As most of you know I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to nail polish. For me there is nothing more eye catching than a sprinkle of sparkle to dress up those digits. So seeing as the festive party season is upon is I couldn’t resist the thought of opting for a sparkly red nail to compliment my seasonal mood…

The Base
My first choice is this glorious ‘Red Passion’ by Max Factor Nailfinity collection. Considering that I don’t usually wear red regularly this baby bottle is the ideal size. It may be compact but what it lacks in volume it surely makes up for in colour oomf. A glossy ruby red That’s incredibly eye catching!
Unlike a few other red shades I’ve tried in the past it’s not too watery or streaky to apply, and although the brush is small in comparison to others it’s actually a blessing for those with more petite nail beds… I often find the larger applicator brushes quite clumsy when it comes to painting the pinkies. At £5.99 it may not be the best value for money in terms of size but it’s certainly a great formula that holds a glossy shine considerably longer than many of it’s rivals.

The Top Coat
To give my nails the ultimate Christmassy feel I finished off the look by adding a gorgeous sparkly top coat of NYC Crystal Couture Ruby Queen. This immediately caught my eye on the shelf as firstly it’s more of a micro glitter as opposed to huge sparkly chunks – which I personally find a nightmare to remove! Just a few strokes of this and it totally transforms a classic red into a dazzling party look. At £2 it’s a steal, and although it’s the perfect fashion accessory for Christmas I’m pretty certain it will continue to get plenty of use well into the new year!
