The Makeup Menu: Pink Ice…

The Makeup Menu Pink Ice 2

Hey Beauty Buddies,

I’ve been rekindling my love affair with some of my staples this weekend, as being on a bit of a makeup spending ban is really encouraging me to use up a few goodies that’s been lying dormant around my makeup drawers. As much as I adore shopping for new cosmetics there comes a time when you realise some of the older stuff you have reeeeeally needs used up before moving onto introducing newbies. So to help me get acquainted with some of my old favourites (including items I haven’t used in what feels like yeeears) I opted to base my look around the Avon’s Duo True Colour Eyeshadow Compact in Pink Ice. Here’s a peek at what pocket friendly items I used to create my summery weekend look….

.

THE FINAL RESULT:

Pink Ice Collage

What do you think gals? Personally I’m swaying towards the tones of the shadow being more lilac than Pink Ice, needless to say it’s actually pretty okay and I’m really glad I didn’t ditch it as intended. In fact if the colour pay off is anything to go by I’d certainly be tempted to have a peek at some of Avon’s other duo shadow compact!

What’s your verdict? Are you a fan of pink eye shadow? What’s your favourite summer colour to dress up your lids with? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below so do stop by for a quick chatter!  Wishing y’all a fabulous week ahead 🙂

Pink Of The Bunch! My Favourite Blush Pink Lipsticks…

Pink Lipsticks

From MAC to Makeup Revolution, there’s no denying that a large bulk of my lippy stash is made up of beautiful blush pinks. Oddly enough I wouldn’t consider myself to be a ‘pink’ kinda girl, it’s not a colour I’d ever wear, nor is it something I’d decorate my house in – apart from my 10 year old’s bedroom and even that was more sparsely pink with a mixture of other bright tones mixed in. Yet when it comes to painting my lips, pink is the first colour I reach for. It’s comfortable, like my lips only better… much better in fact. So to pay homage to a few of my most cherished pinks what could be better than starting the week off with a fun feature than showcasing just a few of these fabulous colours. Sitting comfy? Then let’s get started…

.

MAC Amplified in Craving

MAC Craving

After receiving this as a little extra Christmas gift from my beloved hubby, I had only ever seen swatches of it online – and turns out it’s quite a bit darker than I realised. Thankfully it’s exactly what I need in my collection! It’s a beautiful deep pink with a hint of plum that is soft enough for daytime wear and can be built up quite dramatically at night. Needless to say the staying power is incredible, but with a modest prices tag of £15.50 coupled with their seemingly superior reputation I’d expect nothing less. Now if only they could work on making their in store customer service as good as the longevity of their lipsticks!

.

Makeup Academy in Shade 2

Makeup Academy Shade 2 Lipstick

The budget brand that punches well above it’s price tag. This lipstick I picked up for £1 in Superdrug, and although it’s a little more fuschia infused than I’d normally go for it’s such a pretty summery shade that works well with so many skin tones. Layer this lightly and you’ve a ‘my lips but better’ look going on, build it up and it’s a beautiful deep. For pocket money, it’s an everyday keeper in my opinion!

.

Bourjois Shine Edition in 24 Rose xoxo

Bourjois 24 Rose xoxo

It literally pains me to type these words *sob* but after hunting high and low it seems that Bourjois have discontinued what I consider my all time favourite pink lippy. It’s soft, smooth, moisturising and leaves your lips beautiful refreshed and natural looking. Think of a long lasting ‘pinky tinted’ balm and you’re on the right tracks! Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a perfect dupe either… maybe one day, but until then Ill be using this as sparingly as I can! *sigh*

.

Max Factor Lipfinity in 60 Evermore Lush

Max Factor Lipfinity 60 Evermore Lush

Claiming up to 8 hours wear, you’d literally have to sit like a mannequin in order to get your 480 minutes worth of long-lasting wear. Mean while on planet reality, expect a few good hours of impressive colour pay off. It doesn’t dry your lips out, and is very comfy to wear. The shade selection could be a bit more dazzling for those that like to explore out of the comfort zone… however I find this a great lippy for work as by midday all I need to do is dab a little balm over the top (I use EOS) and voila, the colour is subtly revived for another couple of hours.

Makeup Revolution Lip Hug in Love Can Set You Free

Makeup Revolution Lip Hug Love Can Set You Free

This is probably one of the most complimented lipstick I’ve ever purchased. Having taken a chance on this during my most recent HUGE Makeup Revolution haul, which you can check out by *Clicking Here*, I wasn’t really expecting anything out of the ordinary. How wrong I was. The formula of the Lip Hug almost feels high end, and the longevity of the product is just as fabulous – in fact I’ve tried a few expensive lippies that would be put to shame by this. For £2.50 I’d recommend, if not insist, you treat yourself to a tube pronto 🙂

.

