A New Arrival…

A New Arrival

On yesterday’s catch up post I mentioned I had a little surprise to share with you all pending a few special little photographs of our new arrival…

Maine Coon Kitten 1

Gals, I’d love to introduce you to little Borris, our 9 week old baby Maine Coone kitten. Cuteness overload *swoooon* Ohhh how this past weekend has been such a treat in so many ways… there’s been cooing, giggling and lots of cuddles as we welcomed him into his new forever home.

Maine Coon Kitten 3

Now as many of you know, I already have one gorgeous big boy at home, Gomez, who’s a rather handsome Tuxedo cat. After loosing his playmate Hector last year, Gomez went into a bit of a kitty depression for a while and mulled around looking very sorry for himself.

Gomez Kitten Gomez and Emma

(Gomez as a kitten & all grown up with his favourite human, Emma)

Considering that he has a few issues of his own to contend with we knew that introducing another adult kitty just wouldn’t work, and would stress him out even more than he already has been, so instead we decided to hunt for the perfect little companion that would be fun company for him and the purrrfect little addition for us too. *Apologies for the dreadful cat pun*

Maine Coon Kitten 5 Maine Coon Kitten 2

Little Boris is a Maine Coone which is one of the biggest domestic cat breeds. At 9 weeks old he’s already pretty sturdy for such a young’un. His mama had a gorgeous litter of 3, unfortunately though the little runt of the litter didn’t make it and died a few weeks ago. His little sister is still with mum as she’s very timid and dependant on her just yet but Boris is ready to take on the world – one paw at a time!

Maine Coon Kitten 4 Maine Coon Kitten 9

This little ball of fluff has kept us all entertained this weekend as he’s been climbing up our legs, the sofa, chairs and even attempting to scale the stairs at one stage – of course there was many miaows of protest when Emma disturbed him from his climb for a few cuddles.

Maine Coon Kitten 6

Needless to say he’s fitted in perfectly, so much better than we could have imagined. As predicted he’s a bit confused with Toby (our beagle) who’s beyond eager to make friends, however little Boris isn’t showing him the same love, but moreso returning the gestures with teeny hisses and a few paw swipes. Fiesty huh?

Maine Coon Kitten 10

All in all the house is pretty much loved up right now. Gomez is a little wary of his new play pal but over time I’m sure they’ll become the best of friends. Well, paws crossed on that one!

I know not everyone is as mad about cats as I am but he’s just soooo cute, it’s hard not to fall for him 😀 Oh little Boris has been following Gomez around and mimicing what he does, very cute and funny to watch! lol The two seem to be starting to bond already which is lovely 😀 Now just to deal with those kitten play scratches lol Hope you’re having a fabulous week, lovely to get a chatter with you as always *hugs* XXXXXX

      • I’m nuts about cats too. And I don’t even mind the play scratches – it’s all part of the experience. 🙂

If I hadn’t got my husband, I’d be a crazy cat lady. 😀 I often look after my friends’ cats – one of my friends has three super playful cats, my other friend has an older cat who likes frequent cuddles.

It’s great that Boris is learning from Gomez and that Gomez accepts his new little brother. They’re amazing!

Hope you have a fabulous week too, hun. xoxo

      • I’m the same too – even the scratches are little love wounds lol lol Like you say, all part of the experience! 😀
Wow, sounds like you really would have a house full of cats if you could! I just love them, they really are their own bosses, so full of personality 🙂 I think Boris is going to end up the total opposite from Gomez, completely playful! Nice to see their own little personalities flourish ❤ Thank you sweetie *hugs* XXX

  3. Awww Borris! What a perfect name. And Maine Coons are like the dog of the cat world. My sister in law had one. Followed her around like a dog and could fetch a crumpled up piece of paper. 😛 Enjoy the little furball!

    • Gosh Stashy I rolled a little ball of paper up tonight and he had HOURS of fun playing with it… has no interest in the expensive store bought toys but adores boxes and household bits and pieces! lol Great little kitty and so full of personality! Glad you like his name – your sisters one sounds adorable!!! Very smart indeed! 😀 XXXXXX

      • Well, he’s making me want to go get a kitten! Funny though, I realised when reading this post that I don’t know how to do that – I’ve had at least 10 cats over the years but I don’t know where to get a kitten. I just wait for cats to show up at my house and tempt them with food xD

      • lol lol This makes me giggle Em!! We ended up with 4 cats at one stage & I’ll never forget the night a lady landed at my door with one asking if we were a sanctuary *rolls eyes* I guess when you’re a cat love they truly do come to you lol Sadly though rescue centres and the likes of Gumtree is full of little babies needing a forever home – wish I could take them all ❤ XXXXX

      • Please tell me you said you were a sanctuary xD Every now and again me and my sister look at the local rescue centre thinking we should get another cat but we’ve yet to convince my mom that she needs another cat – plus, most of the cats on the site don’t get along with dogs and while he’s still here he rules the house!

      • I think the look of shock on my face was her answer there and then Emma lol lol Hmm, sounds like your wee dog is the alpha male so maybe you’re just right holding fire on the kitty just now… saves the headache of furry arguments!! lol Is there alot of cats around your way huni? XX

      • A lot of cats…well, at the moment there are four regulars (two of them are a sleep inside my house right now) and at least 2 others I’ve spotted on occasion. Is that a lot of cats? I’m not sure what’s normal anymore! 😀
Alpha male…far from it! xD He’s a bit of a push over, always has been. He’s too friendly to be in charge, really it’s his blindness and diabetes and arthritis that keep him in charge of the house!
In fact, for years he was scared of cats – which I understand completely as our house cat Ollie (who died last year) was a complete bitch sometimes! She never did anything to him but she scared away a few of his friends…big labrador and husky friends. One of the funniest things you will ever see is a husky bounding towards you only to turn about mid stride and run the other way because he sees a small house cat sitting near you!

    • Awwh Thays you have a beagle too?! Little boy or girl? How cute a year old!! Our Toby is coming 5 so he’s knocking on a few years now – very adorable still! They’re such loving dogs 🙂 Think Boris will have another great wee play mate over time hehe XXXX

    • I’m hopeful he will, our big old German Shepherd, Sasha, would have loved him Kaily – the beagle however is a little more curious and eager to make friends! It’s adorable but heart breaking when he gets rejected *sob* lol Hope you’re keeping well lovely XXXXX
