Weekend Make-Up Menu…

Weekend Makeup Menu

One of the MANY things I love about the weekend is the ability to get ready at my own pace. Saturday morning is my time to pamper, preen and play with the new makeup purchases I’ve treated myself to over the previous week… this Saturday was no exception! With no alarm in ear shot, I padded down stairs at 9:30 am (an utter treat than the usual 5 am start), re-fuelled on poached eggs & sipped on a cup of sweet tea before heading back to the boudoir for a looooong hot shower & rummage through my makeup collection! Here’s the menu ladies…

Fresh & Prep

 DSC00628

Simple Micellar Water: My freshly showered face may be squeaky clean but a quick wipe with this removes any left over residue. It’s also super kind to my very sensitive skin & packed full of great nourishing vitamins.

Olay Toner: This is undoubtedly my favourite skincare product of all time. It pulls a multitude of grimy sins deep from the pores and leaves your face feeling sparkly clean & toned… not to mention the aaaahhmazing scent.

Lush Lip Scrub: Does exactly what it says on the tin teeny jar. This yummy tasting scrub is great for removing a nasty build-up of dead skin… leaving your lips feeling pucker perfect!

W7 Lip Bomb: Considering I’m a self confessed balm-addict I always have a multitude of products to reach for but NONE as moisturising and long lasting as this little egg of excellence. Seemingly a dupe for the EOS range I’d highly recommend you try this gals – your lips with love you for it!

No 7 Beautifully Matte Foundation: Saturday was my first day using this foundation which is specifically designed for full coverage on oily complexions. I’m pretty new to the party when it comes to trying the No 7 range so I’ll keep you all posted on how it transpires with a future updated review ladies… so far so good 😉

Real Techniques Stippling Brush: Okay so it’s not an actually product but this pretty little wonder-brush deserves a gracious shout out. If you’re desperate for an airbrushed finish this will more than happily accommodate. It’s an essential for any make-up maven!

Rimmel Sunkissed Bronzer: Not only do I adore swirling my Real Techniques blusher brush in the GINORMOUS casing, the pay off of this bronzer is beautiful. It’s not too harsh for my pale skin and is totally buildable for a warm and dazzling glow.

Bourjois Cream Blush in Rose Tender: This simply adds a subtle pop of pink on the apples of my cheeks giving a fresh and dewy finish to the look. I LOVE IT!

Barry M Shape & Define Brow Kit: This gorgeous little brow kit recently featured in my monthly favourites *click here to watch* and since investing a mere £5 on it from Superdrug I’ve been blown away by the difference it’s made to my brow-scape. It shapes, defines and darkens any patchy areas leaving your brows looking HD ready!

Urban Decay NAKED 3 Palette: C’mon, who doesn’t adore this amazing selection of rose tinted shadows?! Okay, it may be a tad on the pricey side (rrp £38) but it’s well worth the investment. Oh, and don’t forget to enter my Giveaway comp where you could win your choice of NAKED palette *click here* for more info!

Rimmel Glam Eyes: I love this liquid liner however the tiny little applicator really does take a major steady hand to master! Considering I was all out of my usual fav (MUA Liquid Liner) I have to say I’m a total Rimmel convert.

Model & Co Mascara: The latest copy of Glamour Mag is out ladies & not only is it a special price issue (a mere £1) but it also comes with a complimentary choice of either Eye Liner, Mascara or Lip Gloss from Model Co cosmetics. The mascara won hands down and I have to say (for a freebie) it’s really rather impressive! Whad’ya think ladies?

Model Mascara Glamour Magazine

Eyelash Curlers: Even though my lashes REFUSE point blankly to hold a curl 99% of the time, it still doesn’t stop me from incorporating my curlers as part of my eye décor routine. Okay so they aren’t the most lavish set however I’m holding out for a set of Shu Uemura’s *sigh*

Urban Decay Primer: Considering my NAKED 3 palette was purchased at Christmas I’m aghast there’s any product in the complimentary primer pods left… you need so little of the stuff it lasts for ages! Today I’m wearing ‘SIN’, a shimmery formula that will keep the shadow blend looking fresh & totally crease free.

Lips

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Picnic In The Park: Seeing as most of today’s look focuses around the eyes I though I’d keep the lips simple with a wash of Tanya’s gorgeous gloss in this soft nude-pink tone.

W7 Lip Bomb: Before I apply any gloss I usually add a little swipe of this balm, I find it helps the longevity of the gloss and enhances the overall look!

