Purchase info

Although this was sent to me for an honest review by the lovely team at Direct Cosmetics you can purchase it on their website for a mightily discounted price of £1.99 compared to the £7.99 RRP. Not bad eh girls?!

.

Packaging

Presented in one of the biggest bronzer compacts I’ve seen to date, it’s straight forward talking does exactly what it says on the lid. Okay so it’s not gonna win any awards for innovative design or stylishly good looks, however what it lacks in packaging presentation it surely makes up for elsewhere.

.

Pros

Being a HUUUUGE disc shaped case (virtually bigger than the entire palm of my hand) you’ve plently of room to swirl your favourite brush around so that the product really does caress every little bristle. Considering I’m virtually translucent many a bronzer can look utterly misplaced and harsh on my face, but not this one. It’s so completely buildable in such a natural tone… no orange streaks ladies, just a beautiful warm glow that literally does look like your skin has been ever so lightly smooched by the sun.

As you’s are well aware by now, I’m a sucker for scent… regardless what the product is a great smell will always make me skip to the tills. This bronzer tends to have a very delicate sweet scent to it – almost powdery in nature. One stroke of my Real Techniques blush brush and not only does it look ever-so-pretty, it smells like it too.

Weighing in at £7.99 RRP I’d honestly pay every single penny without a grudge. Not only is it an impressive amount of product but the formula, application & blend are equally fantastic. Don’t forget – you can buy it online via Direct Cosmetics for a mere £1.99! *Click Here*  to add it to your shopping cart… then all you have to do is wait eagerly on the post man arriving 😉

.

Cons

I’m genuinely struggling for cons here gals, however I will say it’s most likely not ideal for travelling… like I said it’s a pretty big compact so you are going to get a whole lotta usage out of it!

Another little niggle is the name… Sun SHIMMER. Considering the word shimmer is used in the descriptive packaging there’s actually no ‘shimmer’ of it at all, in fact it’s very much matte. In Karen’s world, the word shimmer concocts a whole range of glittery, light reflecting teeny-tiny particles; so if you’re looking for something that dresses you up like a bronzed disco ball I’d avoid investing. Otherwise it’s pretty much perfect 😉

.

Verdict

In my humble opinion actions speak louder than words & having worn this gorgeous bronzer for the past month here’s a few pics to show you the subtle but effective glow it blesses even the most difficult complexions with… no harsh lines, no bright orange racing stripes, just a natural but buildable sun kissed glow.

  1. Sounds like a great product – you look lovely in your light and medium glow pictures. Still haven’t got on the bronzer bandwagon, I think it would be hard to find one that looks good with my freckles xx

  2. I will have to try this! I just purchase Milani’s bronzer as a gift for someone. Now I’m second guessing. LOL. It’s nice to find a product that doesn’t cost 60.00US that is a good, quality product. Rimmel seems like a good line. I only have one lipstick from them, Airy Fairy.

    • I know!!!!!! Isn’t it such a bargain?! Light glow is my fav too… it’s just a hint of something but thought I’d show it in it’s many forms to gauge the build on it! Dark’s a tad intense for me but hey, it’s a great product lol XXX

    • I have to say Jen I’m not a huge fan of shimmery face products either – much prefer this matte glow, which I think alot of people do too… which is why I get a little baffled by why they call it sun ‘shimmer’ – I reckon they’d have been better sticking to the word ‘glow’ lol However a really lovely product, very subtle but buildable 😀 XXXX

    • Aahhh Jessica I’m exactly the same this weather – always feel like the last person to have read these things lol Clearly we’re just busy gals 😉 haha Honestly this bronzer is lovely, very buildable and just a lovely natural glow – I usually wear it on the lightest picture as it suits my tone better. Genuinely hard to fault it at all 🙂 Hope you had a fab wee weekend too lovely XXXX

    • lol lol!! Glad you like it Diana 😀 I thought it would keep it pretty much plain and simple whether or not I’d recommend it – seemed a tad harsh at the beginning but hopefully it comes across as fun lol Oh yes, have to put a wee ‘Whoop dee doo’ in there haha 😀 X

    • Thank you so much Kimmy 🙂 Yes, I’m confuddled as to why they’d consider putting the word ‘shimmer’ in there as it really isn’t shimmery at all – and seemingly would put alot of people off buying if it was!! Bit of a silly choice of words me thinks 🙂 Thank you so much for the compliment, I have to say I do really like it & it lasts for ageeeessss!! XXX
