Sunday Shenanigans…

Sunday Shenanigans

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Yaaaay for a brand new month! I always get excited for March arriving as sunny spring is just peeking round the corner… time to clear out the closet and relish in a whole new season of adventures.

How was your weekend? Did I miss anything? We had one of the quietest 48 hours in a loooong time. Forget a pj day, it was more like a full weekend of lounging around doing absolutely nothing apart from recharging our batteries… I even managed to close the laptop for (most) of the duration too – I know, shocking right?!

However come Sunday morning I woke with a huge urge to spring out of bed and fill my lungs with some fresh salty sea air by taking a lovely dander along our local beach. Considering the sun was streaming in through the cracks of the blinds it would’ve been a shame not to take advantage of such a gorgeous morning – anything to get out in a bit of much needed sunshine.

Tottering down the stairs semi-ready for my seaside dander, Steve was busy working away in the kitchen… he’d gotten up early to prepare a yummy Sunday lunch and had the entire house cleaned from one end to the other. Seeing as I usually tackle most of the cooking it was such a welcomed break and a great feeling having absolutely nothing to do… so Ems’ and I grabbed our coats and headed out for a bit of fresh air whilst Steve stayed at home sipping his coffee and pre-booking the all important Ireland v England rugby game (that would undoubtedly exercise my vocal chords)

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to take a few piccies of our little Sunday shenanigans to share with you guys…

Sunday Dinner

Yep, photographic evidence that a huge Sunday lunch was all prepared by my very own head-chef. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy eating it… what a lucky lady 🙂

Spring Flowers

On our way out the front door I noticed (for the 1st time I must add) my little spring flowers have made an appearance meaning it’s ‘almost’ time to shed the winter woollies *happy dance*

Emma and Karen

So we made the 45 second walk to the breezy shores (yes we live that close!) and I have to say that although my teeny little spring flowers are in full bloom I’ll not be hanging up my chunky knits just yet… it was SO cold but worth the teeth chattering!

Beach 6

Searching for little weird shaped pebbles (preferably heart ones) to add to Emma’s collection of seaside memorabilia she has stored in various places, including a little pile by the front door and a jar full of shells in the bathroom. Love seaside life ❤

Beach 3

Time for a dander along the shoreline… so good for clearing your thoughts and unbelievably therapeutic. Any time I feel my anxiety playing up a walk along the beach always helps calms me down. Everyone needs a bitta beach in their lives 😉

Beach 4

I don’t care what anyone says, no matter what age you are you can’t resist playing catch with the waves… even if it means squelching home in soggy gym shoes! Thankfully I have a 9 year old daughter I can excuse my childish Tom foolery on *rolls eyes*

Beach 2   Beach 5

Tide well on it’s way out, getting windy and cold…

Beach 8

A windswept Em’s

Beach 9

Homeward bound for some tea & warmth by the fire.

Did you do anything exciting this weekend, or like us did you spend it chillaxing? As always thanks so much for reading, do say a quick hello in the comments below, you know how much I enjoy a little chatter! Happy March y’all 🙂

Cheerio chums…

    • Awwh really?! I hope you get to visit very soon 🙂 Sometimes I think we take it for granted, it really is lovely having such a beautiful coastline on our doorstep. Yes, it was a great day thanks huni, very relaxed and that sea air knocked me out lol X

  1. Your weekend sounds so amazing! I live right by the good old North Sea… about a 5 minute walk but I can see it from my window. I wasn’t as brave as you to go down for a walk though! It was very chilly and wet up in Aberdeen at the weekend. Loved looking at your pics, nice post 🙂 xxx

    • It was freeeeeeeeezing Melissa – looked amazing with the sun shining though when I got down there the clouds had drawn in so the temp had dropped! However we’d a good dose of snow today – thankfully didn’t lie though! So stressful driving in snow lol I’m sure it’s unbearably cold in Aberdeen at the moment – time for the extra layers lol Thanks for stopping by huni, hope you had a super weekend too 🙂 Xo

  2. Such a cute photo of you and Emma! Looks like you had a blast 🙂
The beach is what I miss most living in the city 😦 My parents live at the seaside (not as close as you, but only a minute or two away) and I miss being able to just go for a nice long walk!

