Anneco Beauty: Natural Skin Care & Makeup

Anneco

“Ann Shields is an original ‘Galway Girl’ who is now based in Co. Laois. Her love of the natural way of living comes from growing up on a homely Irish farm. Ann has a background in beauty and has International qualifications in Aestheticienne and Makeup Artistry. Through her interest in cosmetics Ann began researching natural alternatives to the industrious chemical laden makeup, which have swamped the shops. Empowering women to feel and look their optimum inspired Ann to develop a range of mineral makeup.

Ann noticed a movement towards natural products and began to research how to make cosmetics – maintaining her focus on the creation of more natural beauty products. Her products are formulated using organic plant extracts where possible. She completed cosmetic courses in London including a course with a U.S. based botanical blends tutor Cinda Phelps. Cinda was a formulator for Jane Iredale foundation brand before setting up her own business. Ann began working with Natural Cosmetic researchers and alongside Dr. Brian O’Rourke from Carlow Institute of Technology the unique formulas were developed.”

The Belfast Soap Company: Natural Handmade Soap

Belfast Soap Company

“Look at the labelling on soap in supermarkets. Often, nowhere on the packaging will you find the word “soap”. That is because they are actually detergent bars, very cleverly advertised.

Did you know that your skin can absorb up to 94% of what you put on it? Research has shown that the average female in the UK exposes herself to 515 synthetic chemicals a day during her normal grooming and make-up routine. That is a shocking statistic.

Rather than using ingredients that may be harmful and could have adverse effects on your long-term health, it makes sense to choose natural products for your home and family.

This is why we are committed to making only 100% natural products – it’s what we do.”

The premises are distinctive, inspired and are testament to the success of the founding makeup academy and Ciara’s esteemed position within the Northern Irish Makeup Artist Industry.

Lucy Annabella: Luxury Bath & Body

Lucy Annabella

“Colleen Harte was inspired to create Lucy Annabella Organics when she realised that ‘being organic’ is as much about what we put on our bodies as what we put into them.

Blank Canvas: Brushes & Cosmetics

Blank Canvas

“Our philosophy is simple : We see the face as a “blank canvas” with endless possibilities.  We are an online cosmetic brand based in Ireland bringing you quality at an affordable price. Our affordable prices aim to save you money on expensive customs and shipping charges that often happens when ordering from international countries.”

Super Facialist by Una Brennan:

Una Brennan

“Úna’s aim is to attain plump, vibrant, glowing, healthy skin at any age and for every skin type from the inside and out. Her belief is simple: “Skin is magnificently clever but at a very basic level it needs water in the cells and to be able to breathe”.

Her sought after facial treatments fulfil this basic need – they are logical, thorough with every single stage important, but most importantly they work with the skin, not against it. And just as all of our skin is the same but different, much like a fingerprint, so too are Una’s facials – they are all of similar structure but are, in every respect, bespoke. Her clients never know quite what they are going to get when they come in, from a freezing cold power ball of frozen enzymes (her favourite treatment to revitalise – icy cold!) to a physically lifting and plumping lymph drainage mask or to phytoplacenta sheet mask with freeze dried seaweed… there are so many combinations of treatments to hand so she can get the best targeted results for every skin.”

Behind The Blog featuring Colour Me Beautiful…

Colour Me Beautiful

Hey Beauty Buddies…

And so yet again you’s have made my day with another dose of fantastic support on yesterday’s post Contacting PR Companies! Like I’d mentioned previously, it’s a bit of a sensitive subject to write about as some bloggers have some seriously varied views on the topic, but low & behold many of you were superbly grateful for the feature & I’m beyond delighted it was received in the best possible way… as merely a smidgen of encouragement & guidance for those amongst us who are indeed ready to take on the blogisphere one PR at a time 😀

Talking of blogispheres, it’s that time of the week once again where I prep the virtual sofa for yet another blog buddy as I have the lovely Catherine from Colour Me Beautiful joining me today for a quick peak behind the scenes of her budding beauty & lifestyle blog.

