Valentines Nails featuring Ted Baker…

Happy Valentines Nails

As much as I repeatedly fall head over heels in love with soft muted neutrals, for me there’s nothing quite like a splash of sparkle to really catch the eyes of any admirer. Of course quite a few of my regular readers will be aware of just how much I was gushing over the stunning Ted Baker beauty box in Mondays post: Ted Baker Brilliance of Beauty Box Set. Apart from a treasure trove full of gorgeous rose gold & crisp white cosmetic goodies, there was two very pretty nails polishes included in the set as well. Being slightly uhhhbsessed with tinted talons at the moment I couldn’t wait to give these gorgeous shades a test drive myself…

Ted Baker Nail Polish

However, as Valentines days is almost upon us I really wanted to go for a chic yet signature look – and what better way to achieve this than a wash of Ted Baker soft latte with a single glitzy ‘feature nail’ to mark such a loved up occasion? Naturally, a bold and vibrant red sprang to mind as I began imagining how gorgeous the contrast would be between an eye catching pillar box red and the soft muted grey tones of the latte.

Ted Baker Nail Polish

For the main colour I used the Ted Baker on all my nails apart from the opposing ring fingers. Did it apply well? Hmm, I have to say on initial application it seemed a little too streaky for my liking as it was very thin in consistency, however the second coat really helped to bulk up the impact of the colour. The only thing I wasn’t consistently impressed with was the brush *sigh* For such a reputable brand it just seemed so cheap and difficult to work with. There was no resistance in the nylon bristles and if I didn’t know better I would have assumed it was more along the lines of a cheaper range. Having said that even some of my most inexpensive varnishes have great brushes, so why can’t Ted Baker step up to the mark? As a coveted brand with a cult following of label lovers I’m pretty surprised that the only thing to really let down this polish was the brush – something that really does make one heck of a difference when it comes to applying a smooth layer of polish.

Valentines Nail

Anyways, forgetting about the brush… the dried (two coat) finish of the polish is beautiful and with a extra strong top coat could easily last well up to (or beyond) a week, so pretty much above average in terms of lifespan. As for me, I rebelled and choose to live dangerously without the protection of a top coat, just to see how long I could get without any chips or wear. Disappointingly, I only managed to reach day 3 before signs of stress started to show. However once I finally succumbed to reapplying with a top coat, I’m now well into day 6 and it still looks pretty darn fresh!

NYC Crystal Couture and Max Factor Nailfinity

As for my ‘feature nail; I couldn’t think of a better duo than this gorgeous pair of hotties. Its the Max Factor Nailfinity & NYC Crystal Couture in Ruby Queen. For this look I only used one coat of the Max Factor as a base and built the rest up with two gloriously glittery coats of the sparkliest red polish I could dig out of my collection. The Crystal Couture really lifts the nail and makes it look like a miniature match of those gorgeous little ruby slippers that Dorothy wore from Wizard of Oz. It’s vibrant, vivacious and oh-so-perfect for Valentines don’t you think gals?

Ted Baker NYC Crystal Couture Max Factor Nails

How do you like the final result? Personally I’m loving the soft muted shade with a vibrant pop of ruby red. It’s super eye catching and the perfect finger accessory for a fun Valentines mani look! Speaking of which, wishing every one of you a wonderful weekend filled with love… regardless of whether you’re married, single or just ready to mingle. Make it a fabulous one ladies ❤

50 Things That Make Me Happy

Happy Friday Chums…

I’ve a slightly different little post today for you all to feast your peepers upon as the gorgeous Katie from Plus Beauty tagged me to share with y’all 50 Things That Make Me Happy, and of course not being one to turn down such a fun challenge I jumped at the chance to accept her nomination!

Now apart from the obvious… family, great friends etc I’ve compiled a list of 50 rather random things that tend to ignite a smile or (at the very least) a warm fuzzy feeling of contentment from life. Sitting comfy? Then let’s get started….

.

1) Wild flowers – I’ve got a vase full of them that I’m admiring right now.

.

2) Taking a ridiculously long time to put my makeup up – it’s my mini therapy session.

.

3) Taking my makeup off after a loooong day. That fresh face feeling after marinading myself in moisturiser is just bliss.

.

4) Finding a crafty little parking space in a crowded car park… it always warrants an enthusiastic air punch.

.

5) The smell of books.

.

6) Christmas Eve, festive pj’s & a huuuuge mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows & cream.

.

7) Receiving packages in the mail – the postman doesn’t even get to knock before I launch myself out the door to grab his package *ooo errr missus* 😮

.

8) Remembering old toys from childhood with my sister.

.

9) The smell of new carpet.

.

10) Finding a forgotten £10 note in a random coat pocket.

12) Scarves of any description – apart from itchy ones of course.

.

13) Autumn.

.

14) New stationery.

.

15) Post it notes in any shape, size or colour.

.

16) Anything with Owls on it.

.

17) The smell of petrol/bleach/chlorine – yep, I’m a weirdo.

.

18) The fact that I can *finally* master false eyelashes!!!!!!

.

19) Dipping a mars bar into a cup of hot tea. Aaaaahmazing.

.

20) My blog.

.

21) My blog buddies.

.

22) Laughing so much your stomach aches.

.

23) Listening to the rain beating against the window whilst curled up in bed with a great book (and my hubby!).

.

24) Catching up with old friends & making great new ones.

.

25) The smell (& feel) of freshly washed bedding… so crisp & clean.

.

26) Waking up & realising I’m not for work but can have a lazy lie-in instead.

.

27) Smoked bacon sandwiches with brown sauce & tomato ketchup.