Rimmel London Asia

Rimmel London Asia Lipstick

An old favourite. Rimmel’s Asia is something I’ve been wearing since my early teens. I love the dusky mauve pink colour with rich tones of latte mixed in for good measure.. and it’s relatively long wearing too. Even though it may be a 90’s throwback, there’s no denying this colour is still well in trend 20 years later. Not bad eh? 😉

.

17 Supreme Shine in Barely Blush

17 Supreme Shine Barely Blush

The packaging gave me hope that it was a potential dupe for my beloved (discontinued) Bourjois, as pictured further above. However when I swatched Barely Blush I was actually surprised at how matte the formula was compare to my initial expectations. On wear it’s super comfy (and not matte at all) and although it’s not a replacement for one of my all time faves it’s quickly become a shade I reach for regularly as it compliments my skin tone and goes with a multitude of shadow staples too!

Ted Baker: Brilliance of Beauty…

Ted Baker Brilliance Of Beauty Box Set

I can’t believe it’s taken this long to finally get round to opening this gorgeous gift set. For the past four weeks it’s been sitting looking ‘oh-so-pretty’ on my cosmetic table, whilst I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to unpack the contents… and what I treat it was on Friday evening when I decided the time was right to get acquainted with Mr Baker.

The Ted Baker range (pretty much in it’s entirety) is something I’ve lusted over for quite a few months, in fact it would take more than just two hands to count the goodies on my ever growing wish list. The packaging alone makes me swoon, and if anything it pains me (just a little) to disturb it. However needs must, and what cosmetic craver could withhold the desire to break open the gorgeous rose gold & fresh clean white contents? *happy sigh*

Sitting comfy? Then let’s take an ‘up-close & personal’ look at the contents:

.

Packed ever so neatly in a beautiful floral design box, the Brilliance of Beauty collection is a two tier cosmetic treasure trove of almost everything a gal could need to adorn her complexion…

Ted Baker Brilliance Of Beauty

The top tier consists of five glorious items that’s sure to get your heart fluttering. A lip gloss, lipstick, lip & cheek tint, rose gold Kabuki brush & a rose gold blush compact…

Ted Baker lips

Lip Gloss: Not for the faint hearted, this vibrant raspberry-pink lip gloss feels more like a melted lipstick in my humble opinion as the formula is incredibly creamy and smooth. It felt super comfortable to wear, wasn’t sticky or by any means overly shiny; best of all it lasted for ageeees.

Lip Stick: I must admit, this particular shade of lipstick ignited instant alarm bells for me. As much as I adore nude shades, if the undertones are more brown than pink I often end up resembling a corpse, all thanks to my pale skin of course! However much to my delight this is actually quite peachy which is slightly more warming for my complexion. It’s also destined to make a great base for some of my favourite soft pink glosses too 😉

Cheek & Lip Tint: This is probably going to end up one of my most used items as I find tints are a great staple for underneath balms or even just to add a hint of natural looking colour to the cheeks. A great little addition to pop in the handbag for those quick touch-ups when out and about.

Ted Baker Blush

Rose Gold Kabuki Brush: This cute brush is super soft, picked up the blush considerably well and being adorned with a rose gold handle looks absolutely stunning. It blended the product, beautifully without any casting and cleaned up perfect like new after using my B Makeup Brush Cleanser after use!

Rose Gold Blush Compact: I ADORE this stunning little compact with a trio of soft pink shades. It has a subtle highlighting shade in the centre which really gives a beautiful luminousity to your cheeks without any danger of resembling a 1970’s disco-ball. An ever so slightly shimmering addiction to keep your cheeks looking slightly rosey and dewy. I’m also a huge fan of the swivel lid which also hold a pretty sizeable mirror – perfect for popping in the handbag on glam nights out!

.

Ted Baker Brilliance of Beauty 1

The second tier is focused on eyes and nails which contains: rose gold eyelash curlers, rose gold eye shadow trio, shadow brush, eye liner pen, mascara and two bottles of nude polish shades.

Rose Gold Eyelash Curlers: As much as I ponder whether or not eyelash curlers really do my lashes any justice at all, I always seem to feel more hopeful after using them. After all, it’s a little helping hand to encourage them into some sort of upturned shape. Considering my old ones have pretty much had it these couldn’t have come at a better time!

