Makeup Revolution: Mermaids Forever Eyeshadow Palette…

Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever Palette

Bright, bold & beautiful is how I would describe the Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever Eyeshadow Palette at first glance. Boasting 32 gloriously vibrant colours to dress your lids in, there’s literally a shade selection for almost every occasion – and at £8, the price tag is most certainly pocket friendly.

Rummaging through my palette drawers I seem to be building quite a nifty little collection from Makeup Revolution. But it’s not just me that’s falling head over heels for their range of affordable cosmetics, makeup lovers all over the globe are raving about the outstanding pigmentation and long lasting wear of a majority of their lines. But does this colourful Mermaid really match the wow factor of her tempting price tag? Let’s take a closer peek…

MUR Mermaids Palette

So here they are, all 32 colours – ranging from soft neutrals, punchy peaches, vibrant pinks, deep blues, rich browns and beyond. There’s certainly no lack of thought gone into the gorgeous range of shades, and if you’re having a tricky time of selecting tones then you’ll notice that diagonally the colours are set in complimentary blocks of 4 to keep you on the right path to successfully matching colours, ensuring you get the perfect blend! Certainly a great start for beginners in lid fashion 😉

As for the packaging, it’s simple & chic. Although I’d love to see the palettes personalised in outer case styling a little more, perhaps one of the reasons they’re so affordable is Makeup Revolution keeping everything low keyed and simple to justify the price point. However the bright metallic blue storage box is certainly an eye-catcher… but if truth be told, I’d much rather have a great internal product with minimal packaging than a disappointing product that looks like it’s been designed by the hands of Picasso.

Inside the palette the shadow pods are simple round pans. Granted they’re not overly big, so fluffly brushes beware! However for those that adore plenty of reflection room the mirror is huge (the entire size of the outer case) which makes it a great travel companion as you’ve every shade you’d need along with one giant mirror to play about with all the colours. Jolly hols = sorted!

As for pigmentation… well, I must admit a few of the lighter colours (particularly in the first diagonal row) will need a little more work to really pack a punch, however the brighter colours are beautifully vibrant and blend incredibly well onto the skin. When I’m trying shadows for the first time I usually just pop them on a naked lid (no primer, foundation or base layer underneath) so I can really test the staying power on the skin. I applied my shadows at 11am and low and behold, they were still sitting just as pretty come 8 pm later that evening. A pretty impressive time frame for no base whatsoever, which of course can only get better with a great primer to pull out the intensity of the colour and help settle the shadows to prevent fallout or fading… which, I like I said, hasn’t been the case here. No primer and very happy lids many hours later *Yippeee*

All in all the Mermaids Forver Palette is certainly a winner in my eyes! Sure some of the lighter colours require a little bit more work (though I find that’s even the case in some of my high end palettes which are x5 more expensive) however a slightly dampened shadow brush really helps to restore the colour pigmentation and keeps the shadows consistency from risk at crumbling too.

The Final Look…

What d’ya think gals? Today, I opted for a gorgeous mix of bright pinks – and keeping to the diagonal pink line, with just a touch of seashell in the inner corner, I thought the overall look was vivid and perfectly matched. Most definitely a palette I’ll be reaching for regularly and recommending to friends who love to hoard a selection of fabulous colours for special occasions or simple everyday use!

    • AMANDA!!!!!! I always end up smiling like a loon when I see your wee comment pop up!!! How are you chum? Is everything okay with you? I popped over to your blog a few times but thought you might be taking a wee break, and rightly so as it’s so blooming hard getting the engines revved if you’re feeling a tad demotivated. Been there, done it wore the tee shirt (many times) lol However you’re a writer at heart so I KNOW you’ll be back to it when you’re ready – and of course we’ll all be right here waiting for ya 🙂
Had a lovely Easter, very quiet, though lots of pain with mystery ailments. Had to take a wee extra day off work, still having bloods done etc. Sure there’s always something eh *rolls eyes* Is it just me, or is it slightly glorious to have an empty house when the kids go back?! PEACE AND QUIET lol Three kids & two weeks??! Ooooh I feel for you!!! But you got through it unscathed so you’re doing something right 😉 lol lol Sending the biggest of hugs to you my wee blogging amigo 😀 Great to get a chatter with you – thank you sooo much for stopping by huni!!! • Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. I’m terrible!!! There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day *deep sigh*

Is it strange that when I read your comments they are in your lovely Irish accent? Anyway, I always love reading your replies. They make me smile.

I did indeed make it through the holidays…with my sanity still intact. That deserve a badge, doesn’t it? Hehe. I love them really. And yes… My house felt HUGE as soon as they left for school. I got up and did a little dance..

Anyway, my eyelids are getting heavy (it’s only quarter to 10 …the shame!) must be all this excitement!

Oh, and I’m back now (blogging) You’ll be happy to know. Only took me three months! Gah! What’s wrong with me?

Sending big hugs to you, my blogging pal! Xxx

    • Oh Lexi it’s gorgeous!!! I think you’d love it huni, just like you I wasn’t so keen on all the colourful shades either (I’m more of a earthy/nudes gal) but I’m so glad I got it as it’s truly gorgeous! I think looking at all the bright colours is initially a bit overwhelming, but once they’re on and blended = WOW. A must have, don’t think you’d in any way be disappointed huni 😉 thanks so much for the lovely comment and for stopping by! Hope you’re keeping well and having a fab week *hugs* Xxxx

      • I’ll take a trip to Superdrug on Friday where I can look at it properly I think! And Friday is also payday so if I like it I may have to buy it ;-). Yeah at first glance it’s like wow at the broad spectrum of colour, but looking closer you can see what colours would go well together to create some lovely looks! No problem, I hope you are too, lovely!

      • Oooh don’t ya just LOVE pay day Lexi!!! hehe Yep, that’s what I thought too – so much colour *arrrrhg* but if you let your eyes follow the colours in columns it’s actually not so scary and they’re so blendable that it works beautifully 🙂 You’ll love it ❤ XXXXXX

      • Oh yes, haha! Every pay day though I always buy loads of makeup, I need to set some money aside for clothes this time haha! So tired of my current clothes! However, may have to have a cheeky eyeshadow purchase ;-).

Love all the colour combos in this palette. You are testing my resolve to tighten my pursestrings! Some of us are trying to de-stash over here! b x

    • lol lol lol!!!! You know, I swear I was thinking that very same thing when I was editing all the pics – look at the colours and I still go for pink! I think it’s time I went for something totally out of my comfort zone 😉 hehe
Haaaaa my apologies for the enabling… I’m afraid you may have to rethink that de-stash. Or better still… maybe you’re making room for fabulous new purchases 😉 lol XXX
