2017 Goals… Bring It On!

new-year-goals-and-resolutions-2017

Firstly it has to be said… Happy New Year folks!

As much as I hate starting off with what you’ve probably seen COUNTLESS times on social media the past few days, it’s still customary to wish virtually every person you come into contact with a joyful start (to what’s often referred to as) ‘the new chapter’. Oddly enough I’m a bit of a weirdo when it comes to the ‘new chapter’ thing – in fact, I’d prefer a whole ‘new book’ instead. I tend to live my life in volumes rather than chapters, so it seems much more exciting starting a whole new book that just another page; but that’s coming straight from the mouth (or keyboard) of a self-confessed stationery addict, who has more notebooks under her roof than socks, knickers and bras combined. Shameful? Not at all… who needs undies anyways 😉

However, one thing I do appreciate is setting goals. I’m done with the ‘resolutions’ as quite often (in fact, every time) I don’t manage to stick to them. There’s NEVER been a year I can look back on and say “Ahhh I kicked the ass clean outta my New Years Resolutions… I’ve lost weight, bought a house, kicked my fizzy drink habit…” blah blah blah… you get the drift. So instead of setting resolutions, this year, I’m setting goals instead.

new-years-eve-resolutions

Now you may be questioning ‘what’s the difference between resolutions & goals?’. Well, I was pondering that very same thing a few days ago and came to no conclusive answer either… apart from resolutions being something we tend to do from the word go. For example, waking up on the 1st January and not consuming one droplet of fizzy stuff or emptying the house of all choccies & insisting the diet starts today. Goals, however, are more gentle… they comfort you by being something you’re reaching for. You may be still consuming Fanta next Friday but by mid-March who knows? You see? Much more gentle, right? I’ll just pretend you’re nodding rather than rolling your eyes of course.

SO – in honour of loving a fresh start (just as much as I adore packing away a living room full of Christmas dust collectors) here’s my GOALS for the next 12 months…

.

GET HEALTHY – How utterly original huh? But it has to be said, I think we’re all on the boat to Health-Ville come 1st January. Usually, the all-inclusive trip lasts for a few weeks (a month if we’re really persistent) BUT like I say this is a goal, NOT a resolution, so maybe by July I’ll be enjoying bountiful bowls of rocket drizzled in some obscure skinny sauce that tastes like out-dated lemon juice. However, swapping a Tunnocks Mallow for a dry slice of Ryvita is out of the question girls.

.

BE MORE ACTIVE ON SOCIAL MEDIA – I say this almost every year (as with getting healthy and it seems to be having the opposite effect). I’m STILL not getting the whole Instagram thing. The rush hasn’t hit, nor has the desire to post pictures of random items for no solid reason other than gaining a few new followers. Is it just me or am I the only user that see’s it this way? Hmm, maybe my new phone will change all that considering the camera is super-duper fabulous compared to my last little pensioner iPhone 4. Maybe I’m not using the filters enough? Or hash-tagging the contents of the Oxford dictionary. I’ll carefully revise these methods and report back. Actually, come to think of it I need to be more active in general – let’s cut the bull and include this in all areas of life. Much better.

.

WORK ON A SCHEDULE – Ever since I’ve been lumbered with the aches and pains of a 109-year-old, my schedule has gone to pot. In fact, on my worse days, I couldn’t even tell you what day of the week it is let alone what I’m supposed to be doing or where I’m supposed to be going. However, having invested in a fancy-schmancy organiser (that I’m slightly obsessed with) I’m determined to stay grounded and make a rude finger gesture to my Fibro, Arthritis, Lupus or whatever the feck they think it is *rolls eyes*

.

