Depotting Solo Eye Shadows…

If by any chance you’re an eye shadow junkie like myself, it’s more than likely you’ll have a stash of mini solo eye shadow pots scattered amongst your make-up collection. However, thanks to beauty space saving essentials such as the Z Palette range, it’s totally achievable to tidy up your hoards of solo shadows by carefully de-potting the pans & storing them in one handy place. No more rummaging through masses of individual singles *woo hoo*

But before trying this out for yourself here’s a few extra tips to help get you started…

.

1) Depot your stash in batches, that way you can get everything done all at once.

2) Figure out how your going to organise your palette before you de-pot & don’t forget to jot down the brand/shade. Being super organised will save you time & confusion in the long run, particularly if you’re working with lots of similar shades.

3) Always be sure to take your time when removing them from the pot to avoid damaging your shadows… the bigger the pan the more likely the product is to crack with leverage.

4) Don’t attempt to de-pot cream or baked shadows as these usually don’t come in pans.

Hope you’s all find this weeks video a handy one, it’s certainly something that’s been on my to do list for quite some time! Goodbye messy solo pots, hello organised palette *happy sigh*

Don’t forget to stop by and say a quick hello, and do let me know if you’ve any tips for depotting your shadows too, we’d love to read them in the comments below! Thanks for watching 🙂

Create The Perfect Winged Eye Liner In 5 Simple Steps…

The Perfect Winged Liner

Considering that I’m 33, it’s not like I haven’t had a good few years to get my liner spot on, yet it’s something I avoided & struggled with for such a long time simply because I couldn’t keep a steady hand or judge the similarity in sizes between flicks. Yes, you know how that one ends = eye catastrophe. Yet now that I’m somewhat wiser (thanks to plenty of practice) creating a flawless eye look is probably a favourite part of my make-up process… all thanks to simplifying it down to 3 bare necessities:
.
LL1
I’ve lost count of the vast amount of liquid liners I’ve tried tested over the years. Even when others claim to create flawless looks with must have products I’ve been left in a state of confusion as to why I’m not getting the same results. So ladies… I’ve come to the conclusion that (like many a thing in life) you have to plod on through until you finally find ‘the one’. For me that will only ever be Rimmel Professional Glam Eyes Liquid Liner. The shape of the wand & super-fine nib seem to work perfectly for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’ll be the Holy grail of liquid liners for YOU but it’s the only one that I can use to really get my flick on fleek! If you haven’t found yours yet don’t give up hope, it’s out there, I promise – just keep going and you’ll most certainly find the perfect match!
.
LL2
If you’re in a mad dash or watching the clock then forget about it as I pretty much guarantee you’ll end up with a mass of smudges or one eye perfect & the other rivalling a giant panda – as cute and cuddly as they may be it ain’t as sassy as a look on us humans. When you’re attempting to perfect your flick build your wing up gradually, if you’re a liquid-liner newbie then set aside 10 minutes to practice each evening until you finally become familiar with the shape you want to create – it’s useful to keep a stock pile of eye make-up remover wipes for quick & easy removal. Don’t forget, slow & steady wins the race so take your time!

.

LL3

We might have our own individual little ways for getting the job done, but if you’re struggling with the theory of liquid liner here’s my easy step-by-step guide on how I personally achieve my perfect winged look:

Step 1 liquid liner
1) Start by drawing a very simple line from the outer corner of your eye towards the end of your eyebrow. I usually stop about 1/2 way. As you’re coming to the end of your line very gently lift the nib of the liner wand to create a delicate tapered edge.

Step 2 Liquid Eye Liner

2) Starting just below the tip of the line, draw a second line towards the bottom middle of your eye lid creating a (kind of) curved isosceles shaped triangle.

Step 3 Liquid Eye Liner

3) Keeping your liner neat to your lash line, very gently draw a second line that follows the lash line & tapper it to just before the inner corner of your lid. Fill in the triangle and smooth off any bumpy lines by gently retracing over them. Try and build the liner to the natural curves of your eye.

