How To: Chrome Powder Nail Tip (with a dash of sparkly holo)…

If you’re a nail tech, or even if you’re just obsessed with nails, you’ll probably be only too familiar with the chrome powder trend that’s been sweeping the nation over the past few months. Now while I’m not personally a huge fan of it on my own talons (it doesn’t seem to compliment my pink sausage like fingers) there’s no denying it does look impressive elsewhere… a hefty mix of futuristic meets chic.

Having invested in a few pots of powder, I’ve been playing around with it over a number of weeks – some clients love it some just aren’t so sure. However, for those that simply want a touch of chrome, this funky metallic nail design could be just what the nail tech ordered! And yes, it’s super easy peasy – no degrees in artistic nail studies required!!! *hooray*

So if you’re thinking of investing in some mirror powder or a little pot of chrome, then why not check out this week’s chatter as it may help sprinkle some design inspiration when creating a few eye-catching looks for yourself!

Is that the kettle I hear? 😉 Time to grab a coffee and get comfy… don’t forget, you can *click here* to subscribe to the Confetti & Curves YouTube channel so you never miss an upload!

What’s your thoughts on chrome nails? Are you mad for metallics? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below so do stop by and say a quick hello gals 🙂

The Nail File: Gel Polish Vertical Ombre with Mermaid Dust…

Howdy nail addicts & beauty buddies…

If like me, you spend far too much time deliberating over a trio of gorgeous colours, why settle for one when you can have all 3? Yep, my thoughts exactly chums 😀 as this week I talk through one of my favourite nail looks for virtually any season – a gorgeous vertical ombre *happy sigh* However, not only have I combined three of my most coveted colours; being the sparkle-obsessed magpie that I am, I just couldn’t resist a sprinkling of mermaid dust to give the finished look a gorgeous subtle shimmer.

Note for fellow Nail Techs: If you haven’t already invested in mermaid dust then I insist you treat yourself on your next nail art spree. This stuff is SUPER popular, gorgeous over virtually any shade of gel polish and perfect for any season. Whatsmore, it’s the perfect compromise for those clients that like a hint of shimmer without going full bling. Voila!

.

Anyways, time to grab your cuppa and nestle back into your comfiest chair for a few minutes as I chatter through how to create this easy peasy nail art look that is a must-have option for those who either can’t decide on a delicious range of shades or those who simply love to glam up their nails with an eye-catching paint job 😉

Are you a fan of the ombre look? What trio of colours would you opt for? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to know, don’t forget to say a quick howdy in the comments below🙂

Headache, mascara stained eyes, gasping for water, blisters in places that defy how the heck they got there… all this could only mean one thing = girls night out! Yes, I’m mildly suffering today (to put it politely) but what a fabulous night. It’s not every daughter that gets to celebrate her mum’s hen night, however as my own mama prepares to walk down the ailse (for the second time) on 31st August it was only but necessary to give her the best send off we could muster up – well actually, my little sis done all the planning whilst the rest of us were given the itinerary 😀 Unfortunately, as I’m not regularly accustomed to cocktails, I’m limited to a mere few before it’s time to call it a night – yep, 2 strawberry daiquiris and I’m off like a demented hyena. Never the less many selfies were taken, laughs were had & memories were made 😀

So if like me, you plan on wasting an entire day cooped up on the couch and taking it easy then maybe you’ll want to scan your eyes over a few of the fun shenanigans that’s been happening on Confetti & Curves this week.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything out of the ordinary?

Bundle Monster Lotus Mat…

As a Nail Technician, I’m all for anything that makes my life a little easier – particularly when it comes to hand painting teeny tiny intricate designs that’s just about visible to the naked eye, swatching colours and figuring out what stamping polishes or glitters go best on dark or light contrasting backgrounds. But what could possibly offer all these helpful design aids in one handy dandy roll up gadget?! Cue the Bundle Monster Lotus Mat.

Apart from looking as pretty as silicone could be (and saving my beloved nail station from endless colourful mishaps) the Lotus Mat Nail Art Workstation has literally become one of my most frequently used nail art necessities. Okay, so I could battle on through without it, but the handy little features this mat has to offer will undoubtedly give a helping hand to experienced nail pro’s or budding nail art enthusiasts. Either way if you adore creating, stamping, painting and swatching then check out today’s YouTube chatter as I showcase one of my most cherished nail tools to date!

Aloha Beauty Chums…

How’s your weekend been? Have you been up to anything exciting? It’s been pretty hectic here – in a good way thankfully, as Emma’s been working hard on her summer tests, we’ve been shopping for wall paper (I’ve taken a notion to spruce up a few rooms in the house) and it’s been nail art galore as I’ve been working hard on creating some fun new styles and testing out new techniques. Today I’ll be creating some gorgeous encapsulated styles in prep for a client who’s loving the idea of having roses under clear acrylic, hopefully I’ll get some reveal shots up pretty soon!