DRINK MORE WATER – Here we are back at the consumption stage again. As you can tell I have a slight ‘problem’ with anything that’s not carbonated, however, that being said I’m trialling squashes mixed with fizzy water – which I feel is a MAAHOOOSIVE step for me. These people that love water (and make such a blatant show of it by carrying their Evian bottles round like a Michael Kors clutch) fill me with a sense of curiosity. Are they REALLY enjoying the taste of nothingness OR is it simply a health-conscious fashion accessory? Perhaps it’s psychological trickery of the mind to feel healthier? The jury’s still out, but damn it I’m determined to actually somehow kick my fizzy habit… and waft about with my own little bottle of Evian one of these days – but with the goal of actually drinking the contents of course 😉

.

KEEP ABOVE IN PLAIN SIGHT – I always think that writing a New Years’ blog post is more than enough to keep me topped up in enthusiasm, but when the comments trail off and the memory fades, quite often so does the desire to keep the goals alive. So with that in mind, these will be appearing on bill boards (aka the fridge & bedroom mirror) located throughout the Confetti & Curves HQ. Just to remind me what the heck I’m actually aiming for.

We’ve got this girls 😉

.

Are you making any New Years Goals? What would you like to achieve in 2017? Let me know in the comments below – who knows, I may even extend my above list through the adopted inspiration of others!

HAPPY NEW YEAR CHUMS!!!

Why It’s OKAY To Take A Blogging Break…

taking-a-blogging-break

A few months ago, the thought of taking a short break from blogging left me riddled with guilt. For over two years I’ve poured my heart and soul into rolling up my sleeves to scribe (what I hope are) engaging blog posts, edit creatively styled photographs & have spent countless hours banging an impatient fist on my desk at the painstaking task of video editing – trust me my poor hand has came off so much worse than my videos usually did *sigh*

However a few weeks ago I was faced with the dilemma of either taking a short-term blogging break or running myself into some sort form of breakdown… considering I’ve already more grey hairs than I can shake a Garnier bottle at I decided on an extended blog holiday instead! So I slipped myself into the background to get a whole host of things tied up, rearranged, planned and not to mention the ongoing health battles that are forever a pain in my existence. Little did I know I was slowly but surely burning myself out… in fact, it TOOK a blogging break for me to realise just how much I pressure I was putting on myself without even realising it.

As much as I initially wandered the floors with a cloud of guilt looming over my head, after a few days I loosened up and slowly began to busy myself with all the things that have been cluttering up my to do list. One thing I will say, is that although I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my blogging break I have reeeeeally missed my online community of blog buddies. It’s great to be back but for anyone who’s currently mulling over the prospect of a blogging break here’s a few reasons why you shouldn’t hold back or let guilt deny you a virtual jolly hol…

.

1) Time to simmer your creative juices.

Regardless of how much of a super-human blogger you may seem, just like any mere mortal we’re not pre-programmed with an abundant flow of creativity. Writers block and running out of steam can end up making your blog lack it’s orignal sparkle. So if you feel you’re losing your mojo then it’s time to step away for the keyboard until you’re ready to bedazzle your audience once again!

.

2) Get some life order.

Like a bazillion other bloggers out there I can’t just spend my days glued to the laptop screen conjuring up my next batch of posts – as much as I’d want to of course! I’m a mum, a wife, I have family commitments, my health etc etc. We ALL have ‘stuff’ outside of the virtual realms – a vacay really helps to focus on getting that other ‘stuff’ done without the pangs of guilt from not hitting the ‘publish’ button. It also enabled ME to see the busiest external areas in my life and work my blogging around my other commitments.

.

3) Helps reassess your blog path.

Hmm, this sounds a little deep, however, it’s true. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been really assessing where I want to go with my blog and what I want to do with it. Right now I’m in the throws of organising a mass of stuff for Liquid Glamour, planning for college refresher courses next year, as well as testing a variety of new products I’ve been sent. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE blogging but I feel it needs to reflect & tie in with exactly where I am in life at the moment. People change, evolve, move on etc. I adore Confetti & Curves dearly but my blogging break helped me consider important things like rebranding and how to move forward with content that’s a little more relevant to my present circumstances.

.

4) Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Just because you step away from your blog for a while doesn’t mean you stop thinking about it all together, in fact, for me, it had the completely opposite effect. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to wondering if indeed it was getting any views, comments or if it had just disappeared into the blogosphere with a stat count emptier that a chocolate advent calendar on boxing day. I’ve built such great friendships throughout my blogging journey – it’s amazing just how much you miss the community and what a great feel it is stepping back into the arena from a short break. There’s nothing that warms the heart more that the ‘Welcome Back!!’ messages when logging on for a chat – it’s food for the soul!

.

5) YOU time.

It’s so easy to forget the one thing that makes a blog the thriving little corner of the internet that it is – YOU. You take a break from school, work and even just a holiday from life in general so why not the same for your blog? Blogging can be bizarrely addictive but if we’re not careful it’s easy to get sucked into a routine of churning out post-after-post. A break from blogging & social media can be just as refreshing as a holiday itself and can really help you evaluate if the amount of effort you’re pouring into your blog works with your lifestyle. Thankfully for me, blogging is simply a hobby – it’s not a means of income or a full time job. However, IF that was the case my uniform would probably be a pair of pj’s and slipper socks… now there’s a life goal to aim for hehe 😉

blogging-break-1

Have you thought about taking a blogging break? Maybe it’s something you’ve done in the past? Are you a blogger that often feels guilty about taking time away from your blog? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below.

Ps: Oh and one last thing – GEE I’VE MISSED YOU GUYS!!! 😀

1000 YouTube Subscribers… THANK YOU!!!

fireworks-1a

SO, I’m casually browsing around the interwebs this morning and to my shock and surprise discover that 1000 of you fabulous folk have subscribed to my little corner of YouTube! Naturally, such a revelation caused for celebrating with a mars bar square and cup of tea… aren’t I just the modern day party animal!!

So thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! All those that have taken the time to stop by my channel, watch a video, leave a comment, hit the like button and of course (the golden ticket) subscribe. Like most YouTubers, taking the plunge to launch a channel wasn’t an easy step – my nerves were as solid as grated cheese as beads of sweat lashed from my forehead at the mere thought of a nasty comment (I’ve had a few but life goes on)… isn’t the block button a wonderful invention chums?! 😉

Thinking back to my very first video I almost cringe at how horrendously nervous I was. Revealing my blog to friends and family was one thing, but actually putting myself out there on YouTube was something else as a whole new world of realisation dawned… it isn’t like taking a selfie; you can’t sit still and hope for the best angle… everything is on show! Looks, personality, surroundings. Not that I’m in any way ashamed of myself, how I act or the home I live in – but there’s always that looming fear that some nasty critter stumbles across your channel and leaves a horrid comment that will make you hibernate below a duvet for months on end, pondering how on earth to rectify a smashed confidence. Thankfully that hasn’t been the case. If anything I’m more confident now than I’ve ever been about myself… at the end of the day, I’m a mere mortal, just like everyone else. I’ve good days/bad days/crappier than crap days but also days that I’m unbelievably thankful for what I’ve achieved in building my self-belief. Isn’t it amazing the influence a bunch of people who you’ve never met (and scattered all over the world) can make in building such positivity in your life?! Every time I’ve reached a blogging or YouTube goal it’s because of the support of others (aka YOU guys) and that’s something I’m incredibly grateful for.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m under no illusion that 1000 subscribers is a mere spec of dust on the moon compared to other channels – but for me, it’s a HUGE milestone. So once again THANK YOU blog buddies – for being not only the biggest part of my blogging journey but also my YouTube one too!

The Beauty Collective…. What Do YOU Wanna Know?

the-beauty-collective-intro

Fancy taking part in something exciting? Course ya do!

