The smell in the room is diiiiiivine as I’m currently marinaded in Treacle Moon raspberry body butter, with a vanilla wax melt on the go and a mug of sweet tea by my side; can you guess I’m excited for autumn with such an array of sweet smelling goodies?! 😉 Which reminds me, thank y’all so much for your awesome comments on yesterdays post ‘The Getting Ready For Fall Haul’ it would seem quite a few of my new treats have caught your cosmetic craving eyes, but fear not as follow-up news and reviews will be on their way pronto ladies!
Talking of news: I have the gorgeous & super talented Nanna from Bottled In Denmark on the virtual sofa today… I’m sure many of you are already familiar with her sassy corner of the internet but for those of you who aren’t then do get yourself over pronto, otherwise you’re missing out big time. She’s incredibly friendly and always enjoys a chatter so do pop by and say a huge hello!
Sitting comfy? Then let’s get ready to meet the girl Behind The Blog…
In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:
Beauty, life, everything in between
What inspired you to start blogging?
A friend of mine had a blog so she gave me the idea. I’d been getting in to nail art and I wanted a place to share it with people and I thought a blog would be a good medium because I was – and still am – a little self-conscious about showing people I know – I still don’t share my blog posts to my personal Facebook or Instagram very often.
Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?
Originally, my blog actually had a different name, but after a couple of months I kinda hated that name, so I had to think of a new one. I shamelessly stole the idea from an amateur band who played my city. They were called Bottled in England, and I liked the idea of my blog posts being little messages in bottles. And of course the messages were bottled in Denmark, where I am from, so that is where the name came from. A friend of mine pointed out that the name was actually perfect for me because I am so much into nail polish, which is also bottled – I hadn’t thought of that myself, but let’s just say I was that clever, okay? 😉
Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?
Yes, often actually. I usually just give it a few days and the inspiration comes back to me. Either that or I read other blogs or browse Pinterest for inspiration.
What’s your favourite post to date?
Although I have many nail art posts that I like, I think the one I like the best is actually the OOTD-post I did recently. I like how the pictures turned out and the look of the big pictures that dominate the post. It reminds me of the first-day-of-school pictures my father had me pose for every year and that makes me happy to think about. http://bottledindenmark.com/2015/06/06/ootd-mother-in-laws-50th-birthday/
Describe your everyday clothes style:
Layers upon layers. I always have at least 2 shirts on – a long black or white top underneath another top or shirt because they’re often too short. Then a cardigan and if I’m going outside, a jacket. I like to dress like that because I hate being too cold or too warm and layers allow you to put on or take off clothes as suits your inner temperature.
I usually pair that with jeans and sneakers.
What are your current top 3 beauty items?
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara.
Sally Hansen’s nail polish remover (the green one) – I doesn’t feel like it dries out my nails the way nail polish with acetone can. And it smells a lot better.
Rimmel London Lasting finish 1000 kisses lipstick in ‘Forever Walnut’ – my go-to lipstick
How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?
In front of the TV or with a book and some music. Sometimes just music and daydreaming.
Describe your ideal Saturday night:
At home, on the couch watching a great show or movie. Or a night in with a few close friends, drinking wine and having a good time.
What do you do to relax?
Kick back on the couch or bed.
Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?
I get impatient if (I think) I know where people are going with their sentence but are taking too long to get it out, so I finish the sentence for them – I don’t always get it right…
What’s your most cherished childhood memory?
I have so many small memories, but to say that one is more cherished than others is hard for me. Am I the only one who can’t always tell each individual childhood memory apart? If I had to tell you one I remember, I remember liking new years eve when I was a child – we always had the same people over for dinner each year and my friend and I would entertain them with a song or a speech and the night would always be a a lot of fun. I think my new year’s eves have gone downhill after I started going to parties; they were fun, but not AS much fun.
What was your favourite school subject?
English. It’s my second language, but sometimes is feels like my first language because it has always come very easy to me. I guess you often like the subjects you’re good at the best.
What’s your dream job?
Film editor – I’ve always found it interesting, but it’s hard to get into film school and I sort of opted for the easy solution instead and went to university.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In an office somewhere – maybe Britain – handling internal communication between international departments of a company.
What top 5 things are on your bucket list?
Move to Britain!
Visit the Maldives before they sink
Own every The Beatles LP (only four more to go!)
Learn to play more instruments
Get a job I love
Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends” – Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone).
This reminds me to stop trying to please everyone around me at the cost of my own happiness.
What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
Don’t think about how many people are following you but on creating the best kind of content for the people who ARE – if your content is good the followers will automatically come.
