Building A Beauty Room: The Reveal…

I’ve been on my beauty blogging journey for almost 18 months now. Time flies when you’re having fun right? ūüėČ I started out with my humble make-up bag half full of staple cosmetics, yet somehow over the past year or so it’s become (almost) a full time hobby with a variety of lotions, potions and countless eye shadows that have pretty much taken over every little nook and cranny of my bedroom. Naturally, when my hubby came up with the pretty nifty solution of me ‘taking over’ the spare room I couldn’t resist the idea of having my own space to blog, create, craft and spend countless free hours conjuring up an array of fun make-up looks. What gal could resist?

After ten days of intense DIY my little beauty room/office space is finally finished. All the chipped &¬†broken nails, cursing at unfathomable flat-pack instructions, trips to the DIY store and half drunk cups of tea were certainly worth the effort, as even I’ll admit it’s turned out even better than I imagined – all thanks to Steve’s handy work and a little bit of vision and creativity on my part. I love it. From the moment I open the door to the second I close it, I feel like I’m in my own little haven.

Best of all, pretty much everything is from the shelves of Ikea so it’s super affordable. From the cute little picture shelf displaying my entire polish collection to the huge corner desk that was so easily adapted for my ring lamp. Okay, so there might be a few little extra’s I’ve picked up along the way but I couldn’t resist such pretty little accessories that really give the room a subtle sprinkle of chic femininity!

So if you’re thinking of decorating on a budget, revamping a room or simply on the look out for some sassy but affordable storage for your cosmetic bits & bobs, then I really hope this weeks video will help inspire you too!

What’s In My Work Bag?

Hey Beauty Buddies…

I was invited by the fabulous Fiona over at Fiona’s Wonderland to participate in her exciting new ‘What’s In My Bag’ blog series. Of course being a huuuuge fan of these fun features I jumped at the chance to participate! For those of you who fancy popping over to check out the interview style post live on Fiona‚Äôs blog (or maybe even get involved in the series yourself) then do take a trip over & check it out. ¬†Of course being my usual ‚ÄėYouTube Wednesday‚Äô feature, I couldn‚Äôt resist attempting a corresponding ‚ÄėWhat‚Äôs In My Work Bag‚Äô video to compliment all the action over at Fiona‚Äôs! ¬†So all‚Äôs left to do is get the kettle on & press play as I talk you through the contents of my work bag!

The Make Up Menu: Work Edition

Make Up Menu Work Edition

Happy Friday Beauty Buddies,

Oh yes it’s that glorious day when you know the weekend has finally arrived (and hopefully) you’ll have two rather blissfull days with no alarm set either. It’s time to indulge & let your locks¬†down for a girly night out or in! So as a little tribute to the end of the working week I thought I’d share my top cosmetic fancies that I use Monday – Friday to create a quick, simple & effective look for work. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up treating yourself to a few of these things over the weekend to add to your own make-up menu for¬†Monday morning. Sitting comfy? Then let’s get started…

Face

Work Face

Loreal Infallible 24 Hour – Matte: I’ve been branching out and trying a few new foundations lately & I have to admit (so far)¬†L’Oreal haven’t disappointed on price & staying power. If you’re looking for an affordable every day Matte finish full/medium coverage foundation then give this a go, it gives a beautiful airbrushed appearance to the skin.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer: This is also a newbie in my make-up collection however the formula is very light weight so if you’ve hard to cover blemishes you may need something a little heavier as the consistency is very creamy. A great light-weight every day concealer that is perfect for work.

The Collection Gorgeous Glow: This gives such a beautiful peachy tint to the skin, a pocket friendly alternative to the Soap & Glory Peach Party in my humble opinion.

Real Techniques Duo Fibre Brush: This helps gives an even glow without the risk of applying too much blush or bronzer. If you often find yourself a little heavy-handed with dressing your cheeks then give this bristly little cosmetic companion a whirl¬†– you won’t regret the investment!

Eyes

Work Eyes

Gosh Cosmetics Length N Build Mascara: I’m mega impressed with how much volume and length this affordable mascara gives my lashes – perfect for everyday use with no frequent flaking.

Bourjois ColorBand Eye Shadow & Liner Pencil in 04 Rose Fauviste: Forget faffing with palettes, this gorgeous eye shadow pencil from Bourjois gives the lids a quick wash of colour & a lovely creamy feel with no cracking or premature fading.

The Natural Collection Shadow in Asteroid: For a mere ¬£1.99 I’m SO impressed with these cute little eye-shadow solo’s. I love a quick wash of Asteroid or Milk Chocolate on the outer crease to give a quick pop of definition.

Rimmel Eye Liner in Nude: Perfect for brightening up tired eyes and bringing out the colour just that little bit more.

Barry M Eyebrow Kit: Yes, you’re probably tired of reading¬†me whittle on about how great this teeny compact is but I’m telling you ladies it’s such an effective yet inexpensive way to shape and define your brows. It really does have all you need to complete the look.

Work Lips

MUA Sweet Sheen Lip Balm in Coral Reef: You know I’m all about the balm this weather gals & after discovering this little MUA beauty for a mere ¬£2 it’s the perfect companion for a quick wash of colour. It’s also super hydrating for dry lips… best of both worlds right?¬†Quick & effective = win win!

Finished Look

Taa Daa… my¬†final look for work. Created in minutes but lasts all day (okay, maybe a little balm touch up is required but who’s grumbling at such a pretty colour right?!)

What’s your current favourites for a simple¬†office look? How long do you spend on a work day beauty regime? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below. Wishing y’all an awesome weekend ūüėČ