Rose Gold Eye Shadow Trio: I doubt I could’ve picked three more perfect shades as I’m a huuuuge fan of warm metallic shadows. If you’re more a matte gal then I’m not sure you’ll truly appreciate these, but for those who love painting their lids with rich warm shimmers you’d fall head over heels for these tones…

Ted Baker Shadow Swatches

Shadow Brush: A gal can never have enough brushes in her collection, thankfully this new addition is really comfortable to hold and surprisingly non-slip for it’s glossy white exterior. Although soft, the bristles are well packed together allowing you to easily pick up a decent amount of colour. Not ideal for blending but a great initial applicator for a strong wash of colour.

Eye Liner Pen: I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a fan of eye liner pens, if anything I find them quite dry and awkward to use. However I seemed to master this one pretty well as the finished result looked slightly more subtle and softly blended out. I’m hoping to give this another go pretty soon for creating some great smokey eyed looks. The nib is very fine and doesn’t drag sharply along the lid (unlike a few others I’ve used in the past) however it still requires a little more skill and patience when it comes to creating a neat flick.

Mascara: Of everything in the entire gift box this is probably the one thing that is likely to disappoint the most… however, if like me, you prefer slightly fluttery lashes that aren’t over volumised or heavily caked with product then I’ve a feeling you’d love this. The formula focuses more on increasing a natural looking length than thickening which made my lashes very wispy and long – my perfect look!

Nail Polish: I’m still revelling in the Iced Frappe delights of my Ciate London polish… *click here* to check it out AND where you can pick up a FREE full sized bottle for yourself. However this pretty little pair of Ted Baker polishes are most definitely my ideal colours when it comes to choosing shades as I tend to magnetise towards the softer tones that are muted yet still very feminine and chic. I’m just keeping all crossed that they’ll end up every bit as good as they look… I’ll keep you posted on them with a review coming soon gals 😉

Finished Look

DSC02077

Considering I’ve glammed up to head out for a yummy meal and plenty of giggles with a friend, I think it’s a fun but sophisticated look. Although I’m not usually one for wearing bright lip colours everyday, I love a splash of colour when it comes to sassing things up for an evening out. Overall I’m super impressed with the variety of contents, colours, packaging and formulation of all the products! Initially retailing at £45 (reduced to £22.50) this was such a great spend. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Boots website for future upcoming Ted Baker deals!

The Make Up Menu: Antique Rose…

Antique Rose Make Up Look Main Image 1

My cosmetic drawers are literally bunged to the hilt with a multitude of gorgeous colours, yet for me there is nothing quite as feminine and beautiful as the delicate rose shades, particularly when they’re fused with warm antique golds. Ideal for most skin tones, ages & seasons – soft pinks and warm metals is often one of my go to looks for almost any occasion.  Sound like your kinda thing too? Then hopefully you’ll fall as head over heels as I am for today’s Make Up Menu

.

AR face

Antique Rose Make Up Menu Face

L’Oreal Infallible Matte 24 Hour – Shade 11 Vanilla: I’m almost ¾ of the way through the tube yet I’m still bouncing between whether I ‘just’ like it or love it. It would seem the verdict hinges on the hydration of my skin. When it’s dry it under performs yet when my face is fresh and fully hydrated it does a fantastic job at staying put for as long as I need it too. Damn those dry skin days, thankfully yesterday wasn’t too bad & it stayed vibrant for the duration. Result!

.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer – Shade 2 Light/Beige: My quest for a decent drug store concealer continues. Having only used this the once I’m nowhere near ready to give solid feedback however (as I’m sure you’re all yelling at your computer screens for some sort of feedback) what I will say is that you have to work super quick to get this blended as it literally sets before the wand’s out of the tube. I’ll be trying it with a variety of foundations so keep your eyes peeled for a thorough review coming soon!

.

Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette – Shade 372 Fair: To be fair (excuse the pun) contouring really isn’t something I’m big into, simply because my skin is so fair. I always feel contouring could take my complexion to the edge of potentially resembling dirty unblended lines of foundation. However with this palette I actually have to make it work to contour; not entirely a bad thing in my opinion – a great palette for softly building and sculpting the cheek bones. Thumbs up!

.

Soap & Glory Peach Party Blush Block – Shade Apricot Jam: One of my favourite blushes, this is super beautiful, One stroke of your blush brush and voila – peachy perfect cheeks with a hint of dewy highlighter. It is stunning! If you haven’t got it in your collection already ladies make sure it’s top of your shopping list, you won’t be disappointed.

.