Step 4 Liquid Eye Liner

4) Using your go-to concealer & small eye brush, tidy up the edges of your lines to create a super sleek finish.

Step 5 Liquid Eye Liner

5) Finally, re-smooth the edges of your liner & add lashings of your favourite mascara. Voila = the perfect winged eye liner!

My Favourite Eye-look Tutorial with Urban Decay NAKED 3…

 DSC00472

Hey beauty buddies…

With the roaring success of last Mondays Makeup Menu post (thank y’all!) I thought I’d share a favourite look using one of my most cherished eye shadow palettes – the Urban Decay Naked 3. I am literally uhhhbsessed with the beautiful blush tones of this palette, simply because they work so darn well with my regularly insipid skin tone – in fact they work fab with virtually every complexion. If you already own one (congratulations you lucky little ducky!) or are tempted to treat yourself to a Naked 3 palette then you might wanna try out this simple but oh-so-pretty eye look. I’ve linked all the products just in case you fancy a quick nosey via their official web-stores too; aren’t I a thoughtful blogger?! 😉 Sitting comfy? Then let’s get started…

 .

Step 1 – Prep & Prime

 DSC00444

So to begin I’m using a teeny tiny dab of Urban Decay Sin Primer. I find this gives a beautiful soft shimmer which really helps to make the pigmentation of the eye shadow stand out & of course leaves layered up lids looking crease free & fresh all day long!

 .

Step 2 – The Brows

 DSC00446

My next step is to tame the brows using a spoolie brush, filling in any blank spaces with an eyebrow pencil and smoothing out with a Real Techniques eye liner brush. I find this elongates the brows and gives a natural but semi groomed appearance. It’s so darn easy to overdo it with the brows so remember to tread carefully, the Rupaul look doesn’t bode well for a lot of us!

Next I take a tiny bit of strange on my Urban Decay brush and lightly highlight just under the brows to give a nice sharp look that helps to define my brow line.

.

Step 3 – Blend It Out

DSC00448

Taking a Real Techniques base brush from my Nic’s Picks collection, I line along the eye crease with the colour ‘Limit’. Blend, blend, blend and when you think you’re done… blend it out some more!

.

Step 4 – Lift The Lid

 DSC00452

Next I pack the lid with ‘Burnout’ which is a beautiful blush pink with a just hint of shimmer. You may need to reapply at a later stage to help brighten up the lid & really make the colour pop… so load up your brush and get packing ladies!

.

Step 5 – Outer Corner & Under Eye

DSC00454

DSC00458

Taking my Real Techniques base brush I use a little bit of ‘Nooner’ to blend into the outer crease. This beautiful matte shadow gives an incredible burst of definition to the outer edges and really begins to create some depth and shape. Again it’s reeeeeally important to get your blend on girls to ensure no harsh lines & that everything mulls beautifully into a gorgeous soft ombre effect. I also pop a little bit of ‘Nooner’ under my lower lash line – this is completely optional, so if you don’t fancy creating a slightly smokier look then feel free to give the under lash a miss.

.

Step 6 – Touch the Tears

 DSC00457

Lastly using my Urban Decay basic brush I dab a tiny amount of strange around the tear ducks and out crease/lash line. I find this just brightens the corner of the eyes, making them appear bigger, brighter and beautifully blended.

.

Step 7 – Flick & Finish

 NKD look

With all my looks I love to finish it off with a small winged lash line using MUA Liquid Liner (I find the applicator the easiest of all to use). I then curl the lashes to give a little bit of lift & add a generous helping of Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara which creates a clump free, long & fluttery look.

Voila, the finished result in 7 simple steps…

 (…albeit looking a tad startled!!)

So there we have it girls, my go to look using a range of muted tones from the gorgeous Urban Decay Naked 3. Do you have this palette? What’s your go to colours? Have you something similar or is it on your current wish-list? Whatever your thoughts do stop by & let me know in the comments below, hope you’re all having a fabulous May Day jolly holi 🙂
