My Top 5 Favourite Nude Lipsticks…

My Favourite Nude Lipsticks

Regardless of all the fabulous colours currently cooped up my lippy collection, it’s a given fact that I always end up reverting (at some stage) back to bare basics – aka – my hoard of simple blush tones that seem to compliment pretty much every shadow & blush colour I possess. They’re just so darn versatile! Great for daytime work-wear or a classy finishing touch to an evening look coupled with dramatic smokey eyes. In fact it’s pretty safe to say that *almost* every make-up maven has their own personal soft spot for some shade of earthy beige colour. It’s a staple, right? Needless to say I’ve got a few of my own that I pretty much reach for on a daily basis, so if you fancy finding out a bit more about my favourite nudes *ooo err* then get yourself comfy & let’s get started…

Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour in Beige For Good

Maybelline Super Stay Beige For Good

This is undoubtedly the most ‘beige’ toned nude lippy I have in my collection, and although these shades often make me look more ‘corpse like’ than any other colour, this one (for some unbeknown reason) just seems to work. I’ll admit it’s a little dry but considering it claims to be a 14 hour lippy I expected it to be a tad more matte than most of the formulas I normally wear. However, it’s one of the few shades that actually hold it’s colour when I apply a layer of balm on top = hydrated lips & long lasting colour = win win!

Okay so it hasn’t reached anywhere near 14 hours for me (yet) in fact the longest I’ve gotten is about 4, though considering the amount of gabbling and tea drinking I do I’m not entirely surprised. All in all, one of my most frequently used lipsticks that really compliments a lot of the blush pinks, coppers and rose gold shadows I wear.

Ted Baker in 2190

Ted Baker Lipstick

I’m gonna contradict myself on this one but bear with me… considering just how utterly peachy this is it’s an absolutely no no for my skin tone. I’ve tried it with countless colour variations of shadows & blushes yet nothing distracts from the fact I look like my lips have disappeared without trace, HOWEVER, this is such a great colour for toning down some of my deep plum shades to make them a little less intimidating for me to wear during the daytime. It may not be my favourite colours but it makes for one heck of an awesome base.  Unfortunately, this was part of a limited edition gift set from Ted Baker and can’t be purchased individually however keep a close eye out for this little box of goodies making a comeback as it’s incredibly beautiful. If you fancy taking a closer peek at the gift box this lippy arrived in then *Click Here* to check out my previous Ted Baker Brilliance of Beauty post!

Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Fig Leaf

Natural Collection Fig Leaf

Possibly one of the most underrated drug store brands in my opinion. Still sceptical? Well check out the reviews straight from the Boots website. Not only is it super affordable at £1.99 the ‘Moisture Shine’ range is such a beautiful formula to wear, particularly if you suffer from dry or sensitive lips. Okay, so the packaging isn’t exactly mind blowing but it’s simple, pretty and absolutely perfect for those wanting to build up their makeup collection with a range of great earthy staples!

Mac Satin in Brave

MAC Brave

Having had this recommended to me a number of times, I finally caved in to see what all the hype was about & needless to say I love it. I find Mac satin super long lasting and although this shade is a little more on the pink side of nudes it’s a fabulous starting point for those eager to give MAC lippies a test drive. The formula can feel a little drying so be sure to coat your lips with a smidgeon of balm 30 mins before applying to help it from feeling so dry. Longevity wise it knocks the socks of some of my other colours but considering it’s £15 a tube I’d expect nothing less than brilliant.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in You’re A Star

Makeup Revolution You're A Star

This is the brand that never fails to amaze me for value for money, and if truth be told this makes Mac questionably overrated (in my opinion) simply because of the price point, formula and staying power. In fact pretty much all their make-up range has made me consider why I need to spend unnecessarily on high end when I can buy the same quality product for a fraction of the price. It’s also worth while mentioning that according to online sources the Makeup Revolution brand is cruelty-free and Vegan friendly. What more could you ask for? As for the colour of You’re A Star it’s a beautiful soft pinky nude tone that is super easy to wear and great for any skin tone. How pretty is the rose gold and glossy black packaging?! *swoon*

      • MUR is just a little too addictive. I am very happy they don’t offer free shipping to the EU, as that helps me contain myself into larger occasional hauls.

      • Oh gosh wouldn’t it be a terrible lure come pay day! I have to restrain myself from going onto the site, in fact if I did tonight I’d probably find about 17 items pre-saved into my basket *sigh* Totally addictive, but I love the fact it’s so affordable for such great quality… and cruelty free too, unlike MAC. Has really made me refrain from alot of higher end stuff, though I still love the occasionally pricey splurge chum 😉 hehe XXX

  1. I’m a huge nude lipstick fan, I think MAC Brave is an essential in any beauty bloggers collection! I think you would like the shade from MAC called Cosmo, it’s a little bit more pinky but looks lovely on fair skin (without being too bright)

    • Hey lovely lady!! Yes, I totally agree MAC Braveis such a staple, such a beautiful tone & easy to wear with the hint of pink in it, just makes it so much more complimentary for pale skin I reckon! Oooh must check out that cosmo shade, it sounds like my kinda thing – especially with the pink in it! No doubt an order will be placed soon enough lol Lovely to chat with you huni, hope you’re keeping well & thanks so much for stopping by 🙂 XXXX

  2. I’ve been on the hunt for a good nude lippy but I have dark skin and dark lips…can you recommend any shades for us? I look like a corpse if I use a traditional nude and the Claudia winkleman look is definitely NOT what I’m after!

