Six Month Blogiversary *woo hoo*

Today is mini celebration here at Confetti & Curve HQ ladies, champagne corks are a’poppin as today is our 6 month Blogiversary! Yes indeedly, a whole 6 months from I hit ‘publish’ on my very 1st post… which you can take a trip back down memory lane by *clicking here*

Before I started this blogging expedition I had no idea what to expect. I was digitally venturing into a whole new genre of topics & features. My biggest apprehension was that I was entering into a community full of judgemental beauty experts that would cast a perfectly raised HD brow on my meagre offerings… how wrong I was, for instead I was warmly welcomed into a thriving online neighbourhood full of like minded make-up mavens, beauty buffs & lifestyle lovers. I had found my blogging niche & was having more fun than I could’ve imagined. So what’s been my highlights over the past six months?

Becoming a blog mama

Creating my own little online haven and watching it grow has been one of the most exciting projects I could’ve imagined. Having a vision of how I wanted my little corner of the interweb to look and seeing it flourish into life has been such a great experience & something I’m incredibly proud off.

Blog buddies

Networking with other bloggers regarding of how experienced (or inexperienced) they are has always been an integral part of blogging for me. From starting Confetti & Curves I made it my mission to interact with other like minded people as positively as I could. Through that I’ve met some of the nicest people from all over the globe, getting a peek into new cultures & creating great friendships with people I’ve never met but feel like I’ve known almost all of my life. Some of my most toughest days has been made a whole lot better by the encouraging & supportive words from you guys, and for that I’m super grateful.

 Awards Gallore

(Almost) every week I get a little notification pop up that I’ve been nominated for yet another blogging award and I can’t tell you how happy these make me, whether or not I’ve been nominated before! Not only are they often a fun and light hearted way of getting to know each other, they’re a great way to meet new bloggers I’ve not yet stumbled across before.

Behind The Blog

Back in November I launched (what was initially) a mini blog series called Behind The Blog. I was pretty convinced it would last a few weeks before fizzling into oblivion… five months later it’s going stronger than ever thanks to you guys. Most importantly it’s achieved it’s ultimate goal many times over – connecting new blog buddies. Yet none of it would be the success it is without the amazing bloggers who take the time to get involved. Getting to know you guys that little bit better has been bags of indescribable fun! We’re currently booked into June featuring two bloggers a week so if you want to get involved *click here* to find out more details, we’d love to have you feature!

New Finds

Urban Decay Naked Palettes, Real Techniques brush sets, Garnier Micellar Water, Miss Dior, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, Clinique Chubby Sticks… these are just a few of my favourite products I’ve uncovered from reading a virtual mountain of your awesome reviews, monthly favourites & empties posts. You guys may have emptied my bank account but you’ve filled my vanity table with some of the best lotions and potions I’ve had the pleasure of revelling in!

Great Opportunities

I’m not gonna lie ladies… every time an opportunity to collaborate with new & existing companies arise I get super excited at how flattered I am to have been approached but also getting the experience of working alongside some fantastic brands! Unfortunately though not all opportunities have been suitable or fitted the content of my blog,  however just being offered the chance to get involved is a huge compliment. Don’t forget if you want to add your name to my list of Sponsored Bloggers by potentially getting involved in upcoming opportunities *click here* to find out more info!

 Featuring in Wedding Ideas

Confetti & Curves started 2015 with an exciting bang… having an article feature in one of my fav wedding magazines was a huge achievement for me. If you wanna check it out for yourselves ladies *click here* to be digitally whisked off to the Wedding Ideas website. Be prepared though, if you’re as obsessed with wedding gossip as what I am you could be on there quite some time! Just don’t say I didn’t warn ya 😉

Giveaways Gallore

Not only did I win a gorgeous little box full of Benefit goodies from the lovely Melissa Claire Leslie but yesterday I was bestowed with the slightly sensational news  that I’d won a gorgeous Chanel lippy from Anne’s awesome blogiversary giveaway over at Doves & Roses!! I shall leave my squeals of excitement & frantic arm flailing vision to your imagination… what must the neighbours be thinking?!

Building Confidence

As many of you know I consider myself to be a gal with all the wrong curves in all the wrong places… so not being a fan of having my picture taken at the best of times, blogging and reviewing products has really nudged me out of my comfort zone. However the ongoing support and encouragement from my little army of blog buddies has done me wonders. You guys have really been a pivotal part of helping me overcome some of my own personal anxieties & self-confidence fears!