Just as the name suggests, Catherine’s blog sprinkles our news-feeds with a splash of colourful posts as she features some of her favourite products, beauty chatter and in-depth reviews. Of course being Irish (and a cat lover) I’m naturally biased to singing her praises, but for those who haven’t checked it out already then do get yourself over pronto! She’s such a lovely gal who’s warmth spills naturally into her blogging.

So without further ado, it’s time to grab your cuppa and chillax for five as we take a peek Behind The Blog...

30 Day Mascara… worth the hype?

Howdy chums…

As most of you know from last weeks Random Beauty Haul, I picked up an intriguing little item called the 30 Day Mascara. Unsurprisingly, of all the products mentioned in my mini ‘me spree’ it was one of the most requested for a review. So never one to disappoint my beauty buddies, I decided to roll up the sleeves and give it a whirl this week – keeping fingers crossed that I’d transform my lashes into long and luscious black fibres that would require minimal effort when getting ready in the morning. Yes, a lazy method to my madness 😀

.

So what’s the hype?

In less than 2-3 minutes, 30 Day Mascara gives your lashes permanent colour that looks natural and lasts for up to 30 days until your lashes fall out and are replaced by new ones. Your eyelashes appear darker, healthier and elegantly defined from root to tip giving you a more dramatic look. The dye kit can be used on eyebrows to help frame your face and enhance your features.
Kit contains enough for up to 12 applications and contains

So if you fancy procrastinating for 5 mins, giggling at the nightmarish eye protector shenangans & finding out if it really is worth the spend then get yourself comfy and just hit play. Don’t forget, you can *Click Here* to check out & subscribe to the Confetti & Curves YouTube channel so you never miss a future upload.

Have you tried the Colorsport 30 Day Mascara? What’s you’re thoughts on eye lash tinting or dying? Would it be something you’d try out for yourself? Whatever your thoughts I’d love to read them in the comments below so do stop by for a quick chatter. Thanks for watching!

Behind The Blog featuring Jessica Anne from The Lawyer Look…

The Lawyer Look

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Would it be overly cliche to say I’ve broke yet ANOTHER nail? The last remaining one with a bit of length to it *sigh* I swear they’re dropping like flies here, gone are the days of my long, strong nails only to be replaced with a set of uneven stumps*sobs* So as it stands I’m currently stocking up on Vitamin D, in hope that it’ll some how save the day with a miracle cure before I end up with a row of exposed nail beds. All I have to do is look at the damn things and they split… a trip to Holland & Barrett couldn’t have come any sooner. Hmm, moving onto a more positive note, a huuuge big thank you to all who check out yesterdays post The Makeup Revolution Menu: First Impressions. As always, you guys leave the best feedback and smile inducing comments – I’m chuffed to bits you liked the finished look and loved the Golden Sugar palette & 5 Baked Eye Shadows just as much as I do. I’m still swooning 🙂

However time to grab the cuppa and get yourself comfy as we welcome our first Behind The Blogger of the week… the gorgeous Jessica-Anne from her absolutely stunning blog The Lawyer Look. If clean crisp photography, sophisticated styling and great reviews sprinkled with totally relate-able writing gets your vote then you’re going to ADORE Jessica-Annes blossoming corner of the interweb. This girl really knows how to combine great features with super-stylish presentation… in fact why take my word for it when you can just pop over and check it out for yourself, but be prepared as you might be on there for some time 😀

Anyways, enough waffling from me as it’s finally time to take a quick peek behind the blog…

Jessica Anne

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Opinions from a makeup hoarder!

.

What inspired you to start blogging?

I started blogging when I got myself really into watching YouTube videos and reading other people’s blogs, and I thought ‘I want to do this’. I had a massive love for everything beauty related and I just wanted to share my own opinions with people who can actually be bothered to read them!

 .

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

My blog name changed a few times, however I settled with The Lawyer Look. It comes from the idea that I’m a law student and soon to be lawyer hence ‘The Lawyer’ and my blog is mainly beauty related hence the ‘Look’!

