Even though it’s an essential chore of any make-up maven, weirdly enough I actually really enjoy washing my brushes. Depotting Solo Eye Shadows…

If by any chance you’re an eye shadow junkie like myself, it’s more than likely you’ll have a stash of mini solo eye shadow pots scattered amongst your make-up collection. However, thanks to beauty space saving essentials such as the Z Palette range, it’s totally achievable to tidy up your hoards of solo shadows by carefully de-potting the pans & storing them in one handy place. No more rummaging through masses of individual singles *woo hoo*

But before trying this out for yourself here’s a few extra tips to help get you started…

.

1) Depot your stash in batches, that way you can get everything done all at once.

2) Figure out how your going to organise your palette before you de-pot & don’t forget to jot down the brand/shade. Being super organised will save you time & confusion in the long run, particularly if you’re working with lots of similar shades.

3) Always be sure to take your time when removing them from the pot to avoid damaging your shadows… the bigger the pan the more likely the product is to crack with leverage.

4) Don’t attempt to de-pot cream or baked shadows as these usually don’t come in pans.

Hope you’s all find this weeks video a handy one, it’s certainly something that’s been on my to do list for quite some time! Goodbye messy solo pots, hello organised palette *happy sigh*

Don’t forget to stop by and say a quick hello, and do let me know if you’ve any tips for depotting your shadows too, we’d love to read them in the comments below! Thanks for watching 🙂

Organising My Nail Polish Collection…

I seem to be harbouring a slight obsession for new nail polish. Admittedly, for the past few years, nails haven’t really been ‘my thing’. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always *tried* to ensure my nails have been kept reasonably presentable… a few layers of whatever polish was close to hand (& if feeling really adventurous) a dab of rose oil on the cuticles to keep them from withering before my very eyes.

.

Yet recently, my desire for an eye catching mani has somehow snowballed to the point where I can barely go a week without sneaking into Boots to gaze & decide upon which lucky colour will be joining my expanding collection next… which of course brings me rather neatly onto this week’s video: Organising My Nail Polish Collection.

So if you fancy taking a peek at a few of my favourite nail goodies then pop the kettle on, get comfy and we’ll take a quick run through my much loved stash!

What’s your favourite polish at moment? Have you any ‘fabulous for fall’ recommendations?

Cute Acrylic Earring Closet…

Acrylic Earring Closet

A few weeks ago I featured this nifty little acrylic earring holder in my September Favourites video *click here* to check it out if you haven’t treated your eyes & ears already chums 😉 Many of you seemed rather taken by this sassy little space-saver, so to showcase it in all it’s glory I thought I’d give it it’s very own Friday feature here on Confetti & Curves!

You see ladies, I was previously in the throws of a seasonal clear out when I discovered the vast amount of little earrings I was harbouring in a number of boxes & bags scattered around the house. Sadly, many of these earrings weren’t getting worn for the simple reason that I’d literally forgotten about them. So after consulting with the virtual oracle (aka Google) I stumbled upon this handy-dandy folding acrylic jewellery holder…

DSC01234

If I’m totally honest it was love at first sight… instantly I knew it would be the perfect solution to my earring storage problems. It’s roomy, takes up minimal space & looks rather chic too, don’t you think?

Acrylic Earring Holder Collage

As you can see it’s totally foldable, which means it’s super easy-peasy to neatly store away if you’re battling hoards of beauty clutter (like myself) Alternatively you can leave the mini earring closet wide open to the world to display your delightful collection of lobe jewellery.

Earring collage

As shown, it’s dispels any dilemmas for hanging hook style earrings or simple stud backings, thanks to the simple yet ingenious shape of the racks. It also has the capacity to store up to 125 pairs of earrings – not bad at all right?

.

For a mere £8, it’s such a bargain! Considering I’ve previously hunted the high street looking for something similar there unfortunately hasn’t been anything out there that rivals the size capacity & handiness of this little gadget.

Of course as many of us cosmetic cravers tend to swoon over acrylic storage items, this is undoubtedly the perfect match to add a touch of consistency to any vanity table if you’ve already invested in muji style make-up boxes. Best of all, I’m now getting full use of my earrings – especially after most of them were hidden away in a treasure trove of hiding places for so long. My entire collection is now in full view so I can pick and choose whatever styles I like on a daily basis.