You Tube

This year I made a vow to take a (not just a step) but a huge leap out of my comfort zone by setting myself a challenge. As my blog continues to grow I think it’s important for my goals and aspirations to grow with it. Doing something new is always nerve wrecking but (for me) I don’t think there’s anything more terrifying than stepping out from behind a computer screen and putting myself on camera. However after I uploaded my 1st video the response was more than I could’ve ever wished for. So many of you left such kind messages of support & revelations that many of you also wanted to create a YouTube channel… a dream that is being suppressed by fear and lack of confidence. Without sounding like a walking cliche but I promise you, if I can do it – you can do it too! Life is way to short to sit on the bench and watch everyone else get involved in the games. Often our greatest critics is ourselves.

So there you have it, my blogging highlights. Thank you so much to each and every one of you who continue to support Confetti & Curves each & every day. For those of you who hit the follow button, take the time to comment, like or even just drop by. You’ve made it one of my most gratifying projects ever, not to mention the amazing friendships that continue to flourish & grow as each week passes.

Here to another six months of fun filled blogging adventures *clink*

100 Posts… Yippeeeee!!

Thank You

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Yesterday I got a rather exciting little notification from WordPress that I’d finally hit 100 Posts!

*happy dance/flailing of limbs*

When I first launched Confetti & Curves (just under 5 months ago) I literally had no idea what a merry little journey of fun & friendship would lie ahead. Confetti and Curves hasn’t just been a place where I can share my views, interests, thoughts, ideas & ramblings – it’s also been the catalyst to meeting such unforgettable friends & blog buddies the world over.

However it’s pretty apparent that all of this wouldn’t be possible (or at least anywhere near as much fun) without you guys tagging along with me. So with that in mind here’s a few little ‘Thank You’s’ I owe every single one of you in one way or another…

Thank you for welcoming me into such an amazing community of inspiring bloggers.

Thank you for reading my posts… it’s by far the biggest compliment!

Thank you for the ridiculously fun awards & tags – it’s so endearing to be thought off.

Thank you to everyone who’s participated in Behind The Blog – your support has been the foundation to it’s phenomenal success.

Thank you for taking the time to follow, like & comment on a daily basis. Your kindness and dedication is food for the soul.

Thank you for giving me a sense of belief and self confidence.

Thank you for unknowingly cheering me up when I’m having a rough day & for helping me celebrate the better ones!

Thank you for your friendship. Many of you I may not ever physically meet but I feel I’ve known you a lifetime.

Thank you for making Confetti & Curves one of my proudest projects to date.

Thank you for joining in my journey… and here’s to the next 100 Posts!

pink heart

Thank you. For everything.

5 Blogs I Love… with Kaily from Someday Sunny!

Five Blogs I Love

Hey Beauty Buddies…

I’m super excited today as I post my very first collab *Eeeep* with the lovely Kaily from Someday Sunny. Kaily and I were having a chatter a few weeks ago & somehow got round to gabbling about our fav bloggers, which led to the conclusion it would be a great collab opportunity! Never one for passing a fun opportunity, I jumped at the chance.

Now seeing as I adore sooo many of your beautiful blogs here on WordPress, I simply couldn’t narrow it down to 5 blog buddy favourites, so instead I’ve opted for 5 blogs that originally inspired me to create Confetti & Curves.

I’m sure many of you will be more than familiar with a few of these famous names & faces – if not, do check them out! I’m convinced you’ll be hooked as much as I am…

1) Louise – Sprinkle of Glitter

Sprinkle of Glitter

I originally stumbled across Louise’s super successful YouTube channel last year and was instantly hooked. If (like me) your a fan of Louise’s blog, you’ll most likely agree that it’s packed full of really inspiring posts on everything she loves in life… parenting, beauty, crafts, travelling, friends, and fabulous fashion for curvy girls!

2) Anna – Vivianna Does Makeup

Vivianna Does Makeup

What this gal doesn’t know about makeup simply isn’t worth knowing at all. Anna has works her magnificently manicured nails to the bone to create an online haven for all of us who adore our daily dose of beauty briefings and ultra useful tutorials. Check out her weekly Vlogs too, they’re utterly addictive!

3) BlogHer

BlogHer isn’t so much as a singular blog but rather a whole community of phenomenally useful blog articles. Written by women for women, there’s everything from style, work, life, relationships, beauty, health, family, food – trust me the list goes on… it’s an online sanctuary for ladies of all ages as there is truly something for everyone. However before you check it out I’d advise you to get comfy and clear your schedule for a few hours –  you could be there for quite some time! Yes, it’s that good 😉

4) A Thrifty Mrs

A Thrifty Mrs

Any blog that claims I can ‘have a blast without blowing the budget’ gets a virtual thumbs up from me! Thrifty Mrs is bunged with top cash-savvy tips that will teach even the most money conscious of blogger a thing or two – this girl has a serious knack of saving the strain on your purse strings by introducing you to top guidance on beauty purchases, home make-overs, crafts, recipes and much much more. The blog is beautifully presented, easy to navigate and filled with great advice & freebies – you’ll be thriftifying your ways in no time!