.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

I suffer from “Blogger’s Block” all the time, I seem to be going through it a few times every month! L However, I’m starting to try overcome it by writing about whatever I want and not putting myself into a niche. Also, I now have a little ‘Blogging Book’ where I put all my ideas in and it just means I have something to go to if I ever need a random blog idea!

.

What’s your favourite post to date? *please include link*

This is a tricky question… Can I have two?

One of my favourite is the ‘Things that made me happy in 2015’ because it was so lovely to reflect back on the year! Also, the second post I love is my most recent and it’s the ‘A-Z of me’, this was my first really personal post on my blog and I got such a lovely response for it!

.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

My every day clothes style is a cute dress and some leggings! I go more for comfortable cute clothes rather than attempting any out there style picks!

.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Foundation, Eyeliner and Mascara!!

.

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

I like to relax by sitting in my onesie with a lovely cup of tea!

.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

My ideal Saturday night would be sat relaxing on the sofa with my lovely boyfriend binge watching our favourite TV shows!

.

What do you do to relax?

I love having a Lush bath bomb bath and some lovely smelling candles!

.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

Biting my nails!

.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

I really don’t remember much of my childhood, but I think one of the earliest memories I have is walking my very first dog in the woods behind my house and playing chase with him haha!

.

What was your favourite school subject?

I’m a bit of a nerd… so it’s got to be history!

.

What’s your dream job?

I want to be a solicitor… but secretly I’d love to own a zoo…

.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years I see myself hopefully out of education and finally working as a fully qualified solicitor! Whilst being a mummy to about 15 little puppies.

.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Cuddle a baby monkey.

Have 2/3 beautiful children!

Go spend a month in China seeing the pandas and going sightseeing.

Own a villa in a different country, somewhere hot!

Get the courage to go and do a skydive!

.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

My biggest achievement is probably sticking out university and almost making it to the end! When I started I really didn’t enjoy it, but now I’m going to be graduating in a few months!

.

Who inspires you?

I don’t really have particular people that inspires me. My mum and my boyfriend have always inspired me to be a better person and to try make something of myself!

.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

I don’t!

.

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Don’t feel like you need to compare yourself to other people! Write whatever you want to write, post as many times as you want to post. I got myself stuck in a bit of a rut at the start of my blog and really didn’t know where I fitted within the blogging community. BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER. The blogging community is great, because there are so many unique people out there and it’s great to get to know them better!

Behind The Blog featuring Hannah Jayne

Hannah Jayne Blog

Hey Beauty Buddies…

For the first time in years I woke up yesterday morning to a thick blanket of fluffy white snow. Of course living by the sea, it’s not often we get a dose of the white stuff but it was such a pretty scene… like Christmas only two months too late. Yes, I admit ladies it was hard staving off the desire to play my Michael Buble Christmas Album *sigh* However this unexpected bout of wintery weather resulted in digging out the chunky knits (yet again) that were almost packed away for the season in the hope that warmer days were ahead. Not quite ready for the flip flops just yet it would seem *sobs* Naturally, being Irish, I’m accustomed to wet days but snow just tends to grind us lot to a halt. We end up in a wild panic, demanding the councils ‘do something about it’ and closing all sorts of services left, right & centre. Needless to say it’s now fully thawed out & we can all breathe a heavy sigh of relief… well, at the very least my sister can as she refuses to drive anywhere in it! Though none of us share the enthusiasm of Emma who was out making snow angels at 6:30 am in waterproofs & wellie boots *rolls eyes*

Oh, before I forget, a HUGE thank you to everyone who checked out yesterday’s video Broken Nails, Split Ends & 30 Day Mascara: A Random Beauty Haul. It would seem quite of few of you are intrigued by the 30 day mascara. Fear not, as it’s top of my review list by popular demand – I shall endeavour to keep my brokens nail crossed it’s not as terrifying as I imagine! Talking of which, thanks also for the great tips and feedback on making my nails that little bit more resilient. Between hand & nail cream, coconut oil, cuticle treatments & Vitamins I’m pretty sure I’ll have the strongest nails in Ireland before the month is over 😀

However enough waffling from me as we welcome our second blogger of the week onto the virtual sofa, as the lovely Hannah from Hannah Jayne joins us for a quick chatter about behind the scenes of her blossoming beauty and lifestyle blog! Hannah’s online haven is certainly bright and cheery on the eyes from the moment you land on her home page, as she treats us all to a wealth of inspiring & creative features! There’s definitely something for everyone so do pop over and say a huge hello to this lovely gal, I’m pretty sure you’ll love reading her blog as much as the rest of us do…

Hannah Jayne

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Motivation, Tips, Organization, Fitness, Beauty.