Wanna interact with others? Meet new blog buddies? Find out what makes your fellow bloggers tick? Then why not roll up your creative sleeves and take part in an exciting new mini-series The Beauty Collective!

the-beauty-collective

Okay, bit of a back story for those of you who’s ears are perked and eyes are peeled… As you can see (up along the menu bar on Confetti & Curves) there’s an intriguing little tab entitled ‘Behind The Blog‘ – this was a series of fun weekly interviews that a whooooole host of fabulous bloggers took part in over a two-year period. The point of it? To allow the rest of us nosey bloggers to learn a little more about you & your fabulous corner of the interweb.

Of course after taking a break from Behind The Blog I’ve been inundated with emails from new bloggers asking if it’ll be making a return. However, fear not my little computer companions as it’s high time we started afresh  – and YOU have control in choosing the questions.

SO, in a digital nutshell, I’m inviting you lovely lot to submit a burning question you’ve been itching to ask other bloggers… this can be anything like:

‘How obsessed are you with your stats?’

‘Are you a self-confessed blog-stalker?’

‘What made you start blogging?’

‘Where do you see your blog in 5 years time?’

‘What ticks you off the most about blogging?’

‘How do you organise your blog schedule?’

(…and lots of other blog & beauty related questions)

.

A list of chosen questions will be compiled into a questionnaire and used as a great way to get to know fellow beauty bloggers. Sounds simple? Thought so 😉

pink heart

For those eagerly waiting to take part, feel free to submit a question and if YOU would like to be a featured blogger on The Beauty Collective leave your details in the comments below & I’ll be in touch with more info very shortly.

Howdy Chums…

Yippee, it’s the first Sunday of October – and you know what that means… autumn is officially here, AS is the countdown to ‘Trick or Treating’ too 😀 *dramatic cackle* When I was a little girl, Halloween was probably my favourite time of year. There was something so exciting about dressing up in ghoulish costumes and scaring yourself witless with local ghost stories etc. Now I tend to look forward to the fireworks, pumpkin carving and curling up with a DVD; namely Hocus Pocus, which never fails to amuse me – even into my 30’s! Are you a fan of Halloween, or like my hubby do you consider it just another day of the year? *eye roll*

As for today, well I’ve a few things on the agenda – firstly a huge mug of tea followed by a good read of my favourite glossy mag ‘Glamour’. It seems like forever since I’ve sat down and spent some time flicking through the pages, cooing over all the makeup goodies and reading the fun articles. I’m also hoping to get a little filming done as unfortunately my aches and pains put a ginormous scupper on my schedule this week – so keeping fingers crossed I gather up the energy for a beauty chatter today! What’s your plans?

As always if you’re starting the day off with a dose of blog reading then why not take a peek at some of the shenanigans that’s been happening here on Confetti & Curves the past few days…

Celebrating 2000 Blog Subscribers!!!!!!!!!!!!

2000-subscribers

2000 Subscribers?! How the HECK did that happen?!

When I first started Confetti & Curves never in my dreams did I imagine I’d be celebrating a whopping 2000 subscribers of my blog… in fact I still remember the rush of adrenaline when I hit my first 100 followers – I literally couldn’t believe that amount of people would want to check out my little corner of the interweb.

This blog has been such a lifeline & to me for so many reasons; it’s helped me through days I’ve felt totally broken, it’s kept me focused on putting my energy into something positive when I’ve been riddled with anxiety, I’ve made friends from all over the world that will indeed stay friends for many years to come, I’ve worked with some fantastic brands, tested some great (and not so great) beauty products, but most importantly I’ve been SO warmly welcomed into such an amazing online community.

So from the bottom of my heart… THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU – not just for hitting the subscribe/follow button, but for hanging around to say hello, checking out previous features, for leaving me the most uplifting & encouraging comments and just being an amazing bunch of online buddies.