AR eyes

Antique Rose Make Up Menu Eyes

Make Up Academy (MUA) Pro Base Eye Primer: At a mere £2.50 this primer really does perform phenomenally well for the pocket friendly price tag. It most definitely keeps my shadow looking vibrant & crease free  – just as promised!

.

MUA Eye Shadow – Shade 22 Pearl: A beautiful soft pink that I used as a soft transitional shade along the crease line. Super pigmented & true to its colour, I love it.

Antique Rose Make Up Menu Eyes 2

MUA Eye Shadow – Shade 24 Pearl: Outer crease… very difficult to describe, the words mocha/rose/mauve all spring to mind to try. Undoubtedly beautiful, it’s a gorgeous deep antique shade that would compliment a variety of colours including purple, lavender, brown, pink, gold, copper… I could continue. Main thing is, it works wonders!

.

Maybelline Color Tattoo – Shade 05 Eternal Gold: All over the lid… not too brassy, I adore this warm gold colour that adds a subtle touch of glamour to the lids. I’m also super impressed at the longevity, without feeling heavy or overbearing.

Top Tip: blends so much easier when using your finger!

Antique Rose Eye Shadow

Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner –Shade Black: My staple liquid liner, I’ve tried (almost) all of them and this gets the top spot every time. The super fine nib is incredibly precise and the black really is the darkest of blacks for a dramatic HD winged tip.

.

Barry M Brow Kit: A brow staple of mine, this cute little kit never fails to shape my brows into order. Highly recommended!

.

Barry M Lash Vegas Blackest Black Mascara with Fibres: Intrigued by this so called ‘fibre technology’ that has swept the mascara market, I had to give it a whirl. I have to admit it didn’t disappointment & certainly added length to my lashes however those looking for extra volume/thickness may be a little less impressed.

.

AR Lips

Antique Rose Make Up Menu Lips

Natural Collection Lip Liner – Shade Ruby Rose: I’m a huge fan of Boots Natural Collection range, not only are they incredibly affordable but the soft muted earthy shades are right up my street.

.

Max Factor Lipfinity – Shade Evermore Lush: Having been bowled over by the colour, I couldn’t resist testing out the Lipfinity range. From the first stroke it was beautiful creamy and could easily have been mistaken for a high end product. As for the staying power it really does last without feeling dry or uncomfortable. I’ll definitely be topping up my collection with a few more of these.

.

The Make Up Menu: Summer Time Pinks

Summer Time Pinks Makeup Menu

Whenever I think of summer time I think hot pink nail polish, flip flops & wafts of coconut scented sun cream lotion… ahhh the sights, sounds & scents of summer! Having a recent rummage around my own beauty goodies, I thought I’d put together a summer inspired look with a selection of my current pink-toned staples to create a bright & cheery finish to my typically pale complexion. Here’s the menu ladies…

Face:

Face

N0 7 Beautifully Matte – having been persuaded by the sales lady at the No 7 counter a few weeks ago that this would put right to any horrid reflective/oily patches, I left the store feeling somewhat sceptical if I’d merely been reeled in by a good sales pitch on a Friday afternoon. Low and behold since then I’ve been sooo darn impressed with how well my skin has taken to this Matte Formula Foundation – made specifically for us oily pored gals.  This is without a doubt my must-have summer foundation of 2015!

.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer – This is one bronzer no make-up collection should be without. The beautifully buildable warm tone allows you to softly add as much (or little) sun kissed glow as you feel your complexion needs. *Click Here* to catch up on my recent review of it in more detail!

.

Rimmel Stay Blushed in Pop of Pink – No pretty-in-pink complexion would be complete without a smidgen of soft pink blush to brighten up the apples of the cheeks. Rimmel’s Stay Blushed gives me such a subtle but healthy glow and with the right bronzer can look incredibly revitalising & dewy.

Eye’s

Eyes

Urban Decay Naked 3  – Surprise, surprise ladies. Like you haven’t seen this before on Confetti & Curves, right?! 😉 Y’all know by now how much of an eye-shadow hoarder I am, yet the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette is ALWAYS my go to choice when I really want my eye’s to look their brightest. The Naked 3 selection of beautiful rose coloured shades is the perfect summery look for my pink themed transformation. Today I’m using Strange, Limit, Nooner & a light layer of trick on the bottom lash line for a hint of rose gold. I love it ❤

.

L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes in Deep Sapphire Blue – Only that my darling little sister passed this onto me I don’t think I’d ever have bought a blue mascara. In fact I’m usually found scanning the drug store shelves for the blackest of black mascara’s – avoiding colour at all cost! However seeing as it comes with the intent on brightening blue eyes I thought I’d give it a go. Rather impressed ladies I have to say. It has such a subtle hue of blue yet makes the colour of my eyes that tiny bit more striking. Thanks sis!