    • We really did Anne, it’s so lovely having the beach right at our door – I think sometimes we take it for granted though!! City living is always so much fun but I understand you missing being near the sea – there’s something so therapeutic about being able to grab your coat and wander down to the shore! Hope you have a great week chum 🙂 X

    • It truly is Lisa – you can’t beat a few days of chillaxing with the clan right? 😉 Oh no to the snow… no wonder you haven’t been any where near the beach lately!! Having said that we had some snow this morning – no beach walks for a little while longer lol
Thank you so much lovely, glad you enjoyed the post – much appreciated. Happy March to you too!! ❤ XO

  5. Karen your weekend sounds amazing. I had to work most of Saturday but the remainder was quite productive in getting a few things done around the house that we have been putting off. Had a god start on the garage that has gotten too messy to park the car in. Not quite back to pulling the car in there yet but we are making some headway! Have a wonderful week!

  6. Sounds like you had such a lovely weekend Karen! You’re so lucky to live by the sea. That would be so peaceful and relaxing. Your husband is wonderful for making dinner and cleaning, wow you’re spoiled but you so deserve it! I got out of the apartment on Saturday. Ron and I grabbed an early dinner/late lunch and then we did a little shopping. It was nice to actually get out to do something over the weekend. Even though Ron is still gripping to me about spending money haha. I may have talked him into purchasing me a thing or two lol. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend though Karen and I look forward to chatting with you soon!! 🙂 Xoxo

    • Awwwh thank you so much Katie – I really am a lucky gal 😀 Your weekend with Ron sounds absolutely lovely, hope you had a wonderful time… you’re right, it’s so nice to get out of the confines of the house for a while! Oooh dear… are you still on your min sprees haha 😉 *tut tut* lol Awk sure you’re more than worth it huni 🙂 yes, will definitely speak soon – promise!!! *huge hugs* XXXX

      • You’re very welcome Karen – I had a very nice time out even though I came home feeling so exhausted just for being out a couple of hours lol. I need to get out a lot more haha. Yeah I still have mini sprees but no worries I have most of my money saved up for my trip and plan on purchasing my ticket at the beginning of April, probably on the first lol. I get a great deal going from Las Vegas to Detroit and Detroit to Las Vegas. Only thing is that the plane I take is so uncomfortable to sit in for 4 hours but I am sure to bring my pain medication and I do all right lol. I am just dreading the seat belts…ugh being a plus size woman, plane seat belts are not very friendly. Luckily we don’t have to keep them on the entire flight. I hope you’re having a great start to the week so far! *huge hugs* XXXX

      • That is amazing news that you’re almost ready to buy your flight – I’m so chuffed for you and well done with all the saving!!! I completely sympathise with the whole plane journey… I hate flying at the best of times simply because I’m terrified of it but having to battle the effects of being a plus size squished into such a tiny space with a seatbelt that would barely go round my ankle, is torture!!! *arrrrrghhh* Once in the air take those meds, flip your belt and have a little sleep or read a good book! You’ll be there before you know it 😉 not having the best of weeks at all huni but I’m trying to keep cheerful, hopefully it’ll get better soon! Hope yours is going well 🙂 Xo xo

      • Awe Karen I am so sorry that you’re not having a very good week. If you need to talk or anything feel free to email me. Just let me know if there is anything that I can do. I am pretty much free all of the time so please feel free to chat with me anytime. Or if you don’t want to and just keep to yourself I understand that too. But it’s really good to be able to vent sometimes and have other people see things with a different point of view. I hope everything is okay. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ❤ XoXo

  10. Hi again Karen! Just wanted to ask you a quick question. For the beauty tag that you tagged me in last, is it okay if I use the same picture as you did for it? 🙂 I have the post done and it’s in the schedule to post by this coming weekend. ❤ xo

  11. I was so excited for March, thinking it would be the beginning of the end of winter. But, we got a snow storm yesterday so I’m super envious of your shore-centric weekend. Also, totally jealous at how close you live to the water! Do you have any good view from home?? I spent my weekend with my family and studying, boring as always.

    • Oh no 😦 Having said that because we don’t get much snow here it’s a bit of a novelty when it arrives 😀 I know – Im very bless living so close and do have a nice view of it from the upper windows 🙂 45 seconds and I’m down on the beach front – so handy eh?! Oooh poop to boring studying 😦 What are your studying about?! X