5) Marlena – Simply Marlena

Simplyh Marlena

For those of you who haven’t already heard of Marlena (goodness knows why) she’s the founder and creator of Makeup Geek, a brand that seems to have taken the US by storm. Apart from her awe inspiring success, Marlena’s personal blog Simply Marlena tends to focus more on her personal musings. The one thing I love about her is how open and honest she is about personal struggles and often just life in general. If anyone can encourage you it’s Marlena!

Finally a huge thanks to the gorgeous Kaily from Someday Sunny, it’s been a ridiculously fun first collab! Don’t forget to pop over and check out her top picks too… see you there! 🙂

2) I love sneezing – bit of an odd one folks but my record number of sneezes is 32 *hay-fever season* Thankfully I find it bizarrely satisfying… I know, weirdo.

3) I HATE driving at night – it doesn’t matter how many times I tell myself there’s no escaped murderer hiding in the back, my fear factor is through the roof!! *Eeeeek*

4) My biggest celebrity crush is Jon Corbett. I still insist Carrie Bradshaw had rocks in her head when she let Aidan Shaw slip through the net! *sob*

 What was Miss Bradshaw thinking?!

The Versatile Blogger Award *woo hoo*

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you’re all enjoying the new year so far and aren’t entirely partied out? It’s certainly been a fun one for me as I rang the bells in with my nearest and dearest (aka the clan) which I have to say was a huge amount of fun! I also discovered my new found skill for Charades… trying to convey the film ‘Taken’ was a rather giggle inducing challenge, needless to say us girls won with full points whilst the boys moaned and demanded a re-count *rolls eyes*

Anyways,  I’d never had guessed my first post of 2015 would be an award, and what a mighty one I’ve been bestowed with. A huuuuuge big thank you to the lovely:

The Glasgow Girl

 Natalie Charlotte 1992’s Blog,

Rachel Ellis Fashion & Beauty,

Everything Nadia

Styled By Lauren

Dannie @ Style.Foto.Cibo

Puffing Colours

Silky Resh

…for the nomination of The Versatile Blogger Award, much appreciated ladies!

So the rules for this award are –

  1. Show the award on your blog
  2. Thank the person who nominated you.
  3. Share 7 facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 15 blogs.
  5. Link your nominee’s blogs and let them know

My Seven *bizarre-ish* Facts:

1) Even though I use them daily I’ll always remain terrified of eyelash curlers. That first clamp is sweat inducing, especially as I have THEE most pathetic pain threshold imaginable… the thought of an eyelid nip is almost too much for my nervous system. *ouch*

2) My all time celebrity crush is John Corbett aka Aidan Shaw from SATC *swoon*

3) I detest red wine, celery & sushi – I just can’t.

4) I absolutely cannot sleep without folding my pillow otherwise I feel like I’m slowly suffocating… can you tell I’m a panicker yet?! *rolls eyes*

5) I once wore two completely different shoes to work. You can imagine the mortification when a friend pointed out my ‘fashion faux pas’ during our lunch break… of course I had to walk through a bustling town centre and face a ridiculously busy bus journey home before I could hibernate in my room with embarrassment.

6) I adore solitary grocery shopping.

7) My dream job would be to work as an embalmer. Yes, an embalmer.

So there you have it, my rather random facts – all that’s left to do is nominate my 15 beautiful bloggers… however firstly, my apologies if you’ve been nominated before and I should mention there’s absolutely no pressure to accept either 🙂

The Jolly Blogger Award

The Jolly Blogger Award

Hello lovelies…

I have a rather jolly post today seeing as I’ve been nominated for ‘The Jolly Blogger Award’ by the gorgeous Katie from Plus+ Beauty. If you haven’t checked her fab blog out before I suggest you pop over pronto and say a huge hello… she really is an awesome blogging buddy! So thank you kindly Katie – utterly chuffed to be nominated by you 🙂

Onto the rules: you must answer the 12 questions left by the person who nominated you, create 12 different questions of your own and nominate 10 other bloggers for the award. Simples!