As always, for those of you taking it easy this sunny Sunday, why not check out some of the shenanigans that’s been happening on Confetti & Curves this past week… and if you have a blog post you’d like me to check out by all means leave it in the comments below – I’d love to stop by and have a read 🙂

Off now to top up my coffee cup and get started on some nail art – see you’s all soon…

The Nail File: Summer Shenanigans…

The Nail File

Considering the sun seems to be in hiding these days I’m barely clinging onto the final weeks of summer, hopeful that there’s still a few rays of sunshine to come our way. But of course all these rainy afternoons hemmed up Confetti & Curves HQ can only mean for one thing… nail art galore. And this week has been no exception as I’ve been trying out some fun freehand styles that have really helped put me back in the holiday mood. Check this fun bunch out…

.

Marble Gel Nail Art

I love this swirly/marbled gel effect using two of my favourite colours for summer – hot pink and turquoise blue. I just adore how the black adds a whole other level of contrast and makes the colours pop… of course all topped off with a dollop of bling 😉

.

Strawberry Nail Art

What could be more symbolic of summer than a big juicy strawberry… on your nail! What fun this design is for a cute accent nail on the fingers or tootsies. Never the less it’s just a bit of fruity fun that’s put me right in the mood for a strawberry daiquiri *nom*

.

Fruit Nail Art Design

Life’s a peach – sorry just couldn’t help myself to another cheesy cliche 😉 However this cute little peach accent nail was super fun to create and surprisingly easy to design. Simple, chic & a bit of cheeky fun!

.

Watermelon Nail Art Pic

As much as I loved creating this fun watermelon nail I’m utterly gutted about how blue the tip came out on the image as in reality it’s a beautiful bright shade of green. Maybe it’s just my dodgy laptop screen but in real life this is such an eye catching contrast of summery hues!

.

Liquid Glamour Galaxy Nail

I completely forgot about this design until I stumbled across it again last night, this was my attempt at a glittery galaxy nail that I created a few weeks ago. Although the camera isn’t capturing the sparkle too well this really glistens in the light and just looks like a mesmerising galaxy on the nail. This would be the perfect accent nail for a solid purple, blue or glossy black gel polish!

Moyou London Stamping Plate

I must admit having watched countless videos on YouTube, I was always under the impression that working with intricate patterns and multiple colours would probably be a bit of a challenge for little ole me… I’m not afraid to admit that freehand isn’t exactly where my skill level lies!! However all those qualms have certainly been scuppered thanks to the handy dandy clear jelly stamper that you can purchase from Amazon (a lifesaver when it comes to placing your art directly onto the nail bed) and of course the super quality of the MoYou London stamping plates, their incredibly cute packaging *swoon*AND the gazillions of nifty designs that’s available. A Sneak Peek At ‘Liquid Glamour’s’ Glitter Nail Art…

Glitter Nail Art

It’s been frustration city here at Confetti & Curves HQ this week chums, as my camera’s HD card is officially MIA = no YouTube upload this today! I know, I know, I’m devastated as I’m so blooming picky about being regimental with my scheduling, but it is what it is and unfortunately I can’t conjure another video out of mid air so soon. Soooo the plan is to reschedule to Friday. However not all is doom & gloom as I’ve picked up a replacement card already and have my cam fully charged to roll! Bring on the filming *happy sigh*

However this means I’ve a little free blog spot today to show you guys a few of my recent nail art designs… particularly as some of you have been eagerly requesting to see what designs I’ve been creating!! Thankfully it’s all going as well as can be and I’m just so blooming chuffed to be able to create some gorgeous acrylic extensions from my stash of new nail goodies. Don’t forget to pop over & hit the LIKE button on the LIQUID GLAMOUR Facebook page where you’ll be able to keep up with all my latest nail shenanigans. In the mean time here’s a quick peek at what creations I’ve been getting up to over the last few days…

Liquid Glamour Glitzy Leopard Print Nail

I’m loving this fun and funky animal print over encapsulated gold glitter! Perfect for an accent nail don’t you think?

.

Liquid Glamour

Keeping it really simple and chic in this one as I combine stamping & freehand to create a sweet butterfly & floral design over one of my favourite gel polish colours, Cake Pop. How cute is that name?!

.

Liquid Glamour Raspberry & Purple Glitter

This is a fun and funky mix of raspberry, purple and green iridescent glitter has a real fizzy playfulness to it!

.

Liquid Glamour Galaxy Nail

I created this Galaxy nail using a mix of cosmic coloured glitters and acrylic paint to give a ‘milky way’ effect. Perfect for any sci-fi fan 😀

.

