Ebay Nail Dust Extractor Fan… Does It Really Work?!

Any nail tech will most likely agree that nasty dust particles & gritty teeth (if you’re not wearing a mask) generally comes as part of the job description when prepping a fresh new set of extensions or whittling down an old set. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve emerged from my little nail nook with a chest area resembling an icing sugar explosion from the Great British Bake Off! Apart from my recurring ‘dusty boobs’, there’s also the nail desk, lamp, shelves, floor, books, my eyelashes – EVERYTHING gets a sprinkling of the white stuff when the hum of my nail drill starts up. Needless to say, it certainly keeps Tesco’s sales up on furniture polish & my beloved Henry vacuum cleaner in a job too.

“Surely to heavens breathing in that dust is horrific for your lungs” hubby pointed out a few weeks before Christmas. ” Yep” I sighed, blattering my bosom fiercely. So after dropping a few sledgehammer sized hints, I tore open a pressie on Christmas morning to reveal the dust extractor I’d dropped into conversation (MANY times) throughout December. Of course, having spotted it on Ebay, after wincing over the price tags of the much bigger & more powerful extractors, I thought to myself that anything is better than nothing and so I was delighted to receive my very own little ‘starter’ edition that would hopefully save me a few quid on cleaning paraphernalia and most importantly, save my lungs from the nasty dust particles.

So after it sat in a box for a few weeks, I finally found the chance to relay my first impressions… Is it really any good? Or has £30 been flushed down the drain? I guess you’ll have to make yourself comfy and press play to find out…

Beauty Blender Versus W7 Power Puff…

As a Real Technique’s Miracle Complexion Sponge chick, I’m probably one of the last remaining (if not THEE last remaining) beauty blogger to try & test the Beauty Blender… a globally renowned make-up sponge that almost everyone gushes over. So when I gidily pulled one of these intriguing little treasures out of my Christmas stocking I was determined to hold out trying it for myself until I found a bargain alternative to test it against… and along came the W7 Power Puff 😀

At a hefty £16, I’ve been bracing for the Beauty Blender to blow the socks clean off my expectations when it comes to foundation & concealer application – particularly when there’s countless other sponge shaped applicators out there for a whoooooole lot less dosh! However as luck would have it, whilst I was perusing the shelves of my local Gordons Chemist store, I spotted the nifty looking W7 Power Puff for a meagre £1.49. Yes gals, £1.49!! Being an avid bargain hunter I jumped at the chance to test it against such a big named rival. But is it really worth the significant saving or does the Beauty Blender retain it’s cosmetic crown? I guess there’s only one way to find out…

So if you fancy procrastinating for the next 10 minutes, I suggest you pop the kettle on, put your feet up and prepare for a battle of the blenders!

Behind The Blog featuring Chelsea from Makeup On A Tight Budget….

Makeup On A Tight Budget

Happy Tuesday Chums,

Firstly a huuuuuge thanks to all who left such an array of blush-inducing comments on yesterday’s post The Makeup Menu: Monthly Favourites. It was so much fun rounding up my favourite beauty goodies of January and creating a single look! It would seem however that quite a few of you were captivated by the Bourjois lippy – and of course not being one to prevent a gal from treating herself just *click here* if you’d like to be virtually transported to Boots where you can buy your very own!

However, onto today’s post as I make way on the virtual sofa for the gorgeous Chelsea as she takes us on a trip behind the scenes of her cosmetic craving blog: Makeup On A Tight Budget. Now I don’t know about the rest of you gals but I for one LOVE finding a great beauty bargain, so it’s for sure that Chelsea’s blog is the ideal spot for any of you’s who (like myself) enjoys a spree all whilst keeping a watchful eye on the purse strings! If fun & colourful looks paired with affordable cosmetics sounds right up your street then take a quick trip over and check it out. I’m sure you’ll have a blast catching up with all her pocket friendly, creative & inspiring features 🙂

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Makeup on a tight budget! Haha! Conviently it fits in 5 words. I try and do makeup looks for low prices because i’m a struggling college student who doesn’t have much money.

What inspired you to start blogging?

I have no idea, honestly. I suppose I was a “blogger” through my tumblr but thats not actually producing content. I began watching Youtube makeup tutorials about…2 or 3 years ago? And i thought, with my expanding collection of makeup, that maybe I could start small with a blog. So maybe not exactly inspiration but perhaps just the thought of “Hey, I can do this too!”

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

I went through a bunch of combinations of makeup and cheap and most of them were taken. So i started adding extra words until i created a new username and that’s basically how i got it.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

Yes, all the time. It’s a combination of being super tired from working and being busy writing papers and such for college as well as pure laziness. There are things i want to blog about but i have to motivate myself to do it. I overcome it by looking at other blogs, watching Youtube videos, and going shopping! (If i buy more makeup i can do more things for the blog, at least that’s what my justification for it is!)

What’s your favourite post to date?

