Makeup Revolution Iconic 2: Metallic Eyes…

Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 2 Eye Shadow Palette

I’m in love. Sounds a bit over dramatic when it comes to eye shadow, huh?

Of course this past number of weeks I’ve been so wrapped up in pastels & pinks that I’ve almost managed to forget how beautiful a metallic semi-smokey eye really is… and how damn wearable whether it be day, night, summer or winter. Although I’m often intimidated by bold shades of lippy, a dramatic eye never fazes me. In fact, the bolder the better is quite often my motto when it comes to dressing up my lids. So this weekend I waved a dismissive hand to pastels and said hello to mesmerising metallic’s; all thanks to the pocket friendly Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 2 palette & it’s array of show-stopping shades…

MUR Redemption Iconic 2

Okay so the title may be a tad grammatically dramatic but it’s certainly in keeping with the pigmentation that’s simmering below the lid. But let’s start at the beginning gals = price. Everyone knows I LOVE a bargain, and what could be better than parting ways with a mere £4 for a medley of twelve cool toned shadows? For just short of fiver, Makeup Revolution have managed to create what I’d consider to be the closest dupe to the Naked 2 I’ve yet to sample. Crazy, huh?

In fact, the pigmentation is so good it makes me question if high end offerings are indeed overpriced and over-rated in comparison. Are we unnecessarily paying an arm and a leg just for fancy schmancy packaging? Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE my pricier palettes, but for anyone who hasn’t yet invested in any I’d be pretty quick to recommend the Makeup Revolution as a worthy alternative equivalent.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 2 Palette Review

Taking a quick peek at the shade selection, it’s a sassy range of cool matte & shimmering metallic tones that will undoubtedly work well with pretty much any complexion. One thing I will say is that the lighter matte shades are slightly disappointing compared to the rest of the colours. The highlighter & base tones pale into insignificance against the mighty pop of the bold metal tones which are even more impressive if you decide to use them with a slightly dampened brush = a semi foiled finish that’s utterly multifaceted *swoon* The colour literally lights up the lid *more swooning* Check out a close up of the scrummy copper coloured look I created this weekend…

Of course any cosmetic craver will more than likely agree that when you find something so damn fabulous in (almost) every way you can’t help but insist anyone with a pulse NEEDS to have it in their life. But what’s not to love? The pricing, pigmentation & consistency are all clear winners. Okay, so the outer casing is a tad uninspiring but I’d much rather have quality on the inside than pretty packaging containing shadows that pack as much colour punch as self-raising flour *sigh*

  1. This and the Iconic 1 are definitely going in my Makeup Revolution cart when I get to doing an order. I’ve always wanted to try the Naked palettes but I’m pretty sure you can’t buy them here (or Urban Decay for that matter) and I’ve heard these are rather fabulous dupes. Love your look here Karen, which shades did you use from the palette? x

    • Yep… you NEED them in your life Chanelle, and at such great prices you can’t go far wrong 🙂 Naked palettes are lovely though I’m wondering why I’m paying the hefty price after trying this little palette out! It’s THAT good!!
Unfortunately the colours aren’t named or numbered but I used the 4th over lid, 8th blended out really well in crease & 11th outer crease (going from left to right on the palette) Though all the colours are so nice pretty much any combo would be gorgeous 😀 XXXX

      • Phew! If it’s a fiver and I can buy it from a shop I can practically kid myself I’ve spend nothing but small change.

On the Internet however, you have to justify that delivery charge so I keep filling my basket….makes it harder to pretend I haven’t spent anything……!

      • YES!!!!! Oh my gosh someone who also thinks like I do with the internet shopping justification too!!! Honestly, it’s a rarity I even order online… unless it’s from Amazon at Christmas as most of Steve’s goodies are found on there and it saves me carting bags around the high street *sigh* lol xxx

    • Thank you so much wee chum!!!! Funny I was thinking of you when applying them as I’m sure you mentioned before that you love these palettes too and find them a great dupe for the UD naked. So darn impressed with the price, pigment and longevity – they’re really giving the high ends a run for the money ❤ XXXX

  4. I love this look! A metallic semi-smokey eye is my all-time favorite. Understated glamour all the way 🙂 Such amazing color payoff with that palette, too!

  5. What an amazing look Karen! I absolutely adore this one, it is my favorite MUR palette so far because the colors are all just so easy to use.
The quality of these is amazing. How would you compare this to your UD naked palette? I love these so much it has always stopped me from splurging on more expensive palettes because I am afraid to be disappointed.

    • YESS! I thought that too Anne, so versatile and not at all intimidating! It’s a gorgeous palette for sure, one of my absolute favs – and to answer your question about the UD… honestly, pretty much on power. I know, I know, sounds crazy right as the UD gets raved about – and don’t get me wrong I LOVE it/them. But I can’t find a huge difference at all. Apart from the packaging, it’s up there – which in a bizarre way kind of disgruntles me considering that the UD are £40 a pop. Honestly, save your money if you have this as it’s far too alike and you’d struggle to tell them apart. Actually – you’ve given me an idea for a post… which one’s which. I could do a few looks and bloggers have to guess which is the high end and which is the budget. Sounds like fun eh?! hehe XXXX

      • That sounds like an amazing blog idea! Definitely go for it!!
That has been my problem with the UD ones. The counter only arrived here last year and by that time I had a cllection of these mur palettes. I went and swatched UD, but wasn’t that impressed by the quality or color choices…

      • If truth be told, if I was in your shoes I would have felt the same. They’re gorgeous palettes but MUR shadows are super similar and no where near the price. Kinda makes sense which one to stick too 😉 XXX
