Reacting to Past Pic’s with Say Hello To Gorgeous…

past picture

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Today’s post is a teeny bit sentimental for me as I’ve teamed up with the rather fabulous Vanessa over at Say Hello To Gorgeous…. If you haven’t had the pleasure of checking out her talent packed corner of the interweb then do get yourself over pronto. It’s a treat for make-up mavens & cosmetic cravers all across the globe as she brings you the latest news, reviews, looks & launches. Yes, you’ll LOVE it!!

So V and I decided it would be rather fun to do a little bit of a collab focusing on some of our past pics… and of course what a fun way to give you guys a little peak into our early lives by unleashing the good, bad & darn right cringe worthy delightful photo’s from days of yore! Here goes…

.

Baby me

Even from a ‘matter of months’ old I was never off the phone. Here’s a rare pic of a younger me basking in the sun whilst handling a few ‘business’ calls 😀 However being the first child it was inevitable I was going to be the test subject for my mother’s love of frilly outfits and (what looks like) miniature shoulder pads. I often remember her saying that I had so many clothes I never got to wear them all… oh how times have changed *peers solemnly into a sparsely contained closet*

.

school

Moving on a few years and it’s my first day of school! Armed with an apple (and an alarming amount of unruly hair) I prepare myself for *almost* 14 years of text books & tantrums. I can assure you my face was not as smiley come the end of the gruelling journey! I’ve never quite understood anyone who declares that ‘school years are the best of your life…’ I tend to query their definition of fun! However in the years of madness that followed I made some great friends, had ups, had downs and donned some ‘interesting’ makeup looks. Does anyone remember the 90’s craze for bright coloured eyeshadow, dark lined lips, body glitter, leggings and slouch socks?! *groan* Say no more right? Thankfully those pics have disappeared from the photo album a loooooooong time ago!

 .

teenage me

So here I am at 20 clutching a box of shots in preparation for my best friends 21st birthday weekend. At least a dozen of us had booked a party pad holiday cottage, fully prepared in the knowledge that many of us would return home potentially nursing the mother of all hangovers. Needless to say I survived (just) but the memories were worth the agony. It was at this age that I felt the most confident in my appearance – however, having great friends who’re supportive & really do care make all the difference to your self-esteem and confidence levels.

Wedding day

Here comes the bride… at the ripe old age of 25 I said ‘I do’ to my best friend and incredibly patient hubby. Needless to say working in the wedding industry has it’s perks on preventing the dreaded ‘bridezilla syndrome’, as does having a wedding planner as a great friend 😉 This (along with the birth of our little girl) was the best day of my life. Marriage is tough and often hard work but with the right ingredients (and a sprinkle of tolerance for accepting each other’s differences) it can be the best journey you embark on. Almost 11 years after meeting, Steve & I are still a great team I’m happy to say!

Emma and I

And here I am now, with my little girl who is growing up fast. Just like her mum, Emma adores playing with make-up and has a weakness for pretty little lip glosses. Looking back when I was 9 years old and rummaging through my mum’s make-up bag, I felt so grown up. With Emma I genuinely wish time would slow down – watching her grow and develop into such a young little lady has been the best experience of my life. Having kids really does change your outlook and priorities in life. Don’t get me wrong, being a mum is tough, it has it’s good days and it’s bad – but having a little person tell you that you mean the world to them is the best feeling ever. I may have a little future beauty guru on my hands but she’ll always have a mum who will want nothing but happiness for her in whatever her own journey may bring.

  1. What a fun post, I love seeing your pics!! I can’t even find words to describe those baby shoulder pads…and the photo of you on the first day of school is adorable! (Btw, I am one of those weirdos who loved my school days…ha!) Anyway, I was just thinking you can totally see the resemblance between you and Emma 🙂 So cute!

  2. What lovely pics and memories, and what a lovely idea! You look especially gorgeous in your wedding photo. Oh, and I love the ‘old skool’ pram and baby bonnet combo – stylish, even as a wee baby!

Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day! (It’s almost the weekend! *happy dance*) xx

    • Awwh thank you Amanda – isn’t the pram crazy… I think one of my aunts still has it tucked away in her garage somewhere *rolls eyes* Dear knows what state it’s in now! lol Was such a fun post to do – so glad you stopped by to say hi 🙂 Happy shuffling with ya huni *woo hoo* lol XXX

      • That pram looks like it was passed down through the generations! Amazing! They don’t make them like that anymore – that’s for sure!

And it’s always a pleasure ‘happy shuffling’ with you 🙂 xxx

      • You’re so right – in fact I haven’t seen a carriage pram like that in years come to think of it. It was a Silvercross Balmoral, most of the prams now have 3 wheels and look like something out of Total Recall… slightly futuristic compared to my vintage wheels Amanda haha You can still buy that pram of mine shockingly enough… found it on John Lewis, same model & colour too. I’m surprised it’s not discontinued!! Pretty but not the most practical I must say lol x

      • I agree! I think the ‘old skool’ Silvercross prams are just lovely, and so stylish! So much prettier than these space buggies! But yes, not the most practical, admittedly.

I’m just glad all my kids are out of pushchairs now! They are such a pain, especially in busy town centres!

Anyway, enough of my rambling. You go enjoy your weekend! 🙂

I use to wear so much glitter my boyfriend at the time would joke around with me asking if I had just finished a craft project. 😉 I have to say I miss everything about the 90’s. lol If it was acceptable today I would wear the body glitter!! lol Btw gorgeous wedding picy! ❤ I also got married at 25, we're coming up on our 10th anniversary! You're little girl is a tiny version of you, beautiful like mom!
