Purchase info

Although this was sent to me for an honest review by the lovely team at Direct Cosmetics you can purchase it on their website for a mightily discounted price of £1.99 compared to the £7.99 RRP. Not bad eh girls?!

.

Packaging

Presented in one of the biggest bronzer compacts I’ve seen to date, it’s straight forward talking does exactly what it says on the lid. Okay so it’s not gonna win any awards for innovative design or stylishly good looks, however what it lacks in packaging presentation it surely makes up for elsewhere.

.

Pros

Being a HUUUUGE disc shaped case (virtually bigger than the entire palm of my hand) you’ve plently of room to swirl your favourite brush around so that the product really does caress every little bristle. Considering I’m virtually translucent many a bronzer can look utterly misplaced and harsh on my face, but not this one. It’s so completely buildable in such a natural tone… no orange streaks ladies, just a beautiful warm glow that literally does look like your skin has been ever so lightly smooched by the sun.

As you’s are well aware by now, I’m a sucker for scent… regardless what the product is a great smell will always make me skip to the tills. This bronzer tends to have a very delicate sweet scent to it – almost powdery in nature. One stroke of my Real Techniques blush brush and not only does it look ever-so-pretty, it smells like it too.

Weighing in at £7.99 RRP I’d honestly pay every single penny without a grudge. Not only is it an impressive amount of product but the formula, application & blend are equally fantastic. Don’t forget – you can buy it online via Direct Cosmetics for a mere £1.99! *Click Here*  to add it to your shopping cart… then all you have to do is wait eagerly on the post man arriving 😉

.

Cons

I’m genuinely struggling for cons here gals, however I will say it’s most likely not ideal for travelling… like I said it’s a pretty big compact so you are going to get a whole lotta usage out of it!

Another little niggle is the name… Sun SHIMMER. Considering the word shimmer is used in the descriptive packaging there’s actually no ‘shimmer’ of it at all, in fact it’s very much matte. In Karen’s world, the word shimmer concocts a whole range of glittery, light reflecting teeny-tiny particles; so if you’re looking for something that dresses you up like a bronzed disco ball I’d avoid investing. Otherwise it’s pretty much perfect 😉

.

Verdict

In my humble opinion actions speak louder than words & having worn this gorgeous bronzer for the past month here’s a few pics to show you the subtle but effective glow it blesses even the most difficult complexions with… no harsh lines, no bright orange racing stripes, just a natural but buildable sun kissed glow.

*Product Review: Clinique Chubby Stick…

DSC00208a

Happy Monday Chums…

I trust you’ve all had a fabulous weekend? It was a pretty exciting one in the Rees household as little lady Ems finally saved up enough pocket money to treat herself to a trampoline, which of course Steve and I spent *almost* an entire Saturday afternoon building… thankfully our marriage is still intact, even if I have sprouted at a least another dozen grey hairs in the process! *dramatic sigh*

However onto today’s post beauty buddies, and I have a rather exciting little review as I bring you my honest musings on the Clinique Chubby stick. As lip products are one of my fav makeup collection must-haves I’ve been itching to get my hands on a stick of this much talked about stuff for quite some time!

Wondering if it’s worth the hype? Then make yourself comfy & stick around to find out…

Clinique Chubby Stick in Voluptuous Violet 1.2g

.

Purchase info

This was sent to me for review by the lovely folks over at Direct Cosmetics (thanks guys) where it’s available for a lip smacking £3.99… that’s an £11 saving of the £14.00 RRP!

Pop over and check out their range of pocket savvy products 😉

Description

Chubby stick

“Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm is a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and provides immediate moisturisation. The unique pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for ease of use.”

Source: Clinique

Packaging

Presented in a chunky little tube, it’s perfect for the handbag, purse or just slipping into a pocket on the go. Like most lip crayon style products it’s a simple wind up/wind down motion. The sticks come in array of colours, all of which very prettily match their internal shades – and considering I’m in a rush most mornings this makes Clinique’s Chubby Stick rather handy to grab & go compared to rummaging through tubes of traditional lippy to check the colour content.

Pros

Where do I begin? Ladies I’m in love! I had a feeling this was going to be a winner before I smeared that first glossy coat of colour across my dehydrated lips. Having said that I’ve always been a fan of Clinique’s product range which have never failed to disappoint in the past.

Me clinique 2

The balm applies so easily without a trace of stickiness but with more of creamy texture as instantly my lips feel moisturised and pampered. The colour is wonderfully subtle, so for ladies who prefer slightly more sheer tones this is ideal, however the colour is lightly buildable for adding texture and tone.

Me clinique

For those that like to pack a little more pout, add a light skimming of lip liner underneath in a complimentary colour – it really does help to exaggerate the colour that little bit better!

.

Cons

As much as I adore the packaging, price & product one thing I will say is that the longevity of the balm isn’t overwhelmingly long lasting. Within a few hours (or) after eating/drinking I find myself having to consistently re-apply, so if you’re looking at something that’s gonna hang around all night this isn’t an ideal option. However if your looking for a subtle balm for everyday use then it’s an easy trait to forgive for such a nourishing lip treatment.

My only other bug bearer ladies was the taste. Unfortunately there’s no sweet or  tasty lingering flavour, but instead more of a bland taste that somehow reminds me of kids crayons… bizarre I know. Thankfully the taste subsides pretty quickly, however a little hint of something tempting for the taste-buds would’ve been the cherry on top Clinique!

.