    • Funny I was chatting to a girl in the MAC store ages ago about this and she always felt that Velvet Teddy was better suited to darker skin tones. Maybe something along those lines?! Though to be honest I’m pretty much translucent so I’m harbouring a guess huni lol Oh gee the Claudia Winkleman look is indeed a little baffling… that’s what I look like when I wear the Ted Baker lippy above BUT it’s the ideal base 😀 XXXX

  3. You can’t go wrong with a nude lip! It’s just such a quick, easy way to make yourself look pulled-together without having to worry about it being extremely neat.
That Ted Baker lipstick reminds me a bit of Chanel Rouge Coco in Catherine.
My current favourite nude lipstick has to be Rimmel lasting finish by Kate in 45. It’s just so perfect and affordable. It hasn’t left my bag since I bought it.
    Lovely post, Karen! 🙂 xx

It is beeeeautiful ❤ Will definitely be checking that out next time I'm in Boots *swoon* What a fabulous suggestion wee chum, always full of inspiration 🙂 Ps: Think you might like Rimmel Asia, it's a bit darker but it's lovely too!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

      • I am sure you will love it! What makes it so perfect is that it isn’t too brown and it isn’t too pink; it’s just the best of both.
I think it will look beautiful on you too. The formula is amazing!
I will definitely check out Rimmel Asia. 😃 Thank you for the suggestion! Sending giant hugs all the way from my little South African corner of the world. 💜💜xxxxxxxxxxxxx

      • Awwh you’re welcome huni, just know it would look fabulous on you!! And thank you for the lovely compliments Dini, you’re a wee treasure! Sending those huge hugs right back at ya from sunny Ireland hehe ❤ XXXXX

      • I did actually look it up and it is a beautiful colour! You can’t go wrong with a pretty nude that just has a hint of colour. Colours like that have a way of just bringing a look together. Rimmel lipsticks in general are great!
I am so spoiled with these hugs. 😀 Do you think I could be slightly greedy and ask for some of that sunshine to come with the hugs? 😉 xxxxx

      • Well it’s a gorgeous blue sky day, lots of sun shine and not a breeze so I’ll try to send a few rays your way hehe! I thought you’d be basking in the sun over there Nadine.. oh wait, it’s your winter isn’t it?! xx

        Liked by 1 person

      • It is winter, unfortunately. 😂 It hasn’t really dropped below 19° during the day yet but, since we are spoiled with daytime temperatures which seldom get lower than 16° in winter, we think it’s freezing. Haha xxx

        Liked by 1 person

      • Our summers don’t get much hotter than 35° but I think the temperature is mostly around 28° in summer. I like the heat though so I honestly can’t complain. 😂 They have predicted 25° for tomorrow and it’s winter so I am super thrilled. Cape Town weather is great. 😊 We do tend to have all four seasons in one day from time to time though. 😂
Don’t the people half freeze there when they are in their bikinis in that weather? Anything below 20° here and everyone is in boots, scarves ans beanies. Haha xxxxxx

      • Ahhh that would KILL me Dini, I have no idea how on earth you stick that! It was 26 here today and I could barely breath! I I’m not sure I’d do too well in the intense heat unless I lived under and air-con canopy lol
Haaaa I’m afraid not, we’re so used with our winters being very chilly (can be normal to drop to -1 lol) so anything above 17 is considered a mini heatwave huni lol lol XXXXX

        Liked by 1 person

      • Hahaha an aircon canopy would be wonderful! Luckily for us it’s very common here for middle-class homes to have swimming pools so we have our methods of cooling off in the summer heat. 😂 I personally love the heat though. I kind of want to move somewhere where it’s hot right through the year. Well, hot by my standards, at least. 😁
It’s so interesting how different parts of the world perceive heat so differently like there where anything above 17° is considered warm and here it’s only considered warm when the temperatures are above 25° while anything below 20° here is considered to be cold. I suppose it makes sense since we still have days where the temperatures are in the low 20’s during winter. It’s quite wonderful, really. 😊
I hope you are enjoying the sunshine there, Karen! Sending tons of hugs your way. ♥♥♥

      • Oh gee really? hehe Maybe the outback in Australia would work wonders for you, I’m pretty sure it stays roasting there most of the year lol
It really is interesting Dini, I guess it boils down to what you’re used to at the end of the day! Sounds like you certainly have lovely weather most of the year… I think you’d need to bring your thermals to Ireland, even in the summertime huni lol lol xxx

        Liked by 1 person

      • Or some island in the Caribbean. 😀 haha That would be great!
It is definitely about what we are used to. I probably would have to dress for winter even in Ireland’s summers but I would love to visit it one day. It looks so beautiful. 🙂 xxxx

  4. I was just looking through my nudes recently…they are all definitely in the pink end of the nude spectrum. Two of my favs are Anna & Vanessa NARS Audacious lippies. Awesome nudes and super long-lasting formula! I love the packaging on the Ted Baker one…I am a sucker for gorgeous packaging! 😊❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • I really must try NARS, I’ve heard endless great reviews about the formula and staying power so I keep feeling I’m missing out! Might have a wee spree come my birthday 😉 hehe Shall be sure to keep a note of those colours as I love the pinky nudes ❤ Isn't the Ted Baker packaging fab?! Looks very similar to Tom Ford though lol How they haven't expanded a line of cosmetics is beyond me! xxxx