.

What inspired you to start blogging?
I have always really enjoyed writing and giving tips and advice to friends. So I combined these two interests, and at the end of my formula… a blog appeared!

.

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

Well I will admit I spent ever too long chasing after the PERFECT blog name! I soon came to the realization that my blog is about me, my opinions, my tips, and my life. So, what better name than my own?

.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

Yes!!! Oh my! It is one of the worst feelings! If I have Blogger’s Block, I prefer to just leave it. I know that if I came up with a little idea that I am not 100% keen on during Blogger’s Block, then I will later regret my post! Instead, I will leave my desk, or wherever I am, do something I enjoy, and later on I will most likely come up with something. However, I will note that I tend to carry a note book around with my everywhere so that if a good idea occurs, I can write in my book and not forget it! Because of that, I quite often pre write a post which is handy when you don’t know what to write about!

.

What’s your favourite post to date?

Hmm… Well I really liked my “Perfect Breakfast Smoothie” post!!

.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

Hmm… A cute top with some jeans or denim shorts (or black shorts). But I also love wearing dresses! Casual, yet on fleek 24/7 😉

.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Not in order…

‘Blistex Lip Conditioner’ Lip Balm >> this is my saviour!!

‘Rimmel Scandle Eyes Mascara’

‘Rimmel Lasting Finish (25 hr) Liquid Foundation’

.

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

Watch childhood movie favourites (ie. The Wizard of Oz, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie as the princess and the Pauper). Meditate- however I find this hard to do sometimes. Or take a nice warm bath with candles lit, and oils burning. Depending on my mood, I will like to be by myself, or surround myself with family.

.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

A toasted sandwich with extra capsicum, lying in bed with a glass of lemonade, watching t.v! OR, I LOVE going out to dinner with the family!

.

What do you do to relax?

Read a book, lay in bed and talk to mum, listen to some calm songs, have a warm bath.

.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

Picking off my nail polish! It is so bad! You know how long it takes to apply a base coat, two layers of your chosen colour, and then a top coat and of course you then have to wait for every coat to dry! A day or two after, I would already be pulling the nail polish off. I don’t even know what I achieve from it?! I just do it! Does anybody else do this?!

.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

Being the sentimental person I am, I have so many! But one that it is quite important to me is when I did crafts with my brother at my grandparents’ farm. My dad didn’t usually come to the farm with us due to his work and the long hours it takes to get to my grandparents. So, after dinner, my brother and I would always make my dad a present- whether it be a card, a pen holder made out of a toilet roll, whatever.

.

What was your favourite school subject?

I definitely enjoy outdoor education as I have been able to experience such things that I never thought I would have been able to do. For example, I have been abseiling over sea cliffs. Big ones too! I don’t mind Italian and Human Biology either. It is such an amazing thing to learn another language! And human bio CAN BE very interesting- notice the capitals. And I suppose in year 8 & 10 I had a big passion for art!

.

What’s your dream job?

I don’t really have one. Last year I was really interested in being a psychologist/counsellor or an outdoor education teacher. But I don’t know any more. I would really enjoy being a personal trainer- but, I know the pay isn’t too good.

.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

No idea man…

.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Not in order…

1) Write & publish a book
2) Take a picture of lighting (However, I kid you not, I did this just the other day!!!)
3) Bungee Jumping
4) Travel to Italy
5) White Water Rafting

.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?
Can I say when I met Lady Gaga? Is that an achievement?

.

Who inspires you?