Verdict

Overall I’m a HUGE fan of the Clinique Chubby Sticks. The range of colours are incredibly pretty, the product is super nourishing for dried & dehydrated lips, the shades are complimentary for all skin tones and it’s easy to tuck inside the handbag. Personally I think the price point is a reflection of Cliniques great reputation for making fantastic products that really do deliver what they claim. Would I re-purchase & recommend = absolutely!

If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed gals 😉

*Product Review: L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara…

L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

Hey Beauty Buddies….

Happy Monday as yet another week begins! Firstly I’d like to say a huuuuuuuge maahooosive ‘thank you’ to each and every one of you for the masses of kind comments, support, encouragement (and just general loveliness) for the launch of my first YouTube video I posted on Friday. Your support really overwhelmed me! The encouragement here on the WordPress community is incredible – without my blog buddies I wouldn’t have had the confidence to get in front of a camera and ramble for almost 11 minutes so THANK YOU. If you missed it and fancy a quick catch up on my YouTube shenanigans then just *click here* to be virtually whisked off for a recap.

So onto today’s post… I’ve decided to declare my reviews Trash or Treasure – sounds a tad harsh I know, but I thought it was a fun and brutally honest way of getting to grips with some of the latest products I’ll be testing for ya’ll to either rush out & buy OR potentially walk on by.

Today’s product is the L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara as kindly sent to me by the fabulous folks over at Direct Cosmetics. If you haven’t already checked out their online haven of heavily discounted big name brands then I’d suggest you have a peek asap – you could be saving yourself a mini fortune on a range of awesome beauty goodies.

L’oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

 .

Purchase info

This was sent to me for a review by the lovely team over at Direct Cosmetics (thanks guys) where it is available to buy for a mere £5.89 – that’s £5 off the RRP, not bad eh?!

.

Description

“L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara will give you lashes that will blow you away. Helps to lengthen, thicken and separate every single lash with a patented Flexi-Globe brush that coats the lashes from every angle.”

 .

Packaging

Presented in an eye catching red and black tube this neat little product most certainly isn’t hard to miss. Unlike some of the other mascaras I’ve used in the past the wand handle is long and slightly tapered which gives it great grip when getting to work with lengthening those lashes!

 .

Pros

Considering L’oreal’s excellent reputation for lining our vanity tables with tip-top products, my expectations where pretty high and I have to admit they weren’t disappointed. Not gonna lie, initially the little ball ended wand with it’s tiny rubber spikes looked a tad suspicious to begin with. In fact I had my doubts it was going to do anything it claimed as it is incredibly compact.

Thankfully though, from the first stroke of application the length and definition was clearly noticable, if you like your eyelashes fanned out and individually pampered then this is most definitely the mascara for you – it really does work a treat at separating and lengthening. Here’s a few piccies after only one coat, which in my humble opinion does the job perfectly…

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara 3

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

I feel this is a great mascara for everyday use, it almost slightly trains your natural lashes to resemble non over-dramatised individual falsies, which for me, is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

As for removal of the product it was an absolute breeze, I’ve tried removing the product with a variety of lotions and potions (micellar water, facial wash & eye makeup remover) and it breaks down easily on first wipe and doesn’t leave your lashes feeling brittle or agitated in any way.

 .

Cons

Personally it’s been pretty hard for me to find any major snags in this mascara, however I will say that as a drugstore brand I feel £10.89 is a little overpriced. However if you are thinking of investing I’d suggest you save yourself a fiver and treat yourself to a tube via Direct Cosmetics… at that price it really is worth it.

Another *potential* grumble could be the size of the wand applicator. As shown below (VERY heavily zoomed in I must add) it’s a teeny round headed little device which is indeed great for the smaller lashes however it can make the application time pretty lengthy in comparison to the regular full bristled applicators.

DSC00218

If you’re often in a rush when applying your daily dose of face-fashion then I’m pretty sure this could end up hindering rather that helping the process.

 .

Verdict

Overall I’m mightily impressed with the results of the mascara, not sure I’d part with the full RRP but I’d certainly invest £5.89. If you’re looking for lengthy, separated and fanned out lashes I’m pretty sure this isn’t something you’d end up batting your lids at ladies. Great product, great results!

Have you tried L’Oreals Telescopic Explosion? What’s your favourite everyday mascara?

As always, thanks so much for stopping by chums… do leave a quick ‘hello’ in the comments below, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Confetti & Curves YouTube Video Launch…

Happy Friday Blog Buddies

Well today’s post is most certainly a bit of a milestone for Confetti & Curves as I celebrate the mini launch of my very first YouTube video! *champagne corks a poppin’*

Yes ladies it took a whooooole lotta nerves and determination to finally pick up my camera and bite the virtual bullet. I have to say filming this was probably one of the most nerve wrecking things I’ve attempted this year… definitely a moment for a few extra sugars in the tea or indeed a glass of something slightly stronger *hic*

However, as the postman had just delivered an exciting little package full of makeup and beauty goodies from the awesome team over at Direct Cosmetics, I thought it was a great opportunity to take a much needed break from the laptop and have a chatter with you guys instead! Why the heck not? After all I did make a promise to myself earlier in the year that I’d take back my self-confidence and challenge myself to a few new exciting projects… remember the #TakeBackWhatsYours campaign post back in January? Well I’m determined to keep my word 😉

So I hope you enjoy hearing/seeing me in the flesh… if you have a YouTube channel of your own that you’d like me to check out then please do leave a link in the comments below! As for the rest of you lovely ladies be sure to say a quick hello… it’s always a treat hearing from y’all.

Anyway enjoy the video, apologies for any nonsensical ramblings (I’m still quivering from the experience!) and as always have a super weekend whatever you’re up to 🙂

Cheerio chums…
