See You Soon…

see-you-soon

The time has come. Just one more sleep…

Only one more night of shut eye before we set sail for England (Birkenhead to be exact) and road trip ourselves down to South Wales. Our bags are packed, we’re ready to go. The final wedding of 2016 draws oh-so-near as my gorgeous step-daughter Hayley prepares for her trip down the aisle. I can’t believe the little girl I first met back in the summer of 2004 is now all grown up and getting ready to marry the groom of her dreams! It’s her fairytale day – and my does she deserve it!!

Hayley (and Jessica – my eldest step-daughter) lost their mum, Sian, to breast cancer just a few years before I met their dad; my hubby Steve. It’s almost impossible for me to fathom just how raw it must feel when you’re a little girl, losing one of the most important and cherished people in your life. But they have coped astoundingly well, in fact, they’re two of the bravest girls I know. They’re also two of the most accepting and beautifully natured in their own extra special ways, and I’m beyond blessed to have been so warmly welcomed into the family all those years ago.

Of course, the little thread that bound us even closer together was the arrival of my daughter Emma – their little sis. Em’s hasn’t slept a wink these past few nights with excitement for the trip… and the all important task of being one of her big sister’s bridesmaids! Seeing my three girls together again will be incredible. I’m not even going to speculate the sheer amount of emotional selfies I’ll return home with ❤

So to keep today’s post short & sweet, it’s just to say I’ll be taking this week to spend time with my girls, catch up with family I haven’t seen in years, help with wedding planning and of course celebrate with the occasional strawberry daiquiri… you should all know by how vulnerable my weakness for vibrant coloured cocktails is!

Wishing you all a fabulous week ahead, whatever you’re up to – I’ll be back early next week to resume normal blogging service!

  1. I hope you an everyone else at the wedding – especially the bride and groom – have a good time.

I didn’t know you had two step-daughters. I’m sorry to hear they lost their mum. It’s horrible to lose a parent, especially at such a young age. But it seems that you’re the most amazing step-mum in the world. ♥

    I’m a step-mum to 2 girls too – one’s 24, the other one’s 17. They live with their mum but we’re on good terms.

    • Awwh thank you so much huni, what a fantastic comment to read!!! I’m so sorry I haven’t replied to this sooner – my break lasted a little longer than I anticipated! However it’s wonderful to be back as I missed you all so much!!! Amazing how you miss people you’ve never met right? lol Definitely an online family going on here!
That’s so lovely you’re on good terms with your girls too – I always think that step-daughters are like ready made sisters lol Well that’s the kind of relationship I have with mine and it works well that way! A fine balance of respecting their mum but ensuring that they feel cared for too 🙂 Thank you for such lovely words, much appreciated! Hope you are doing well huni *huge hugs* XXXX

      • I’m so glad to hear that Karen! You deserved a good long break! ❤ I’m doing good! I was feeling a bit under the weather this past weekend from some side effects of a newer med I’m taking, but today I feel a lot better! Going to get working on my next blog post here soon! 😊 xxxxx

      • Awwh Katie 😦 Hope you’re okay now and that the side effect are well and truly subsiding! Always tricky to know how your body is going to respond to these things and it’s just about playing it by ear (as they say) Good for you working on your next post – always look forward to what you’re posting next chum ❤ XXXXX

      • Awe don’t worry! I’m guilty of the same thing lol. I just got busy getting ready for Christmas and Brooke is visiting here in Michigan. Now I’m just having some down time and taking it easy before I dive back in. We have to pace ourselves. We can’t always read every single post from everyone. It’s not possible! Lol. I hope you’re doing well and are having a great start to the New Year!! ❤ xxxxx

      • I can’t believe she’s back home already – is it just me or is it going far too fast?! Hope you two enjoyed having a great catch up – I’m sure you had lots to chatter about as well as the all important chummy hugs! I’m such an emotional person though that I’d be a bag of tears with the hello’s and goodbyes lol Doing grand here huni though my laptop seems to be struggling – always something round these parts that’s not well lol Time for an upgrade Katie 😉 hehe Hope your health is as well as it can be chum *hugs* XXXX

      • Well she is still in Michigan. I think she is going back to Utah this weekend. She has been sick though. 😦 I’m hoping I will see her tomorrow for dinner if she feels up to it. It seems like her and I always just pick up where we left off lol. I feel like I never get to see her enough whenever she visits lol. I live just over an hour away from our hometown where she is staying. It’s not too bad of a drive down though. I’m used to driving long distances to go places. That’s what happens when you grow up in a small town lol.
I’m sorry to hear about your laptop 😦 If you weren’t so far away, Ron could fix it. Though he just ordered me a new laptop today, I have one to use, but the new one will be purple lol. It’s not like we don’t have enough laptops/computers laying around here lol.
I’m doing pretty good lately actually. I’ve been having more good days, but I’ve been really busy. I’ve neglected my blog for a bit. I have a post planned to get up this week though, finally lol. I hope you’re health is good too. *hugs* XXXX

      • Oooh you are soooo lucky getting a new laptop (and having Ron to sort any issues for you) honestly techy issues are the WORST for my patience Katie as I just end up contemplating which window to throw the damn thing out off lol Hope you and Brooke managed to get that catch up 🙂 XXXXX

      • I just got the new laptop the other day, and Ron picked out a great one for me. It’s used, but the person only used it like 2 times lol. Nothing wrong with it at all, and it’s purple 💜 I guess the person wanted to get a bigger laptop, but this one is a great size for me and it’s very lightweight. 😊XXXXX