I’m also thinking this could very well be a super little gift for friends and family, particularly as the ‘season to be jolly’ is only a matter of weeks away!

The Me Spree: Ikea & Homeware Haul…

Happy Wednesday Y’all

As many of you already know from a few of my previous posts I’ve been doing a teeny bit of redecorating around the house and of course with that comes the need to take a trip to our nearest Ikea store to see what goodies I can fill my fresh new rooms with. Thankfully this time I didn’t go too nuts in the aisles of my favourite Swedish homeware store but kept it to a few key essentials. What girl can resist a few pretty storage items… isn’t that right ladies?! I’ve also managed to throw in a few other random little nifty finds I spotted this month that I’m pretty sure will come in rather handy too 😉

Don’t forget: if you have a YouTube channel you’d like me to check out do feel free to post the link below! Wishing you all a fabulous Wednesday & do leave a quick hello in the comments below – hope you enjoy the haul chatter ❤

Buying A Beauty Box?

Buying a beauty box

Hey Beauty Buddies

I don’t know about you, but finding nooks, crannies, gadgets and bags to store all beauty bits in is always a challenge for me as I seem to be consistently outgrowing whatever little cosmetic carriers I invest in. Makeup bags are great but I’ve noticed that a lot of them are of limited size and can often get battered, bruised and zip torn. Determined to find something a little sturdier to stash my beauty belongings in, my ever empathic hubby thought I’d benefit from a Beauty Box. Let’s see if his creative spending holds up to the idea….

.

The Beauty Box

 beauty box

Made of sturdy aluminium this sizeable cosmetic carrier was bought from www.beauty-boxes.com. If you haven’t visited the site yet, it’s an online store selling a range of high quality beauty boxes, trolley’s, cases, makeup brushes & accessories… and when I say high quality, I really do mean it. Comparing this box to a few smaller similar styles I’ve had in past years it’s pretty much leagues ahead in the reliability stakes.

 .

Who’s it for?

Ideally, this would be the perfect beginners case for a budding MUA, a professional that carries a limited amount of beauty/hair products or someone who travels considerably and wants to keep their lotions and potions safe from being unnecessarily battered in transit. Admittedly I’m not any of those three but it does make a great case if you like to keep a select amount of regular use items in the one handy dandy place!

.

The Opposition?

 DSC00350

Okay, so here’s the current opposition… my pretty little Ikea cosmetic bag that I adore in every shape, way and fashion. It’s strong, has a metal frame that stays open when you’re vigourisly plundering through the contents. Has a zip that’s tough as nails, is under £5 (or somewhere around that region) and *most importantly* it’s the most gorgeous shade of raspberry. Yes, that’s right ladies – not pink, raspberry 😉 If you wanna take a trip down memory lane and check out a 2014 post of me rambling about it in all it’s glory just *click here* to be digitally redirected!

One of the reasons I l-o-v-e this makeup bag is simply because of the ability to contain everything in one roomy place and (unlike other bags I’ve used in the past) doesn’t faint into a pathetic mass of material on opening. I’ll admit, I had my doubts before transferring everything over to the Beauty Box if it would all fit, but ever the optimist I kept hopefull it wouldn’t end in a finger pointing rage of fury at the chubbiness of my Clinique Chubby Stick or saucer sized Rimmel Sun Shimmer compact. After all beauty comes in all shapes and sizes… isn’t that right ladies? 😉

.

Lets Talk Organisation…

DSC00360

Setting everything out before my very eyes put into context the vastness of products my make-up bag has been hoarding. This of course was the perfect opportunity for a damn good clear out & wipe down (hence the baby wipes)

 DSC00352

Everything slotted neatly into place and looked great once it was finished. One handy little advantage of the beauty box is that it eliminates the mass of mess that often accumulates at the bottom of a makeup bag as everything is divided into small compartments which saves times rummaging around for the smaller items such as liquid liner or stubby little lip pencils. One glance and you know where it’s at. However a slight drawback is that the compartments aren’t overly big and they can’t be altered to fit, which in my humble opinion is a much overlooked design drawback. The top row of smaller individual ones may be ideal for tipping a mass of bobby pins into on a whim, but area is limited for lippies and most certainly larger glosses; and with me being a gloss-hoarder it won’t be long before I’m reaching maximum capacity with this lot (and to be fair my stash doesn’t exactly rival that of Carli Bybel) just *click here* to check out her video & you’ll understand why this gal needs an entire room to house her obsession with make-up!!

