New Hair, A Shopping Trip & My First Ever MAC…

Shopping

Happy Monday Chums…

WOW what a weekend – I’ve been utterly marinaded in beauty induced shenanigans over this last 48 hours! Must it end? *sob* Where to begin… Oh yes, well, on Friday evening I (finally) waved a cheerful cheerio to a good 5 inches off my frazzled follicles as I emerged from the Hair Salon looking a heck of alot more human than when I first went in. I had so much sympathy for my super skilled hair dresser Anthea, as she got to grips with the gruelling mission that lay ahead of her – to colour, cut & rehydrate an entire years worth of a hair crime scene. It’s only under the harsh lights of a salon could I actually truly embrace the menacing vision of how much my head resembled a forgotten haystack. It was ATROCIOUS. However being the true wonder-worker Anthea is I was looking preened & pampered in less than 2 hours. Not bad eh?

Refreshing Essentials…

Saturday morning kicked off with getting ready for a shopping trip to Belfast with the girls in my life – aka my sis Leah & little Em’s. After taking a ridiculously looooong shower to freshen up with my new bath & body goodies I emerged smelling like a Carribean Goddess. Wafts of pineapple, mango & a cocktail of other fruity aromas transcended from the bathroom making my house smell like far flung juice bar on some dessert Island. Just for the record ladies I CANNOT recommend Original Source Pineapple shower gel highly enough – the worst thing about using it is fighting the urge to want to taste it… it really does smell that goooood!

Of course after I’d deep cleaned every pore it was time to tackle any remnants left on my tired and dehydrated face… thankfully my Nivea Micellar Water, Olay Toner & a darn good dosing of Dove Pro-Age put right to that, leaving me glowing and ready to face a full on afternoon of retail thereapy

The Outfit….

I don’t know about you gals but shopping ALWAYS leaves me feeling hot & bothered, especially on a warm summer Saturday afternoon when the high street is bunged to the hilt with other savvy shoppers. As it was considerably drizzly on Saturday I was in a total state of confusion as to what to wear – the air was hot but a list misty rain was descending from the heavens, literally the worst weather for flustered faces and frizzy hair *groan* In the end I decided to stick to my casual comfies: A stretchy pair of Simply Be boot-cut denim jeans, a light and airy cotton blouse from Evans, my little slip on tan flats (also from Evans) & my matching ‘Miranda’ bag from Accessorize, which has oodles of room for the purse, mints, aqua & a tonne of lip balms that seem to be amongst my top handbag essential these days!

.

The Makeup…

MAC Brave

I’d waited patiently for this moment all week – how I managed to stave it off for 5 whole days was beyond me however on Saturday morning my lips where in for such a treat as I got to try out my first ever MAC lippy in the beautiful shade BRAVE. What a stunning colour! How awesome is my baby sis by kick starting my collection with this amazing satin MAC lippy? The smell, the texture, the staying power – without a doubt one of the most textured and opulent lipsticks that have graced my lips. If you haven’t got a MAC in your life you NEED to get one, they are aaaahhmazing. And the smell… oooh the smell. It’s like butter icing laced with a hint of creamy fudge. Pout perfection.

As for the rest of my Makeup here’s what I opted for ladies – you know me well enough by now to assume that an Urban Decay Naked Palette will nearly enough always be my first pick for the eyes! All the colours blended in so darn perfectly with the MAC Brave lippy too.

The Finished Look…

My aim was for a warm, soft & summery look as these shades always work best with my light complexion, making it appear much warmer and less harsh. If (like me) you’re battling oily skin this summer I’d highly recommend trying out the No 7 Beautifully Matte Foundation – what a treat for the face. The formula is such a breeze to blend. I personally find it works in perfect harmony with the Real Techniques Stippling brush for a flawless, airbrushed finish that will keep your skin shine free for 14 hours straight. A worth while investment for these balmy summer days ladies.

As for my hair, well that pretty much speaks for itself. I went back to my basics with a rich dark chocolate brown, soft layers & a textured cut – which seems perfect to manage for naturally curly hair. Isn’t it amazing how much better a new hair cut makes you feel about yourself? I love it, it’s so much more manageable!

The Reveal…

Bags

So as you can well imagine the shopping trip was a major success. Even though the muggy summer weather wasn’t exactly being kind to us it didn’t manage to dampen our retail spirits one bit, plus heading home for a yummy Chinese takeaway and chatter about our new beauty goodies made dodging the drizzle worth it in the end.

“So what the heck did you buy Karen?!?” I hear you cry! Well, I thought I’d leave that for this Wednesdays YouTube chatter, so keep an eye out for one heck of a huuuuuge beauty haul coming to your screens. It’s gonna be a fab one 😉

What did you get up to this weekend? Don’t forget to say hello in the comments below – we always love a quick chatter here on Confetti & Curves

    • Isn’t it DEEEEEEVINE Anne? Feel like my lipstick collection is slowly becoming a heck of a lot more classy – first my amazing Chanel (which I wore yesterday *swoon*) and now the MAC!!
Really enjoying the new hair indeed – it’s so much more manageable, just need to keep on top of it now to prevent it drying out etc. Have ordered a little hair serum and some new products to keep me going for a while 😉 Hope all is going as well as it can be with ‘Operation House Move’ ❤ XXXXXXX

Slightly shorter hair is so much easier to manage, I love it.
Operation House Move has started slow and is now gaining momentum. This week will be a little crazy 😉 xxx

I was relieved to cut my hair off because it was so easy and quick to do. Though now I am growing it longer again but I just always like changing up my hair lol. • Do ya know what huni, you’d be the 4th person today that mentioned my eyes with these eyeshadow shades – I think the Naked 3 must really be worth it’s money as it seems to be getting a few compliments lol I have to say I blooming adore the shades in it sooo much, those softer tones seem to suit me better! Oooh I’m so glad you like the new hair, honestly CBA with the whole looking after the long locks anymore Kaily – just wayyyy too much time & hassle *sigh* Oh that’s the Miranda purse from Accessorize – do you have that shop over there? I think they had a sale on for them, better than half price 😉 Just saying huni (hehe) Hope you’re keeping as well as can be *hugs* XXXXX

      • Mine is really long, I’ve been growing it for over two years now and it’s just reached my butt. I’m just starting to get it cut off now because it’s really damaged and so hard to take care of. I’m going slow tho, just a bit off the ends last week for a start. I don’t want a big dramatic change so it will be slow and steady.

    • lol lol Thank you sooooooo much huni, I do love it too as it’s so darn easy to look after!!! haha Yes, lip has been pierced since I was 16/17 – but had the bar out for a couple of months while back so you’d probably not have noticed it 😉 Very observant huni!! Ohhhhhh: HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!! *HUGE HUGS* XXXXXXXX
