 .

What inspired you to start blogging?

I’ve read blogs and watched youtube for about 6 years now, and decided to throw my own thoughts into the arena, and I wish I’d done it years ago as I really enjoy it!

I was also fed up of spending money on products that weren’t worth it, or it’s not the colour I thought it was going to be – so if I can save someone the same disappointment (and money), then I hope I’m doing something right.

 .

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

A quote I’ve loved for ages is a “woman is helpless whilst her nails are drying” I was really surprised that I couldn’t find anyone else with a similar name when I came to set up my blog so here I am!

 .

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

I have done – although have been on a recent roll. I tend to look at what’s new on the market, and that will often remind me of products which I already have an love. Alternatively I find doing things such as lust lists where I post things which I’ve seen and liked online (clothes, beauty, jewellery etc) are an easy way to get yourself back into it again and kickstart creative juices.

 .

What’s your favourite post to date?

Ooh that’s a hard one! I just had a flick through and narrowed it down to my Bedside beauty post (https://helplesswhilstdrying.wordpress.com/2015/01/09/bedside-beauty/), but also hope that my first post on the 5:2 diet for anyone who is considering doing it (https://helplesswhilstdrying.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/52-diet/)

 .

Describe your everyday clothes style:

In winter, skinny jeans with jumpers. In summer midi length skater skirts with shirts or tops. And always, no matter what time of year – a statement necklace, they take an outfit with absolutely no effort made, to something that looks special.

 .

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

My Little Beauty Volumising Mascara, Garnier Micellar Water and Sleek Contour Kit in Light

 .

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

Curled up on the sofa with my dog and boyfriend watching a movie – preferably with a glass of rose wine!

 .

Describe your ideal Saturday night

Spent in with friends/family with a takeaway chilling out at home- if we’re with family we tend to crack out the board games and play until 2 in the morning.

 .

What do you do to relax?

I love a Sunday afternoon walking in the countryside with our dog, especially when the sun is setting, we get home to a roast and then chill out at home it relaxes me out before going back to a busy workplace on a Monday morning. If I’m in by myself, Pretty little liars on Netflix with a large glass of rose wine.

 .

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

I’m easily the messiest person I know, and the messiest person most people know. Everything is clean, but it’s hidden under a pile of stuff!

 .

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

The best days of my life were summer holidays, my best friend always came on holiday with me and my sister, and we went with her vice versa. We went to Devon, Spain, Cornwall, Derbyshire & Scotland amongst others and they were easily the best days in my childhood.

 .

What was your favourite school subject?

English, we studied a lot of Shakespeare which I absolutely adored!

 .

What’s your dream job?

I’d love to be doing what I’m doing now – web/marketing designer, but in a purely fashion or beauty based environment, I cover these areas now as I work for a TV shopping channel – but it’s easily the areas that I enjoy most – and can give the best of myself to!

 .

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Job wise I would like to be doing the same, possibly self employed – I’d like to have bought a bigger house, and have a few kids crawling around the house, maybe with an extra dog as well!

 .

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Run a 10k (A marathon would be a too much commitment for me)

Have children

Adopt a rescue dog

Go self employed

Visit the general Australasia region

 .

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

I’m very proud to have got to where I have in my career, be a home owner, and a happily settled person in life in general by the age of 25. I’ve got to where I want to be, before I thought I could.

 .

Who inspires you?

My mum and dad, they’re self employed and they are the hardest working people I know – they’ve built a successful business and have achieved so much, and whenever I’m annoyed at working late, I always know my parents are working later, working from 9am – 2am is normal for them!

 .

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

“Be Yourself, Everyone else is already taken” –  Oscar Wilde

 .

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Just get on with it, don’t worry if you don’t have a great camera (I have an SLR but always reach for my iPhone instead), blog about what you’re interested in, now what you think others will be interested in, that way even if it takes time you’ll find readers who are similarly interested. If you’re not blogging about what you truly love, you’ll struggle with motivation.