SO….. keep your eyes peeled for a super duper giveaway to celebrate as a great big thank you for hanging around… don’t forget you can *Click Here* to subscribe to the Confetti & Curves YouTube channel so you never miss an upload too! Howdy Chums…

Have y’all had a fab weekend so far? Mine has been lovely, really really lovely. Not gonna lie this past few weeks have been a slight test of character but having spent a wonderful night in with great friends I’m smiling from a night of laughs and great banter. Best of all, I won’t end up with a banging headache considering I’ve spent the night sipping on organic elder-flower spritz to was down our yummy takeaway. It’s nights like this I thoroughly enjoy, no dressing up, no tottering around the town in aching heels and no waiting in the cold for taxi’s. Just slipper socks and great company! Maybe I’m showing my age but I adore nights in waaaayyy more than nights out – a sign I’m getting complacent or comfy? Who cares… as long as I’m having fun, right? 😀

As always, if you fancy catching up with this weeks shenanigans on Confetti & Curves then why not check out a few of the posts below! If you’ve a blog feature you’d like us to check out then by all means feel free to leave the link in the comments too…

Get To Know Me…

Get To Know Me TAG

It’s FRIIIIIDAY…

There’s always a jolly feeling about Fridays, I love it – if only that could be bottled and sprinkled on some of the other days it would be bliss 😉 So the weekend is here, what are your plans? I’m (hoping) to dust off the barbecue and bask in the glorious sunshine – under my parasol of course! hehe Keeping fingers and toes crossed that this glorious flip-flop weather continues chums ❤

However onto today’s shenanigans… a huuuuge thank you to our lovely Laura over at Polka Dot Teapot for nominating me to take part in this fun questionnaire/tag. It’s been many moons since I’ve tackled one of these, so to get back to what feels like retro blogging I thought I’d give it a go. Why not eh? I’ve also nominated a few special blog buddies of my own to take part 😉

.

What is your middle name?

Heidi

.

What was your favourite subject at school?

English Literature. I had the most loveliest teacher who was both smart and funny – plus, we got to read books for most of the class. What could be a better way to pass an hour?!

.

What is your favourite drink?

Overall Coca Cola, however if I’m indulging in a little tipple I’d most certainly opt for West Coast Cooler, which is a very yummy fruit flavoured spritzer!

.

What is your favourite song at the moment?

I’m shocking when it comes to keeping up with music trends, though the artists I listen to most would be Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Ray & Taylor Swift. Love a catchy wee tune to warble along too.

.

What’s your favourite food?

I looooove Chinese. Noodles with veg are most definitely my thing!

.

What is the last thing you bought?

A pack of heavy duty kitchen rolls. Yes, my spending habits are that exciting.

.

Favourite book of all time?

Oooh this changes so often but I reckon pretty much anything from Marian Keyes – in fact I’ve just finished Under The Duvet and it was fantastic!! Hilarious!! She’s the only author that can make me laugh and cry all in one chapter.

.

What is your favourite colour?

Although I keep *trying* to convince myself it’s ‘raspberry’ I notice that pretty much everything I buy is white or neutral. I’m clearly colour confuddled.

.

Do you any pets?

A beagle boy called Toby, a Tuxedo moggy called Gomez and a Mainecoon kitten called Boris!

.

Favourite perfume?

Has to be DKNY. Beautiful, fresh and very distinctive.

.

Favourite holiday?

I find that really hard to narrow down as every holiday I’ve been on has been special for different reasons. However I’ve whittled it down to a few:

Portrush: This is where we went as children every year with mum & dad. So many happy memories with my siblings… just a regular seaside town with amusements & souvenir shops, but as kids we thought it was amazing.

Disneyland Paris: Again another family holiday & the first time my gran travelled on a plane. Paris was freezing cold & eye-wateringly overpriced but it was worth it for the experience.

Ibiza: My first ‘girls only’ holiday. Needless to say we stayed away from the notorious San Antonio. A whole week of feeling totally chilled out, shopping at hippy markets & enjoying cocktails on the beach. Amazing.

The Lake District: Our honeymoon spot. The sun shone for all 7 days we were there and only started to rain when we were getting ready to drive back home! What a week sight seeing in gorgeous rural England.

.

Are you married?

Yep, and very happily at that too 😀

.