Liquid Glamour Glitzy Pewter

Lastly this classic encapsulate rose-gold stiletto nail has got to be one of my favourites this week. It’s simple yet adds a sassy accent and goes incredibly well with pinks, nudes and soft earthy colours to jazz things up a little.

Name Reveal & Winner Announcement…

Winner

If y’all cast your memories back a week, hard I know considering I can barely remember what happened yesterday let alone a whole 7 days, you may recall I posted a “Help Me Name My Nail Business” which was open to suggestions both on the blog & various forms of social media.

Well gals, I’m thrilled to announce that after a week of mulling & chewing over the MANY creative suggestions you guys came up with I finally decided on a name I adore, and one that best represents how I want the branding of my new nail adventure to be!

And the winner is…

Winner name

Thank you to Deborah who kindly suggested the fabulous name: ‘Liquid Glamour‘. Deborah I LOVE it!!! It was love at first sight with this name… though one of your others certainly gave me a giggle. Looking forward to meeting you for your Gel Polish mani! 😀

.

Runner Up

However as Nicola suggested adding my name onto the end of Liquid Glamour, which adds a little personal touch I simply had to have a runner up! I adore this suggestion Nicola so thanks for adding your idea, I hope you enjoy your Champney’s polish set!

The Manicure Menu: Lush Lilacs…

Lilac Nail Polish Collection

If there’s one colour I always feel drawn to when shopping for nail polish, it’s lilac. Okay, so some often see it as a bit wishy-washy but in my opinion it’s beeeeautiful. Girly but not tooooo girly, soft enough to go with most outfits, a great everyday colour, works in summer, works in winter… particularly in some of the gorgeous icy shades *swoon*

So to pay homage to such a versatile shade, I’ve showcased some of my very own luscious lilacs and prettiest purples! Sitting comfy? Then let’s take a closer peek at today’s mani menu…

.

Barry M Chameleon Nail Polish in Lilac

Barry M Chameleon Lilac Nail Polish

A gorgeous icy- grey is what this can only be described as. It really is a stunning multi-tonal shade that has to be seen in real-life to be fully appreciated! I quite often wear these colours in winter as they’re just so fresh and crisp, however these cool tones are equally beautiful for summer months and go with so many outfit colours too! Ideal for those who love metallics but prefer just a slight whisper of lilac. For extra longevity coat nails with a layer of micro sparkle polish… it’ll help lift the icy tone, bring out the metallics and keep your colour as long-lasting as possible!

.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Prickly Pear

Barry M Gelly Shine in Prickly Pear

For me this is the classic ‘lavender’ tone. It’s so darn pretty, and surprisingly beautiful on soft tanned tootsies – if anything it makes the tan stand out just a little bit more. A classic holiday shade, this is one shade of lilac I never get tired of wear. The formula of the Gelly Shine could be a little thicker in my opinion as it can be quite streaky unless several coats are applied, however if worn correctly & with a high quality top-coat this can look amazing. I love it ❤

.

Rimmel London 60 Second Super Shine in Lovey dovey

Rimmel London 60 Second Shine in Lovely Dovey

I love, love, LOVE this colour. Rimmel always seem to get their shades bang on trend, and how cute is the name?! A classic soft berry shade this beautiful polish can actually look quite deep compared to the bottle. For me this is the perfect playful purple shade for summery themed nails. It’s bright and beautiful – a treat to wear all year round in fact. Check out the huuuuge range of colours on the Rimmel London website in the link below!

.

Avon Nail Wear Pro

Avon Nail Wear Pro

This colour always reminds me of Parma Violets, do you remember those strange little sweeties that taste suspiciously like wild flowers? Natually it smells nothing like them but as for the nail colour it’s a stunner. Soft grey undertones make it such a great colour for everyone. It’s not too girly, yet still eludes a touch of sweet femininity. Is there any colour this shade wouldn’t work with right now? Okay, so the formula could be a little longer lasting considering it’s branded as a ‘pro’ product, however with a great top coat it’s pretty resilient up to about 4/5 days before any wear or tear starts showing. Pretty standard, but the tone wins me over every time 🙂

New York Color In A Minute Nail Polish in Prince Street

NYC Quick Dry Nail Polish in Prince Street

Okay, so it’s not (exactly) lilac… but…. never-the-less it’s SUCH a gorgeous shade of purple that’s perfect for a night on the town, a rich sassy colour for summer or deep dressy tone for winter. All in all it’s the ideal purple, and if truth be told one of the most popular shades I ever sold in bridesmaid dresses when I owned my bridal suites. But then, who could resist such an amazing shade? It’s a collection staple for sure as not only does it work well with bright coloured outfits, it also works incredibly well with neutral colours too. A pop of Prince Street & a pair of nude peep-toe stilettos = utterly stunning gals ❤