.

28) Watching huge waves crashing onto the shore.

.

29) Being near water: swimming pools, beaches, lakes… you get the idea.

.

30) Throwing things out & de-cluttering.

.

31) Spending a solitary few hours browsing the shelves of Superdrug/Boots.

.

32) Reading a REALLY good book – the type you read slowly so the ending won’t come so quick.

.

33) Waking up & feeling a warm spot on the duvet cover from the sun peaking through the blinds.

Saying Goodbye…

Saying goodbye gran

This is undoubtedly one of the hardest posts I’ve ever written, but I feel it needs to be done. When I started this little blog back in October 2014 I never realised just how much it would affect my life – not in a bad way but in an amazing way. It has helped me through some of the toughest days… days where I felt like I’ve wanted to crawl into a ball under my duvet & cry the hours away. When battling Anxiety, GAD & OCD, life can be pretty torturous on the so called ‘bad’ days. However logging onto WordPress & reading such kind, supportive & encouraging comments from people I’ve never even met has given me so much confidence & helped rebuild what was once a crumbling shell of self-esteem. You guys (my readers & blog buddies) have been beyond amazing; therefore sharing my lows (as well as highs) just seems like the natural thing to do…

.

On Saturday morning I received a phone call from my uncle. He was barely audible. Between sobs he tried to tell me what was wrong… my beautiful little 83 year old grandmother had taken a major heart attack in her nursing home. At the time my uncle called me, the cardiac crew were desperately trying to revive her heart. As they reached the hospital both doctors & nurses battled tirelessly to bring her back but she just wasn’t strong enough & we lost her. Even writing those words seem unreal ‘we lost her’.

.

Since then I’ve cried so many tears I feel like I’ve lost half of my body weight (checking in the mirror this morning, no such luck *rolls a set of very puffy eyes*) However waking up on Sunday, my first thought was ‘today is the first day of my life I have woke up without my wee granny in the world’. Immediately panic set in, anxiety took over. and well, I’m pretty sure you can imagine the rest…

.

Although Confetti & Curves is my little online beauty haven where I usually ramble on about the multitude of things cluttering up my vanity table, over time I’ve interwoven a little bit of my personal life into my posts too. As my gran was such an integral part of my life & helped me through so much, she is someone I cherish with every inch of my being, love with all my heart & admire so greatly. I feel it poignant to share her memory, to pay tribute to the woman who was a second mother to me & gave all of her heart to those she loved the most. My only consolation from her death is that she is no longer suffering but called back home to a place where death & pain have no existence.

.

So please (if it’s possible) tell your loved ones just how much they mean to you. Hug them, kiss them & savour every single moment you have with them. Hold every memory as close to your heart as possible as someday you too will have to face the heartache of saying goodbye for the last time.

Gran, I miss you with every beat of my aching heart. I Love you more than words could ever begin to describe. Till we meet again…

The Look Of Love…

The Look Of Love

Hello Lovelies…

Can you believe it’s February already? Nope, me either. However seeing as it’s the first post of such a loved up month I thought it was only fitting to start it off with a sprinkling of fashion inspiration for all those ladies who’ll be stepping out in style this Valentines night. So whether you’re off to see the highly anticipated 50 Shades Of Grey or cosying up in your favourite restaurant with your other half, it’s inevitable you’ll want an outfit to impress…

 Valentines Style

 1) I spotted this gorgeous hot pink dress whilst flicking through the latest Simply Be catalogue. I absolutely adore the vibrant colour and sassy little metallic waist band detail… best of all it’s available in sizes 12-32 *click here* for more details.

 2) What glamour obsessed gal doesn’t love a metallic clutch? I spotted this gorgeous little number on Chic Bag and thought it would tie in perfect with my Valentines outfit choices. Shockingly (I hope you’re sitting down) it’s reduced from £180 down to a staggering £11.99!

 3) If you love layering up your lashes then Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is right up your street. Its hourglass shaped brush and lash lengthening formula will undoubtedly bestow you with movie-star eyes. Available from Debenhams.

 4) This is probably one of my all time favourite perfumes… Miss Dior is a fragrance that I can only describe as liquid love in the most daintily pretty little bottle. After my hubby treated me to a bottle at Christmas I’ve been hooked ever since. Check out the scent-sational range of Dior fragrances available from Boots.

 5) What outfit would be complete without a statement MAC lippy to add a perfect pop of colour? This gorgeous shade ‘All Fired Up’ is one of my favourite passionate pink tones. Check it out by visiting the MAC store online.

 6) I’ve recently just discovered this beautiful bronzer from Vivo. For only £4.99 this stunning velvety-soft bronze powder is not to be missed. Just *click here* to check it out on Vivo’s website… who knows what other beauty bargains you’ll stumbled across?

7) Any of the Urban Decay palettes are worthy of a mention, however seeing as we’re sticking to silvery tones for my Valentines outfit choice what could be more perfect than the sumptuous shades of the Naked 2 collection? I’m in love! *swoon*

8) Now ladies most of you know only too well how much I love my glitter, so when I spotted these cute little hot pink hearts on Etsy I knew they’d be the perfect Valentines accessory – without running the risk of looking like a misplaced Christmas bauble! They’ll add the perfect little sprinkle of shimmer to your lobes. Grab your pair from LittleBearsMom Etsy shop.

9) Having spent the last few months encased in winter boots, I’m looking for any excuse to step out in sassy little strappy sandals. Available from ASOS, this pair of stunning stilettos are guaranteed to add the perfect finishing touch to any loved up outfit… just don’t forget to treat yourself to a little pedi-party before stepping out in style.