.

Overall Verdict:

All in all the Beauty Box is a great way to organise a small collection of beauty essentials especially if your collection isn’t overly extensive or if you’re on the road and need a sturdy little companion to travel along with. Okay, the compartments aren’t huge but there are other shapes and sizes available if you do decide to upgrade to something a little roomier. Alternatively you could just buy a portable pink potting shed and be done with the hassle of finding extra space, genius huh?

DSC00340

For me this cute little case means no more messy makeup bag, no digging through masses of powder dusted mascara tubes or crumbling eyeshadow palettes… just mess free makeup at a glance!

Do you have a beauty box or is it something you’re thinking of investing in? What’s your favourite makeup storage solution? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below so do stop by and say a quick hello!

The Must-Have Make-Up Bag…

IkeaMakeUpBag

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect make up bag, yet bizarrely none of my high street finds uncovered a new little beauty-nest I loved enough to bring back home with me. Everything has either been too small, not pretty enough or just ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Maybe I’m just a hard gal to please, but when it comes to picking a cosmetic bag (for me) it needs to tick three boxes: pretty, functional and affordable. I just want something I can lift, love and admire without it overly denting the contents of my bank account.

IMG_1889

I admit, all seemed lost until a few weeks ago when a gorgeous raspberry coloured item caught my eye whilst wandering around Ikea. Honing in for a closer inspection I couldn’t believe my luck… surely I hadn’t gone and found the perfect home for all my make-up goodies?

It was indeed love at first sight, so you can imagine my inner jumps of joy when I unzipped it to discover the vast amount of room for my assortment of eye palettes, blusher compacts, lip pencils and glosses. There was even a tiny inner compartment to house my eyelash curlers and brushes, along with a roomy outer pocket to stuff any other little trinkets in. Best of all ladies *brace yourselves* it was a mere £3.75 thanks to my Ikea family card which knocked a further £1.25 of its original £5 price tag *thud of lower jaw hitting floor*

 IMG_1893

Isn’t it beeeeeautiful? *swoon* It’s made of a strong nylon material that’s wipe clean, which helps keep it free of grubby make-up finger prints and looking fresh as a daisy on the outside. Another fantastic feature is that when the bag is opened, it stays wide open due to a hidden framing around the edge of the mouth of the bag so you can clearly see what you’re looking for – makes having to drop everything and rummage through it with make-up covered mits a thing of the past!

Although the gorgeous pop of pink is what initially caught my eye (it’s not a sickly ‘bubble gum’ pink but more of a rich raspberry/cerise tone) it does comes in navy or black – always handy to know if raspberry just isn’t your thing or you’re tempted to treat your fella to a less girly version… perfect for any upcoming holidays or romantic getaways don’t you think?

I really love the chunky metal zipper, it’s incredibly heavy duty, which for me is a huge bonus considering the zips on my last few cosmetic bags have ended up jamming, sticking or simply going bust within a matter of months. I actually bought the smaller pink Ikea bag (pictured below) about a year ago to use as a pencil case and I have to say it’s still like new and showing no signs of wear, tear or zipper weakness.

IMG_1898

After a considerable amount of searching I finally found it on the Ikea website (click here) otherwise you’ll just have to haul yourself along to your nearest store to pick one up personally – not a bad thing considering there’s so many other great items on offer for around the home. If like myself you’re a ‘self confessed candle addict’ I’d advise you give them a try too as they’re relatively long lasting and the fragrances are beautiful. I always end up stocking up on a few new packs every time I visit and as a result my cupboards are currently coming down with scented tea tree lights and candle holders!

 IMG_1901 IMG_1905

For the price, these handsome little holdalls are amazing quality, durable, roomy, functional and quite the eye candy… I’ve had numerous compliments about mine so far. So if you’re also on the look-out for a dazzling new cosmetic, make up or travel bag, get yourself down to your local Ikea store… it’s well worth the trip!