.

Barry M Bold White Liner Pencil – This is the most recent addition to my growing cosmetic collection. Having read about how beneficial a white liner can be for brightening up the eye’s I thought I’d give this one a go. So far it’s taking a little getting used to but it does enhance the colour ever so slightly. Have you tried a white liner yet?

.

Barry M Brow Kit – One of favourite investments this year… yes, it’s that impressive! This super-affordable little kit has worked wonders in shaping and contouring my bushy brows into some sort of neat and well-groomed order. The packaging is pretty chic looking too… well done Barry M, an all round winner!

Lips

Lips

Rimmel Apocalips – C’mon it’s my ‘Summer Time Pink’ edition, what else could I possibly choose to give a brighter flash of fuschia than this shocking shade? I must admit, bright lip colours usually unnerve me but seeing as the sun is shinning & my sunglasses are beaconing to be worn I couldn’t resist glamming up with this sassy summer shade.

So there you have it gal’s my Pink Edition Make Up Menu. What y’all think? Are you a lover of pink? What’s your favourite shade for the summer? As always let me know in the comments below – otherwise don’t forget to say a quick hello 🙂

Happy Monday Chums…

The Must-Have Make-Up Bag…

IkeaMakeUpBag

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect make up bag, yet bizarrely none of my high street finds uncovered a new little beauty-nest I loved enough to bring back home with me. Everything has either been too small, not pretty enough or just ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Maybe I’m just a hard gal to please, but when it comes to picking a cosmetic bag (for me) it needs to tick three boxes: pretty, functional and affordable. I just want something I can lift, love and admire without it overly denting the contents of my bank account.

IMG_1889

I admit, all seemed lost until a few weeks ago when a gorgeous raspberry coloured item caught my eye whilst wandering around Ikea. Honing in for a closer inspection I couldn’t believe my luck… surely I hadn’t gone and found the perfect home for all my make-up goodies?

It was indeed love at first sight, so you can imagine my inner jumps of joy when I unzipped it to discover the vast amount of room for my assortment of eye palettes, blusher compacts, lip pencils and glosses. There was even a tiny inner compartment to house my eyelash curlers and brushes, along with a roomy outer pocket to stuff any other little trinkets in. Best of all ladies *brace yourselves* it was a mere £3.75 thanks to my Ikea family card which knocked a further £1.25 of its original £5 price tag *thud of lower jaw hitting floor*

 IMG_1893

Isn’t it beeeeeautiful? *swoon* It’s made of a strong nylon material that’s wipe clean, which helps keep it free of grubby make-up finger prints and looking fresh as a daisy on the outside. Another fantastic feature is that when the bag is opened, it stays wide open due to a hidden framing around the edge of the mouth of the bag so you can clearly see what you’re looking for – makes having to drop everything and rummage through it with make-up covered mits a thing of the past!

Although the gorgeous pop of pink is what initially caught my eye (it’s not a sickly ‘bubble gum’ pink but more of a rich raspberry/cerise tone) it does comes in navy or black – always handy to know if raspberry just isn’t your thing or you’re tempted to treat your fella to a less girly version… perfect for any upcoming holidays or romantic getaways don’t you think?

I really love the chunky metal zipper, it’s incredibly heavy duty, which for me is a huge bonus considering the zips on my last few cosmetic bags have ended up jamming, sticking or simply going bust within a matter of months. I actually bought the smaller pink Ikea bag (pictured below) about a year ago to use as a pencil case and I have to say it’s still like new and showing no signs of wear, tear or zipper weakness.

IMG_1898

After a considerable amount of searching I finally found it on the Ikea website (click here) otherwise you’ll just have to haul yourself along to your nearest store to pick one up personally – not a bad thing considering there’s so many other great items on offer for around the home. If like myself you’re a ‘self confessed candle addict’ I’d advise you give them a try too as they’re relatively long lasting and the fragrances are beautiful. I always end up stocking up on a few new packs every time I visit and as a result my cupboards are currently coming down with scented tea tree lights and candle holders!

 IMG_1901 IMG_1905

For the price, these handsome little holdalls are amazing quality, durable, roomy, functional and quite the eye candy… I’ve had numerous compliments about mine so far. So if you’re also on the look-out for a dazzling new cosmetic, make up or travel bag, get yourself down to your local Ikea store… it’s well worth the trip!
