It’s official: My name is Karen and I’m a YouTube addict.
I’ve spent more hours trailing the internet for info this weekend than the last few weeks put together – however there’s a really good reason for what seems like my multiple hours of procrastination gals. You see, back when I was 21 I spent a crazy amount of money training to become a nail technician, & for a short while I even had my own little nail bar in a salon. Since then I’ve always harboured a fascination for nails and nail art, and have occasionally indulged in keeping on top of my skills by enhancing the claws of friends and family members.
However, with almost £1k of nail kit sitting idol in my beauty room, I thought it was high time I started to get back into the swing of things. After searching online, I found a local refresher course for a couple of hundred pounds. As much as I’d love to indulge in topping up my skills by attending a day course, right now I’ve more pressing bills to spend my hard earned cash on. However YouTube has proved it’s virtual weight in goal as I stumbled across a full length refresher tutorial with the brand I originally trained with! *yippeee* I couldn’t believe my luck! As soon as I settled down to watch it everything came flooding back and before long I was unearthing my bottle of monomer, coloured acrylics and sculpting brushes! How fabulous 🙂 Hopefully within the next few weeks It’ll be an exciting little project I’ll be getting back into, a few practice runs and I know I’m good to go. That’s the great thing about training, it’s always something to dip back into when the notion rises. Ps: If you can recommend any great nail YouTubers to add to my subscription list let me know in the comments below!
As for today, well it’s all about filming, blogging and catching up with you lovely lot… and if you’re planning a little catch up of your own then why not start by checking out what’s been happening over the last week here on Confetti and Curves…

Omg! I’m excited to hear more about your new project. I also wish that I could do nail art and all that, but unfortunately I’ve only recently (sort of) acquired the skill to paint my nails without getting any of the polish on my skin, haha.

Awh thank you so much huni!! I just figured with my acrylic kit sitting there doing nothing it would be a shame not to get back into it so have been literally absorbing YouTube videos all weekend! I’m obsessed already!!! lol Hey, trust me huni, doing your own nails is sooooooooo much harder than someone elses!!! Mine quite often look like a blindfolded toddler has painted them, crazzzy lol XXX

Hahahah! That’s why I like getting my nails done! But since my skin is extremely sensitive, I usually end up bleeding after a manicure 😦 I guess no pain no gain, right? Hahah
Exactly! It would be a real shame to let it collect dust.. Hahah I know what you mean! YouTube can really suck you in! I can’t wait to see what you have in store

Ahhhh that’s such a horrid experience 😦 I’ve been to a few nail technicians in the past who have bled my nails, cut my cuticles and made a general hash of it. Nothing worse or more off putting 😦 But yep, would be a shame to collect dust and I love working with acrylic so definitely looking forward to getting back into it 😀 Hope you’re having a fab week huni, and thank you SO much for all your encouragement ❤ XXXXX