    • lol – thank you so much huni! That’s a huge compliment considering I was almost half blinded by a rogue blob of herbal essence conditioner that morning – could hardly see lol Glad you like the look, have a fab week!! XXX

  1. Oh wow loving the look of the mascara! I got a free subscription to the Mag with their Spring Edit Beauty Box, but I’m tempted by a second to get another ModelCo product as the price is so damn good!x

    • Isn’t it lovely Rach?! I was sooooo impressed with it being a freebie – mag & a mascara for £1 – that’s SUCH a bargain 😀 Honestly I’d go for it… far to good to miss out on hehe XX

  2. Very beautiful Karen! I use that same foundation – which shade do you use?! It’s been an absolute staple since trying it a couple of months ago! I love the bottle. it gets every little bit out! xxx

    • Awwh thank you so much Natalie and it’s soooo lovely to talk to someone who uses it too as I haven’t found many bloggers mention it before. I’m pretty sure it’s Ivory (I want to say warm ivory but I could be wrong lol) need to double check. I’m sooo pale Natalie so it’s pretty hard to get something that compliments my skin tone but still has great coverage too – I like to look and feel like I’m wearing makeup… does that sound bizarre?! I’m not a BB cream kinda gal lol Oooh I like the pump on it too – looks like it squeezes everything all the way up… moneys worth 😉 Ps, how many pumps do you use?! Girl told me to use one but it’s nowhere near covering the way I’d want it too – used 3 (!!!!!!!) last go. Am I being ridiculous??! lol x

      • I was between the absolute lightest and the next one up – I opted for the slightly warmer tone because otherwise I look like Casper! It’s good value for money I think – compared to some products!
I usually prime my face with some pore-fessional, let that sink in and the apply my foundation with a brush…. on a normal day I will use 1.5 pumps because like you – one just isn’t sufficient coverage for me, but for nights out and special occasions I use 2… [loved all your ‘!’ 🙊]
quite often boots have 3-for-2 across their make up [its on now!] so I stock up there because I think this foundation will be in my collection for a loooong time 😁 xxx

      • Nooo – I’d have never had you down for that light a shade Natalie!!!! I just checked and mine is def warm ivory which I think might be one up from the bottom too?!? lol I tried the porefessional too huni but unfortunately it just didn’t work out for me at all 😦 Such a shame as I’ve read some amazing things about it – I swear my skin is so flippin weird at times lol Oh crikey – I need to hold back on my ‘3!!!!!!!!’ lol
Shall keep an eye out for those 3 for 2 deals – might have to pop back in this week to take avail of it before it runs out 😀 I’m thinking that too Natalie – so far it’s lovely ❤ XXXX

      • I am cool vanilla?!
Shame about the pore-fessional, have you tried any other primers?! sometimes i think the more products we introduce to our skin, the more demanding and high maintenance it becomes!
sometimes if you buy other products as well they give you money off vouchers for No7… win/win! xxx

      • Oooh – Hmmm, I’m pretty sure that’s lighter than my one! Surely not?! I tried the rimmel one but didn’t like it either so ended up giving up Natalie & sticking with moisturising lotion instead! Problem is my sky is quite oily at the moment so not ideal :-/ I think you’re right…. time to calm the products down a bit and stick with a skin staple! I’m sure it’ll calm down!! Yes I had a voucher for No7 for £5 off but was a week overdue *grrrr* better luck next time lol XXXX

      • I am pretty pasty haha – although not the moment i am stupidly sunburnt 😕
there are so many bloody products out there that you’d think one of them would combat oily skin! I have awful skin across my t-zone and some days I just despair with it and think sod it! haha… but there are worse things in life so I think I will take the oily skin!
ooooh so annoying – I get so many of those vouchers… and they all expire before I get to use them! xxx

  3. I got that ModelCo mascara in my ipsy a few months ago and it’s been my go-to mascara ever since! I used to only ever use Maybelline Great Lash mascara because everyone in my family uses it and it’s sort of a family tradition, but ModelCo is amazing and I absolutely love it!

    • Oh that’s brilliant feedback Valentina… thank you so much for sharing – I’m reeeeeeally impressed with it!! So impressed I was quite shocked actually lol At £11 it’s a little more than I normally spend but if it lasts it’s well worth it for the results 😀 Glad you’re liking it too – thanks so much for stopping by ❤ XXX

I have the Tanya Burr gloss and I still have yet to try it. My weekend was mostly being lazy and in my pajamas so no special ritual there. I hope you have a wonderful Monday!! ❤ XXXXX

  7. Love this look! Before I started dabbling in make-up, I never realised how much of a process it really is. Then I started to research and was, honestly, quite overwhelmed by how much there is to do! How many steps, skin care, different products, everything. Reading blog posts like these and really learning what each product did, taking the time to hone my technique, it’s down to a science that I can accomplish in 15 minutes in the morning and at night. Loved reading about your different products. So great to learn about new ones and get recommendations that way.

    • Awwwl thank you so much Dannie!! It really it quite a routine isn’t it?! Thankfully though I enjoy it and find it really therapeutic when I’m not in a rush 😀 I love reading others routines too, it’s great the little ideas etc you pick up from others! Oh wow, go you on your 15 mins… I’m not too far behind you on that (probably about 20 mins week days but anything up to 40 mins at weekend when I’m taking my time lol)
Thanks again for such a lovely comment and great feedback huni – hope you’re keeping as well as can be ❤ XXX