Have you ever been out of the country, if so how many times?

Just a few times on holiday, otherwise I’m a home bird.

.

Do you speak any other language?

A teeny bit of French… but that’s dating back to GCSE so it’s beyond rusty now.

.

How many siblings do you have?

I’ve two fantastic brothers (Curtis & Kirk) and my lovely little sis Leah!

.

What is your favourite shop?

Boots. Or pretty much anywhere that sells makeup for me to gawp at for a few hours.

.

Favourite restaurant?

Blue Chicago. It’s a rather funky American diner that sells the yummiest burgers and an awesome choccie fudge cake!

.

When was the last time you cried?

This afternoon… I tend to hit low points and get so fed up trying to cope with chronic pain and how life altering it’s been. It’s tiring and wears you out every single day in so many ways.

.

Favourite blog?

There’s just too many –call me a whimp but I just can’t choose. You’re all amazing!!! 😀

.

Favourite movie?

Sex And The City – I NEVER get tired of catching up with the gals!

.

Favourite TV Shows?

I’ve such a bizarre eclectic mix but… The Undateables, Ghost Hunters, Street Outlaws & Keeping Up With The Kardashians (don’t judge… it’s my guilty pleasure!) and Canal Journeys. Yep, I’m being totally serious.

.

PC or MAC?

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’d love a MAC!

.

What phone do you have?

Wait for it…. An Apple iPhone 4. Yes I’m one of the few still using them but it works like a charm and I’m oddly attached to it. That little phone has been through a lot with me!

.

How tall are you?

5ft 11” bare foot

.

Can you cook?

Abso-fricken-lootly.

.

Thanks again to the lovely Laura over at Polka Dot Teapot! My nominee’s are:

Traci Ann Loves

Galit – Coffee n Notes

Emma – Puddleside Musings

10 Things I’ve Learned About Beauty Blogging…

10 Things I've Learned About Beauty Blogging

There’s an old Chinese proverb which states ‘The journey of a thousand mile starts with a single step’. Isn’t it beautiful? These words have always rung true throughout the many journeys I’ve been on, some of them great and others not so much. But after stumbling across this little proverb over the weekend again it’s made me reflect back on a few journeys I’ve been through, am still going through & those yet to come. One of the most inspiring journey’s I’ve been on is blogging. Not only has it helped me manage my anxiety immensely, but the fun I’ve had and the friendships forged have been totally unforgettable. So with that in mind today’s post is simply a light hearted reflection on a few of the things I’ve learned since taking my first ‘virtual’ footstep with Confetti & Curves almost 3 years ago…

.

Hoarding becomes normality…

No, really it will. Say goodbye to your trusty little zip-up makeup bag and hello to a room dominated by skyscrapers of muji drawer sets and decorative Ikea plant pots crammed with makeup brushes. Of course that’s ONLY the cosmetics… your bathroom shelves, bedside cabinets, kitchen table and handbag will become a breeding ground for skincare, moisturisers, lip balms…

pink heart

There’s no such thing as free time…

If you’re a busy little blogging bee who hits the ‘publish’ button multiple times per week then the likely hood is that your free time is spent scrawling down post ideas, making mental notes of points to mention, scouring beauty magazines, responding to PR companies, replying to comments, attempting to keep up with social media, recharging your camera batteries, cursing the lack of natural daylight, typing into the early hours of the morning – oh, and juggling your job/life/kids/family commitments into the mix too 😉

pink heart

“But it’s for the Blog”…

Payday should be everyday when you’re a beauty blogger with a wish list as long as a fresh loo roll, but it aint, so funds needs to be juggled with care and the mightiest of resistance to splurge. However there’s always that delicious moment when birthday & Christmas rolls round and you’re handed cards filled with gift vouchers for your favourite beauty havens *happy sigh* In the mean time you’ll keep convincing yourself that every item you pop in your basket is all in the name of beauty blogging. What a selfless trooper you are! 😀

pink heart

Nothing gets used until your camera says so…

And I mean absolutely nothing. The thought of applying a fresh tube of lippie before it’s been photographed almost makes the eyeballs in your head roll back in horror. And heaven forbid an eye shadow pan gets disturbed or a new makeup tool gets used BEFORE it’s had a photo shoot.