This is going to sound super cheesy, but honestly… my parents. They are the two most amazing people I know, and I love them to death. But I would also like to say my beautiful best friend Mikaela. She has been there for me right from year 8, and I just cannot express how much she has grown up and become such an incredible, strong, and talented young lady!

.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

dr-seuss

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

1) Write what you want to write! Don’t write whatever you think will give you the most views. Write from your heart. If you enjoy what you are writing, your readers will enjoy reading it.
2) Have fun! There are no limits when it comes to blogging! Be you! Have a laugh! Don’t stress!

Broken Nails, Split Ends & 30 Day Mascara! Random Beauty haul….

It feels like an age since I last topped up my shelves with a few little random lotions & potions, however over the past week or so I’ve been spotting a few bargains here and there that have caught my attention enough for me to part with my hard earned cash… along with repurchasing up a few beauty essentials that I’ve repeatedly fallen in love with.

I’ve opted for some interesting little notions that have been lining the shelves of my local drug store and discount store, it’s amazing some of the finds you pick up for such great prices when you really aren’t expecting it! In fact, pretty much all of my staple essentials, as well as newbies, were under £5  – just goes to show you really don’t have to break the bank to enjoy some great cosmetic treats gals!

Behind The Blog featuring Emilia from Irregular Collection…

Irregular Collection

Hey Beauty Buddies…

This past few mornings have been bliss. Waking up to sun rays streaming through the window, I finally feel like we’re beginning to shake off the dismal grey skies of winter, even if it is ever so slowly, the welcoming feel of a sunny morning (and stretch of a slightly brighter evening) just really helps to lift the mood! Heck, I even discovered a few cheery looking little Daffodils blooming in my front garden yesterday afternoon! Don’t you just love the feeling of sunnier seasons creeping in? Roll on brighter coloured clothing and pastel polishes is what I say 😉

Talking of cheery, I’m super excited to introduce y’all to this lovely young lady… as the gorgeous Emilia from Irregular Collection joins us on the virtual sofa today for a quick chatter about behind the scenes of her blossoming beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog. Her fresh faced approach to creating super stylish reviews, news and tips is incredibly refreshing. If you haven’t already popped over to check out her sassy little corner of the interweb then I suggest you take a trip over pronto as I’m pretty sure you’ll love it just as much as the rest of us do… she’s such an inspiration and one heck of a focused gal!

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Fabulous fashion and beauty musings.

.

What inspired you to start blogging?

I’ve always adored creative/casual writing, ever since being little – journalism sounds like heaven to me! But I suppose I was originally inspired by the many talented bloggers on my social media site; they had such amazing opportunities to influence the world and, ultimately, that’s my goal. Also, I’ve been an ELLE subscriber for years now, I LOVE a good magazine and I’ve always dreamt of getting involved with one – I guess blogs aren’t too different from magazines, so I decided to go for it!

.

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

Well, to begin with, Irregular Collection was a shared blog between myself and 3 friends whom all have very different passions and perspectives, I guess that answers that for those readers who have always wondered why IC has such a weird name! However, I decided to hold onto this name when these girls left the blog simply because I feel like it’s still relevant. Although my blog content is mainly fashion/beauty related, I’m not afraid to do a post on a different topic, such as mental illness, baking or even travel once in a while, so it’s still a pretty ‘irregular collection’ of posts.

.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

Yes, sometimes, I think to myself “Damn, I haven’t posted in a while; I probably should” and go to blog, but if there’s nothing that I’m really wanting to talk about, I simply don’t do it. Blogging has to be impulsive for me, I’m not a ‘planning’ type of girl. But for those moments when I feel like I’m neglecting the Irregular Collection readers (it’s like having a child almost!), I look to my notepad, which is where I collate blogging ideas when I think of them but don’t have time to write them.

.

What’s your favourite post to date?

This is tough as I love writing every single one, but it has to be my Highlighters: My Collection (https://irregularcollection.wordpress.com/2015/12/02/highlighters-my-collection/) post; partially because I love highlighting, but also because my boyfriend thought that I was blogging about actual highlighter pens!

