Behind The Blog… featuring Tehzeeb from The Tezzy Files

Tezzy Files

Goooood morning lovelies…

Hope you’re all keeping well! Isn’t it crazy how quickly February is whizzing by? This week in the Rees Household it’s half-term, which of course means my beloved daily schedule is completely up the left! *groan + dramatic eye roll* However not being one to pass up an opportunity to spend some quality time with my nearest & dearest, we’ve a few fun family trips lined up for the week ahead *cue cheesy Griswold-style grin* Hopefully I’ll remember to take my camera along so I can snap some fun pics to share with you all 😀

However onto today’s Behind The Blogger… I’m super excited to introduce y’all to the stunningly beautiful Tehzeeb (or Tezzy as she’s also known) from The Tezzy Files.

A few of the things I adore about blogging is meeting such a diverse range of inspiring people from all over the globe, learning more about new cultures, countries and (of course) increasing my ever growing wish-list of worldly products and beautiful places to visit *sigh* Tezzy’s blog only adds to that list… it’s packed full to the virtual brim with exciting features for everyone. If food, fashion, lifestyle and a sprinkling of beauty sounds your thing then you’ll not be disappointed. Best of all, Tezzy is so incredibly vibrant, friendly and adores interacting with her fellow readers – a quality I personally love in a blog buddy!

So pop the kettle on, settle back and enjoy another fun-filled Behind The Blog…

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

 Beauty, Fashion and Food updates.

What inspired you to start blogging?

My love for writing! I’ve been contemplating on joining the blogosphere for a while now, and wish I’d started earlier.

I am blessed to be living in the UAE, the perfect place where East meets West. We are spoilt for choice with the world’s best beauty and fashion brands, and if you are a foodie your options are endless.

My blog aims to introduce new and exciting finds across the UAE and beyond, and while I’m at it, I have also interviewed some very interesting, inspirational people.

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

My name is Tehzeeb. Many people find this hard to pronounce, so I have a whole list of pseudo names I also respond to, and Tezzy seems to top the list.

So there you have it, The Tezzy Files… a file of Tezzy’s beauty, fashion and foodie adventures.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

My blog is just 2 months old, and right now I’m suffering from verbal diarrhoea!  Blogging is addictive.

What’s your favourite post to date?

If I had to pick one post, it would have to be the Edible Milk Mask!

I was quite nervous about posting my mug with all that gunk on it, but was very happy with the response it got. It’s a very simple, super cheap mask that anyone can make, and many people came back saying it really worked well for them too.

Try it out: http://thetezzyfiles.com/2014/12/21/edible-face-masks-the-milk-mask/

I’m planning to follow up this post with more edible masks 🙂

Describe your everyday clothes style:

My everyday style can best be described as quirky-boho. I love mixing and matching my everyday denims with ethnic-inspired prints and statement jewellery.

I currently have an obsession with hamsa jewellery: http://thetezzyfiles.com/2014/11/04/the-hand-of-fatima-the-hamsa-charm/

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

The ‘Healing Oil Treatment’ from the Macadamia Professional range: http://thetezzyfiles.com/2014/11/17/nuts-about-hair-care/

Lush’s ‘Sikkim Girls’ scent: http://thetezzyfiles.com/2014/11/04/sikkim-girls-by-lush/

Human+Kind Anti Aging Cream: http://thetezzyfiles.com/2014/11/05/humankind-bb-cream-now-in-the-uae/

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

I blog! After a long taxing day at my office desk as a marketing head, my second line of duty starts as a mummy to a hyper 4 year-old. Once she is in bed, I morph into a blogger.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

Your Saturday night would be our Friday (weekends in the Middle East fall on Friday and Saturday).

My ideal Friday night would be exploring new corners of the UAE with the family, and ending it with a lavish meal.

What do you do to relax?

Nothing beats a long, hot bubble bath!

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

My hubby will tell you I’m pretty messy. In my eyes, it’s a very organised chaos.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

Going for walks on the beach to see the sun rising with my father.

What was your favourite school subject?

Creative writing.

What’s your dream job?

I always wanted to be an editor of my very own magazine. Kinda living this virtual dream with the blog!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself 5 years older J

In 5 years, I hope to be that little bit more responsible and to juggle even more on my plate.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

1) Become a published author

2) Travel the world

3) Create my own quirky, ethnic-inspired fashion label

4) Have a house by the beach

5) Be an Iris Apfel (if I live past 80)

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Mummyhood.

Who inspires you?

I take inspiration from many people I’ve met down the line. I think I’ve inherited my mother’s tenacious genes, and don’t give up on things easily. My father has taught me to follow my dreams and always persist at being the best version of ‘me’. My husband is my best critic and keeps my wayward craziness at bay.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

‘You can’t act like a flip flop and expect to be treated like a Louboutin’.

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

1) Base your blog on a topic that interests you. If it’s about something close to your heart, you will never run out of ideas.

2) Carve out time from your daily schedule to concentrate on your blog. You have to earn the ‘blogger’ title!

3) No two blogs are alike, so make sure yours is a reflection of you. Your uniqueness will make you stand out.

4) Lastly and most importantly, have fun! Blogging can be addictive.