I would have to say my blog post that was in collaboration with Madison Reed. It was the first time that a business contacted me and i was just really excited and honored. I felt like a really successful blogger after that, haha.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

This is really tough because my style is severely complicated and all over the place. I have lolita clothes,nu-goth, pastel goth, nerdy, band shirts, combat boots and heels-it is a mess. But i love it because i can always change and customize what i’m wearing to how i’m feeling. But i guess when i have to roll out of bed to head to class i pop on a pair of leggings, an oversized shirt, a beanie, and some sneakers. The leggings and shirt, though basic, provides that pop of style too.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit

Real Techniques Blending Sponge

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

SLEEP!!! Oh man, do i love a good nap! Sleeping just takes all the stress away and i love having blankets piled on top of me.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

To be gonest, staying at home crafting or watching Youtube videos, horror movies or wrestling (i’m a big WWE fan!) This is what i do most days. I’m not a party animal and i prefer to curl up with my cat.

What do you do to relax?

Craft my butt off. I love going on Youtube or Pinterest and getting inspired to do something. I’ll make a total mess in my room and wont want to clean it up later but i can at least be productive, have fun, and do something i enjoy. My hot glue gun is my best friend!

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

Not putting enough lotion on/moisturizing. My skin is dry because i have psorasis and i should really be better about combating that, especially on my face and elbows.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

This is an extremely hard one. I think maybe one of my birthdays. I used to live in New York and so for my birthday my aunt got me a new American Girl Doll and we went to the cafe that was upstairs in the Manhattan store. It was extremely expensive and the most luxurious thng I had ever done.

What’s your dream job?

Well this year i’ll hopefully be on my way to mortuary school. So i’ll be a mortician and i want to have a career where i’m happy and can provide for my family. But technically, i’ve always wanted to be a writer and create a series of books as popular as the Harry Potter series.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I never plan ahead that far. I take days one day at a time and let my life take me wherever it’s supposed to go.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Get my Mortician’s license, write a book, get published, get two cats from the shelter and name them Ulta and Sephora, have the dream closet i’ve always wanted and the money to buy it, travel to the Scandinavian and Nordic countries.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Making it to my 4th year of college, realizing I wanted to be a mortician, getting control over my depression and growing as a person!

Who inspires you?

Honestly, Michelle Phan. She may seem overrated but she started from the bottom and makes money and has successful businesses. J.K.Rowling is the same in this aspect and inspires me as a writer, and Mrs_Angemi (on instagram)inspires me to be in STEM work and get down and dirty with the deceased. With each of my passions i have different people who inspire me and that I look up too. There are tons of Youtubers i can name as well, but i’ll keep it short:)

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Go for it. Dont base your blog off of anyone elses. Dont do it with the intent of being famous. Make a blog full of your passions and do it because you like it. Make your voice heard.

Tea or Coffee = Neither! I hate them both!

Coke or Pepsi = Pepsi

Messy mayhem or Super Organised = Chaotic Neutral, a balance

Cute kitten or Playful puppy = Kittens!

Night In or Night Out = Night in

Heels or Flats = Flats

Lip Stick or Lip Gloss = Lip stuck

Rock Chick or Pop Princess = Rock chick

Paperback or E-book = Oh man…both? I love paperbacks but I’m running out of room!

My Top 5 Beauty Finds Under £5…

Morning Chums,

No matter how obsessed I am with my favourite high-end brands, my inner thrifty diva adores regularly discovering a selection of great beauty bargains. In fact if anything I’ve become addicted to sourcing some of the best dupes to rival a few of the priciest cosmetic players in the beauty business! With drug store make-up stands literally awash with such a vast choice of products it’s no huge surprise that every once in a while a few little gems are uncovered that knock the spots of their tiny price tags.

In this week’s video I take a rummage through the depts of my cosmetic case to uncover 5 of my most used (and treasured) finds of the month – all of which are under £5. That’s right ladies, prepare yourself for guilt-free shopping with this lovely lot as they’re all at super sassy pocket-friendly prices 😉

Do you have a recent favourite find with a bargain price tag you’d recommend to others? If so I’d love to read about it in the comments below, otherwise don’t forget to say a quick hello – it’s always a treat catching up with you lovely lot!

The Me Spree: Ikea & Homeware Haul…

Happy Wednesday Y’all

As many of you already know from a few of my previous posts I’ve been doing a teeny bit of redecorating around the house and of course with that comes the need to take a trip to our nearest Ikea store to see what goodies I can fill my fresh new rooms with. Thankfully this time I didn’t go too nuts in the aisles of my favourite Swedish homeware store but kept it to a few key essentials. What girl can resist a few pretty storage items… isn’t that right ladies?! I’ve also managed to throw in a few other random little nifty finds I spotted this month that I’m pretty sure will come in rather handy too 😉

Don’t forget: if you have a YouTube channel you’d like me to check out do feel free to post the link below! Wishing you all a fabulous Wednesday & do leave a quick hello in the comments below – hope you enjoy the haul chatter ❤