.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

Sophisticated, simplistic and quality neutrals with a pop of pattern or colour.

.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

This is where I start to curl up into a ball and deliberate over my answer to this question for roughly two months…

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder

Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara in Noir

.

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

This sounds stupidly unrelaxing to begin with, but if I’m stressed, I find that exercise really helps. I’ll usually slip on some boxing gloves or go on a run. After this, I love a good bath with a Bomb Cosmetics Bath Brulée, Clarins Pure and Radiant Face Mask and my Jo Malone candle. Before bed, I highly recommend jasmine tea; it’s proven to have relaxing, weight-loss and even blemish-banishing properties.

.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

This one could vary so much depending on what mood I’m in! Sometimes I just want to be snuggled up watching Disney movies and eating Indian takeaway with my boyfriend, but sometimes I’m in the mood to party for hours with my friends…

.

What do you do to relax?

Blog, watch House or Friends, drink mocha and paint my nails.

.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

Biting my nails. I would love to have beautifully long nails like so many other girls so I could have them manicured, but I just cannot stop biting them. I grew them for a while last summer with the incentive of my mum paying for me to get gels, but once I got back to school, all of my efforts were ruined.

.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

For most people, I’m probably still classed as a child, but I have to say, I will never forget the feeling of skiing in Austria when I was 13. It’s given me the urge to ski for life – the adrenaline, sense of achievement and freedom was priceless.

.

What was your favourite school subject?

Seeing as I’m still in school this one’s pretty simple… Funnily enough my favourite subject is probably maths, although French is very close by. Neither of these, you’ll notice, are blogging-related in the slightest and this is because English GCSE is pretty much the polar opposite of blogging, in my opinion.

.

What’s your dream job?

I would love to work as a magazine editor or fashion/beauty journalist – it’s probably the job that I’d enjoy most, but for the moment I’m going with my head, not my heart and aspire to be a financial director/stock broker/economist, as I find maths and economics super interesting too.

.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ll only be 21, so hopefully, I will have graduated or be soon to graduate Cambridge University with an Economics or Mathematics degree (this is the absolute dream). In realistic terms, I see myself as a fashion/beauty loving city girl who is happy doing her own thing, whatever she is doing, with plenty of memories made and still to make. I’d love to see a more confident version of myself, oh and maybe a me with a 10 x bigger cosmetics collection!

.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

To spend time living in France and become naturally fluent in French

To blog London Fashion Week

Go skiing again!

To participate in a speech/presentation about mental illness

Experiment with my personal fashion, hair and beauty more

.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

I know some people may not see it as an achievement, but the thing I am most proud of is beating anxiety’s ass. No-one, most definitely not myself, expected me to suffer from a mental illness and it is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. I’d describe it as a long and constant roller-coaster of odd emotions and something I would never wish on my worst enemy. Mental illness is not often spoken about, hence it’s often misunderstood and this needs to change. There were times for me when my mental state was just as disabling as any physical illness, but I didn’t give up, I’ve come out the other side and that, for me, is in an astounding achievement.

.

Who inspires you?

My friends, Suki Waterhouse and the Internet. Alright so the internet isn’t really a ‘who’ but there really is nothing with more outreach that the Internet – I love searching new products and articles to feed my fashion & beauty addiction! As for Suki Waterhouse, I just think she’s beautiful and I love her ‘60s style. And, well, my friends… They inspire me because they’re all so talented in a variety of ways and we are able to support eachothers’ talents; I think we encourage each other to be our best.

.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

“If it’s meant to be, it will be”

It’s a widely popular quote, but my family have taught me to live by this rule ever since being little. It helps me see failures as less of a brick wall and more a change of direction.

.

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

If you’re worried that you’re not good enough, worried that people will judge you etc. Stuff it! This is for you, not them, and you will NOT regret this. Persevere and if you want opportunities, well then you have to go and get them! On the more practical side of things, I’d say, use WordPress not Blogspot, it’s harder to use but it’s easier to customise, think carefully about who your audience is and adjust your content accordingly and, finally, photographs are everything – get yourself a decent camera!
