Hey Beauty Buddies…
Friday is finally upon us *happy dance* Thanks to all you lovely ladies who checked in with yesterdays post Have We Met?! My social media accounts have been buzzing with lots of new friendly faces! Always a treat to connect with you guys beyond the walls of WordPress…
So to end the week with a bit of a bang I thought I’d share my moans views on the Hard Candy Split Personality Eye Shadow Duo. Have you bought one of your own? Are you thinking of splurging? Well before you flash the cash here’s the low down on how I got on with it!
Sitting comfy? Then let’s get started…
.
Hard Candy Split Personality Duo Eye Shadow
.
Considering Hard Candy have now removed the product from their website there’s very little I can add here other than what would be my own description of the item in question… “an utterly useless object with little or no pay off” I think that pretty much covers it gals.
.
One thing I was rather impressed with *gasps of shock* was how pretty this eye shadow wand type thingy was presented. The cute little box, sassy print & chrome effect wand was all rather pleasant on the lamps, but that’s as far as my positive impressions reached. After taking it out of the box it felt cheap and very gimmicky. Not something this 32 year old woman wants gracing her make-up bag or cosmetic drawers thank you very much *hmmpf*
.
Ermmm *ponders*…. well, Emma likes it. However given the fact that my daughter is 9 years old I’m not sure that’s a valid entry on my list of ‘Pros’ – and it’s certainly not for a majority of my readers either, who don’t have a little girl that loves trying out Barbie inspired make-up looks!
Honestly ladies I’m wrecking my brains trying to think of something remotely worthy about this product and I’m failing miserably. One thing I will say is that considering it’s a rather compact double-ended wand that contains the eye shadow within the lid caps, I thought it would’ve been the perfect little companion for my hand bag on a night out or gym bag for a quick make up look after a hard work out. Although it’s not what I would call an everyday cosmetic staple it could have been so handy on the go – if it worked!
.
Where do I begin?! There’s just so many. Okay, firstly lets start with the applicator – it’s a spongy little bullet type device that you plunge into the lid of the wand, which in turn should pick up on some eye shadow for you to smoother over your lid. Well, that seemed to be the initial plan, however it picks up such a tiny amount of product that I continuously had to dip the wand into the lid to reapply.
The product itself feels greasy and doesn’t sit evenly either with or without primer, trust me, I’ve tried both ways! After an hour of wearing this the shadow it looked like any product that was on the lid had completely worn off or seeped into my skin. As for the colour pay off, don’t get me wrong I’m all for the ‘keep it natural’ look (occasionally) but this is virtually non existent.
According to the packing there’s 50 applications per side – unfortunately it would take all 50 to get it looking like you had any eye shadow on your lids at all!
(I used a tiny amount of glitter liner just to add a little bit of sparkle along the upper lash line)
.
Having read some pretty positive reviews about the Hard Candy brand I was really taken back by how seriously disappointed I was in this product – nor am I a bit surprised it’s not any where to be found on their website. If ever there was a beauty blooper this is it!
…
Sorry ladies, I genuinely wish I’d more good news and tales of a fabulous find on this occasion, but unfortunately it wasn’t mean’t to be *sigh*
Have you tried any Beauty Bloopers of your own recently? I’d love to know! Don’t forget to say a quick hello in the comments below… wishing y’all a wonderful weekend 🙂
Oh dear lol. I’ve never heard of that product until now, it’s no wonder you can’t find it anymore.
Fab post and awesome honest review xx

I agree Laura – was so excited when it arrived but honestly it was such a huge let down. I’ve give it to Emma for her play makeup… Sorry about the Sleek powder, that’s also really frustrating when the product is darker than anticipated *grrr* I guess these things are sent to try us lol Awwwh what a compliment – If only I could be 24 again… almost a decade older. Crazy to think! haha XXX

Yes, it’s the pink one V – isn’t it shockingly poor?! Like reeeeeeally cheap grease paint or something – slides off as soon as you put it on. I was almost toying with the idea it was an eyelid malfunction… seemingly not though!!! Just an awful product 😦 XXX

Total and utter flop indeed Katie – really not a fan of it, HOWEVER Emma is having a ball now she’s the proud owner of it for her play makeup collection lol
Hasn’t put me off the brand at all (thankfully) huni, just a shame the first thing I tried was a tad rubbish lol Thanks for stopping by sweetie *huge hugs* XXXXX

Well at least its getting some use! lol. I’m glad to hear that someone enjoys it! 🙂 I hope that you will get to try something else from them that you will really like. Hardy Candy is a brand that is often overlooked. I really want to try their Glamoflauge foundation too lol. It’s only $6! I’ve heard mixed reviews but I think it might be something I would like. Anyway, it’s always a pleasure stopping by Karen! *Huge Hugs!* XXXXX

lol lol – it is indeed Katie 😀 I think you’re right in saying that it would be good to try something else from them so I must have a look and keep an open mind.
I think for $6 that foundation is definitely worth a try.. no too much of a loss if it doesn’t work out for you but fingers crossed it does of course 😀
Always a pleasure having you stop by Katie – hope you have a lovely Sunday chum XXX

Hard Candy has some hits and misses, like any other product, but sad this one didn’t work. One of my first purchases from Sephora (when they had it) was a Hard Candy lipgloss/stain which I loved. That and Nars lipstick. 🙂

I think I’ll have to try a few more of their offerings Steph as I’ve read quite a few positive reviews on the brand – just a shame this little eye shadow wand was a bit of a flop! Oh, I must have a look at their glosses 😉 x

I’ve never bought anything from Hard Candy. I always thought it was crappy but maybe they do have some good stuff? I don’t know. I heard the blush that comes in the box is good but…….. This is one brand I think of giving to a little girl just to play with and feel fancy or apply to her dolls. I do have a dear blogger that I follow who does like something in the line but for me, I don’t even think I would try. I rarely hear anything good. They have a cute name though!

Honestly I had no experience with them before this huni so I was a blank canvas to the brand – however I have read a few positive reviews about other products they’ve brought out! I just picked a dud lol
Yep, you’re spot on with your thoughts as my nine year old daughter absolutely loves it – clearly it’s a hit with the youngsters as opposed to a 32 year old woman – lesson learned, however one very happy little 9 year old who currently has it in her ‘play makeup’ bag 😀 XXXX

There’s always a target market! If they are hit with little girls and young ladies just starting out, that’s perfect. If I had girls, I certainly wouldn’t be buying Chanel blush for them. LOL

Wow, how unfortunate! Hard Candy does have some great stuff, but I’ve personally never been too impressed with their eyeshadows other than the natural eyes palette they recently came out with. I haven’t had any bloopers lately, but I did order some new elf stuff that doesn’t have many reviews yet *fingers crossed*

Fingers firmly crossed indeed Kayla – hopefully they’ll work out well & you’ll enjoy them! Would love to hear your own thoughts on the Elf goodies if you get round to it sometime 🙂
I think I just picked a dud with Hard Candy, have read a few good reviews about some of their other products so will give the brand another go with an open mind lol Hope you’re having a lovely weekend 🙂 Xo xo