Okay, let’s get started…

1) What is on your Christmas wish list?
Hmmm, to be honest I didn’t write a list this year…. in fact I never do! I absolutely love surprises so my hubby usually keeps a little mental note of things I like throughout the year. However between you & me I wouldn’t mind ripping open a set of Real Techniques make-up brushes, an Urban Decay Naked palette and maybe some perfume! 😉

2) What would be the perfect Christmas?
My perfect Christmas is very family orientated… actually, I think this year we have ‘perfect’ all sussed as there’s quite a lot of family coming over for a huge Christmas dinner, so lots of rumbling tummies to fill full of turkey, vino and chocolate fudge cake! Just watching everyone chatting, laughing & having a great time fills my heart full of gooey goodness. It’s the best present don’t you think?

3) What is your favorite Winter Makeup look?
Right now I’m loving soft neutral tones, earthy browns & shimmering metallic’s on the eyes finished with a sparkly glitter liner. For the cheeks I love a warm rich bronzer & pink blush on the apples of the cheeks. For my lips there’s very little that can rival a simple neutral gloss, I love it.

4) Do you believe in Santa?
Having a beautiful little 9 year old daughter – absolutely! 🙂 Kids really make Christmas so much fun & help keep the magic alive.

5) What is your favourite Christmas drink or food?
My favourite drink would have to be the red grape Shloer – I’m not a huge alcohol drinker so I can drink bottles of this yummy tipple without any fear of a nasty hangover. As for food, my yummy pork stuffing has to be the best topped off with my little sisters amazing Pavlova.

6) Will you be traveling for Christmas? If so where to?
Nope, not this year… both Steve and I love Christmas in our own home so we’re chuffed to be hosting this year rather than travelling *yipeee*

7) Would you prefer a snowy Christmas or no snow?
A white Christmas every time!

8) Do you like eggnog?
I’ve absolutely no idea… I don’t believe I’ve ever tried it!

9) What is your Favorite winter clothing?
Cosy jumpers… there’s nothing quite like snuggling up in a gorgeous chunky knit pull over, comfy jeans & fleecy slipper socks. Love it!

10) Do you leave Santa Cookies? If so who eats them?
Absolutely… don’t you?! However seeing as Steve has a sweet tooth they mysteriously disappear of the plate just before bedtime. Hmmm… gonna have to keep my eye on him this year!

11) What has been the best Christmas gift you ever received?
Ooooh that’s a toughie as there are quite a few… I’d probably say my Samsung tablet. It was something I’d wanted for a while and it was such a surprise when I opened it. It was one of those complete shock moments – I felt like a kid all over again!! I’m actually smiling at the excitement just writing this 😀

12) What is your favourite Christmas memory?
I think my fav Christmas memory is the overall excitement of Christmas when I was a child. My sister and I shared a bedroom so we used to sit up for hours chatting, giggling and wishing it was morning. We’d have tip-toed into mum & dads room at 6:30am, begging to get into the living room to see if Santa had been!

As there were six of us in total (my three siblings, mum & dad) the living room was just a mass of brightly coloured wrapped gifts, it was unbelievable. Later in the day my gran would have arrived for dinner and it was such a warm & fuzzy feeling sitting around the dining table with all my wonderful family… everyone so chatty & happy. Although my parents are now separated I’ll never forget the amazing memories they created for us all, I honestly don’t think I could thank them enough for the effort they both went to. I just hope my daughter looks back with the same happy memories of her childhood as what I had with my family!

My 10 nominees are:

Ladies & Lace

Lace & Pearls

Doves & Roses

Mil & Jules from South By NorthWest

The Glasgow Girl

A splash of Mimosa

Beauty By GiGi

Cute & Bubbly

My Questions Are:

Well actually ladies, I’m going to have to cheat a little bit *tut tut* and admit that I enjoyed answering the questions so much I thought you’d enjoy giving them a go too. I hope you don’t mind but I’d love to read all your responses!!

Enjoy chums 🙂

The Liebster Award…

Liebster Award

Thanks so much to the lovely Indie Mistress, The Beauty Haven Blissful Jar  BambiLeigh, Happy Lifeaholic and Petite & Pretty for the nomination – chuffed/delighted/over the moon ladies… if you aren’t already following their rather fabulous blogs then do pop over & say hi!

So here are the rules:

 1. Display the Liebster Award logo on your blog

2. Thank and link back to the person who has nominated you

3. List 11 facts about yourself

4. Answer the 11 questions they have posted

5. Create 11 questions to ask

6. Choose your own nominations

My 11 facts:

I love going to fun-fairs but am always too scared to go on the rides… such a coward!

I trained as a nail technician & opened my own nail bar when I was 19

I’m obsessed with candles & bought almost 140 of them two weeks ago in Ikea. I’m already half way through them *gasp*

My favourite food is Chinese, specifically vegetables & noodles. Yum.

I never own more than one bottle of perfume at a time – bizarre right?