pink heart

There’s no such thing as “Just popping in”…

Are you serious? When was the last time you actually ‘just popped in’ to any makeup store? When you’re a beauty blogger avoiding the makeup aisles is virtually impossible. We have miniature magnets entwined into our DNA that simply doesn’t permit us to casually dander past a wall of beauty goodies but instead be drawn helplessly towards them. We’re goin’ in and we ain’t coming back out until our forearms resemble a patchwork quilt of many many many colours.

pink heart

EVERTHING gets critiqued…

Even things your friends and family treat themselves too , you’ll more than likely find yourself saying “Ooh, very nice, but you really should try…” Oh yes, you become obsessed, not only with your own stash but also with the stash of others too. Not to mention the almighty moment of “YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS… No, really you HAVE to, I insist, in fact let’s go RIGHT NOW and buy it for you. Yes NOW!” You become delirious when you find a mascara that does what it promises or a drugstore lipstick that puts your favourite Mac to shame.

The guilt, oh the guilt…

Oddly enough I had this very conversation with a blog buddy quite recently, when we were discussing the waves of quilt from the very thought of not posting. It’s remarkably amazing just how much effort goes into maintaining a blog, including sticking to a routine. Sadly many of us often get swamped into feeling pressured to fulfilling that day in day out. Remember, we’re only human, we need our blog breaks, holidays and time away to recharge our batteries. Blogging should be fun, breaking the guilt is tough but it has to be done to realise that there’s a life to live away from the laptop too.

You’ll have an all year round need for fairy lights…

Your new slogan will be ‘fairylights aren’t just for Christmas..’ as you’ll soon discover that there’s an all round yearly requirement for obtaining that perfect background bokeh effect to woo the eyeballs of your readers with. Yes, your room will partially resemble Santa’s grotto 356 days of the year… 366 if it’s a leap year. Just saying.

Lighting becomes your enemy …

Summer time is a blessing but winter is just a plain old pain in the virtual arse cheeks. With gloomy grey skies and sunlight disappearing faster than your patience cares to admit, you’ll possibly find yourself timing your photo shoots to day-light perfection as you huddle eagerly beside your biggest window… until you spend your entire savings on ring lamps powerful enough to flood light Wembley Stadium.

You’ll become besties with people you’ve never met…

This is by far the best bit, the community spirit. When I started beauty blogging my misconceptions were that it would be a ferociously bitchy place full of ‘Makeup Experts’ just waiting to correct your every damn opinion. How wrong I was. In fact, it’s the total opposite. I’ve met people that will remain friends for the rest of my life, people who have built my confidence, encouraged me, supported me and even spent the time selflessly promoting my little corner of the interweb.  These are the people who lift you up on the crappiest of days, they’re the ones that make you feel  a very special part of one big cheery internet family. Thank you ❤

Howdy Chums…

What a lovely weekend it’s been doing absolutely zilch! As many of you know, I had my Cortisone injection on Friday and by Dr’s orders I’ve been told to rest for 48 hours – I’ll certainly not argue with that 😉 Needless to say it wasn’t as bad as what I imagined, though I was hoping to be a little more pain-free by now… however it seems it takes a few days to take effect! Of course this has given me the ideal chance to catch up on testing new gel polishes that have arrived and play about with some 3D nail art which has been lots of fun! I’ve also ordered some business flyers and cards to start promoting Liquid Glamour locally. Exciting stuff!

So what’s your plans for today? Are you chilling out or off somewhere exciting? As always, if  you fancy catching up with the latest shenanigans here on Confetti & Curves then get yourself comfy and take a peek at some of the fun posts below…
