipstick

Perfume

I carry these 3 items with me every day and have spares in different bags. *maybe the boyfriend was right about the addiction*

 .

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

I actually find writing my blog helps me to unwind. I normally tend to write a few posts as soon as I get in from work. 16hour of stress slowly melts away…….

.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

Saturday nights are all about staying in with a face mask, surrounded by candles, and stuffing my face with salted caramel popcorn in front of a movie.

10 years ago my answer would’ve been very different………

 .

What do you do to relax?

I find it hard to relax as my brain never seems to shut off. However I find reading in my pj’s very relaxing. Failing that, a nice hot bath does the trick too.

.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

My worst habit is definitely being a worrier. I am constantly stressed because I worry about everything. My mum is exactly the same, so I have her to thank for that unfortunately.

 .

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

Our family picnics up in the mountains. We used to go every Sunday and it was the best thing in the world. There were no mobiles, no technology at all. Just lots of fresh air and blue skies.

We used to bring board games, blankets and lots of food. We only went home when the sun went down…………pure heaven and the best times of my life.

.

What was your favourite school subject?

I loved English. Essay writing and reading books for homework was my idea of heaven.

Reading is still something I do on a regular basis.

 .

What’s your dream job?

I don’t have a dream job exactly. I want to branch out into the beauty industry, and do a job that puts a smile on my face every single morning.

.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Having my own beauty salon would be a dream. However I would love to buy a house with my partner so I’m hoping that in 5 years’ time we’l be homeowners…….and a salon owner too.

 .

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Visit Thailand

Swim with dolphins

Visit New York at Christmas

Get married

Go to a Ed Sheeran gig

 .

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Starting my blog is something that I am very proud off. I put it on hold for so long, that to finally have it out in the open and being received so well by everyone makes me feel incredibely proud. It’s a huge achievement as its been a dream of mine for so long

 .

Who inspires you?

My mum. She was a single parent with 2 kids.

She worked her ass out to make sure we never went without, and she always did it with a beautiful smile on her face.

She inspires me every day………even more so when she is on one of her many cruise trips, while I’m working my ass out.

 .

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

I love Dr Seuss quotes. SO weird yet so true.

Dr Seuss Quote

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Just go for it. I waited a whole year before I had the guts to click the publish button………….it was scary but so worth it.

Write down some ideas of what you want your blog to be about, colour scheme and overall image.

Stay true to yourself and write about what you love.

Its such a fun experience, so don’t forget to enjoy it.

  3. Oh what a lovely Begind the Blog this week!
Happy to hear you are on team kitten and as for the beauty addiction…maybe we should start a support group.
Love the bucket list but one little tip: dolphins might seem cute but they are suddenly quite big when you are about to get in the water with them. An amazing experience though, once you get over the initial scare 😉