My biggest travel dream is to tour America

I have a love/hate relationship with scary movies… love the intensity but hate the nerve wrecking aftermath.

I’ve had my lip pierced since I was 16

I reeeeeally dislike feet *blurrgh*

I’d love to visit New England in autumn – check it out, the pictures are breathtaking.

I still think Carrie made a huge mistake picking Mr Big over Aidan. Stupid, stupid move!!! *rolls eyes*

What do you like to blog about?

I blog about things that I love or inspire me, currently that ranges from new make-up or beauty products I’m trying out, fashion, crafts, exciting recent purchases I’ve stumbled upon, hints & tips, my life, my experiences, to a sprinkle of advice after working in the bridal industry for so long. If something has inspired me, you’ll most likely hear about it!

What’s the story behind your blog?

I actually started blogging just over a year ago, however seeing as I had made the transition to becoming a full time writer I had absolutely no experience of it whatsoever and so I decided that blogging about writing was as good a place to start as any – I was wrong. After a year of random waffles I declared enough was enough and started to find my niche and so Confetti and Curves was born *Yay*

Where are you from?

I was originally born in Belfast, however after a good few years of moving I’ve finally settled on the gorgeous East coast with my hubby & our little girl Emma. We’ve lived here for six years now and love it. We’re a twenty second walk from a huge sandy cove by the shore of the Irish sea, which I must admit is absolutely gorgeous any time of year! It’s a very laid back way of life, perfect for escaping from the city to write.

What’s your No.1 place to visit?

Ooooh this is a toughie but I’d probably say I’ve always had a longing to visit & tour America – it just seems such an exciting, diverse and amazing place to see.

Who inspires you?

I wouldn’t say I’m religious but my faith is a very important part of who I am and how I respond to situations as a person. So, I’d have to say God gave me my gifts and it’s His teachings that inspire & encourage me to try and use them as best I can.

What is the one goal you are working towards?

For quite some time now I’ve battled anxiety (not depression, just anxiety) and I’ve experienced how restrictive it can be. Some days are fine, in fact some weeks are amazing but it just takes that one panic attack to hit on a bad day and it can really knock me of course. My goal is to start gaining my confidence back and getting on with my life without panicking or worrying about things so much. Oh, also to get my 1st book published in 2015 *woo hoo*

What is your dream bag?

Honestly, I’m a pretty easy gal to please in this department. Designer labels aren’t priority – if I love the look of it then I’m pretty much sold.

What is your favourite book?

I read sooooo much so this is incredibly hard, however the first book I ever read alone was Matilda by Roald Dahl. I remember being in fits of giggles as a kid so I’d have to say it has a pretty special place in my heart.

Can you speak more than one language?

I’d love to say yes considering I took GCSE French but it’s been so long I’ve forgotten most of it unfortunately.

What is currently your favourite song?

So many, ermmm… something moody like Lana Del Ray, Born to Die – such a sultry track, love it!

If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be?

Again so many but I would probably say Tom Hanks. I’ve watched his movies ever since I was a little girl & there’s not one I don’t like. He’s an incredibly talented actor that seems so genuine & down to earth. Much respect Tom!

Now for my questions:

What’s the one beauty or makeup product you keep stocked up at all times?

What’s your nightly skin care routine?

Coffee or Tea?

What would be the title of your life story if made into a movie?

Who would play the lead character?

Describe your current fashion style?

What’s been your worst wardrobe disaster?

Who’s your favourite author & why?

Name three things that you have to have in your handbag?

What’s your favourite self-written blog post to date? (post link also)

If you could swap lives with someone for one week who would it be?

So there you have it, now for my nominees *drum roll please*

7 (very random *ahem*) Facts About Me:

1) I still own my first pair of shoes! Here’s the evidence ladies…

 First shoes

(They look like something from a museum!!!! *sobs*)

2) I used to live in a very haunted apartment. Although that was over a decade ago the poor landlord still has huge issues getting tenants to stay put and it unfortunately it still remains empty, very spooky indeed!

3) I’m obsessed with owls – such gorgeous creatures!

4) I can’t stand celery and absolutely hate the taste of red wine *blurgh*

5) When I left school I wanted to be an embalmer… much to my dad’s relief that didn’t happen & I went on to open a bridal shop instead!

6) I love walking through graveyards, they’re so peaceful… I really do sound a bit of a morbid little weirdo right now *sighs*

7) I’m terrified of flying, spiders and clowns.

My Nominees Are:

Two Little Owls

Redeem Cliche

The Pink Impact

(No pressure to accept ladies & apologies if you’ve already been nominated in the past!)
