My Weekend In Pictures…

My Weekend In Picture

Happy Monday Beauty Buddies…

Did you all enjoy the weekend? I have to admit, mine was super special and in honour of having such a great time I thought I’d share it with you guys *woo hoo* So here’s a snippet of my weekend in pictures…

Friday Night:

 Steve & Karen

Seeing as Steve and I aren’t huge fans of celebrating Valentines by hitting by town, we usually opt for having a little extra special date night at home together. Since I was attending a pre-booked showing of Fifty Shades of Grey with my sister on Saturday night, we decided to move our mini valentines celebrations to Friday instead (I know, I’ve such a great hubby eh!?) which thankfully worked out just as perfect as we’d planned!

Much to my surprise, Steve pulled out all the stops and wowed me with a gorgeous candle lit meal for the both of us which went down an absolute treat for our rumbling tums – a creamy coconut infused chicken curry with a medley of mixed veg… nom!!

Valentine combo 1

Funnily enough both of us had agreed not to buy anything… however we’re obviously a pair of rebels as we surprised each other with a few sneaky little goodies – which also handily served as a yummy dessert 😉 I’m such a lucky lady, he really is amazing!

Saturday:

Saturday afternoon was spent mulling over a comfy but smart casual outfit choice for a girls night out to Fifty Shades of Mortification Grey. Usually after an hour of sitting in the cinema I’m either wilting like a dried flower or teeth-chatteringly cold (thanks to the indecisive air con system) all whilst battling the ill-effects of numb bum *sigh*  So I decided to play it safe with light layers, warm jeans, comfy leather flats and a few of my fav accessories such as cute owl earring, my ‘Miranda’ bag from Accessorize *swoon* and of course my signature scent of the season – Miss Dior by Dior

All that was left to do was raid my make-up collection for some glam inspiration…

 Outfit Combo

Leah convinced me to swap my ‘safe & boring’ lip gloss for some sassy MUA red-lippy instead. It would seem that meeting Mr Grey is the perfect opportunity to break out a sultry lip look *raised eyebrow* I admit, it’s not a colour I wear often (simply because I feel I’m wayyyy too pale to pull it off) however here’s the final result:

Finally… all ready for Mr Grey!

Karen Ready

So there you have it girls (most of) my weekend in pictures! I’m afraid Sunday is a bit of a lazy day in the Rees household so apart from yawning, reading, writing and eating things that are disgracefully bad for my waistline, there wasn’t very much else to take pictures off… lucky you eh?!

So what did you get up to this weekend? Were you out painting the town red or curled up on the sofa enjoying a cosy night in?

As always thanks for reading & don’t forget to say hi in the comments below! You all know by now how much I enjoy a good chatter 🙂

Cheerio chums…

    • Awwh thank you Anne 🙂 Thought I’d let the hair down and go a bit daring for once lol The Movie… hmmm… well, I wasn’t so keen. Honestly I thought it lacked chemistry & believability if truth be told. Left feeling a bit ‘what was that’ lol X

      • Honestly Hayley, I wasn’t over impressed… I thought the acting was questionable and on screen chemistry was a bit ropey. I really like the story line but was hoping the film would salvage some parts of the book, but nope. Maybe it’s just me but the hype around it seemed a whole lot more exciting than what the film left me feeling. Quite liked Jamie but not sure about Dakota for the role of Anna 😦 Having said that I there has been so many others who loved it, I think it’s just down the the individual perception 😀 How did you get on with it huni? Xo xo

      • Aww Karen we are SOOO similar in more ways than I thought!!!! I felt the exact same!! I was a bit underwhelmed and I couldn’t really pin point what it was….. I think it’s because when you read a book you have an idea of the characters in your head and I totally agree, Dakota didn’t match up for me either. It was watchable but it didn’t live up to the hype for me either…. I think you have hit the nail on the head with the chemistry too! I was comparing it to Twilight weirdly enough and their chemistry was much more believable!!! Xxxxxxx

        Liked by 1 person

      • YES!!!! That’s exactly how I felt Hayley – underwhelmed but trying to figure out why!!! Can’t say exactly why but can only half guess it’s down to the whole idea in my head didn’t match up – you said it all in a nutshell, scarily similar views Hayley!!!! I only watched the first Twilight movie but apparently EL James was a massive fan of those movies so I can see the huge similarities in characters… trying to recreate a raunchier version of the Twilight saga me thinks!!! Seems alot of us felt the same – such a shame, it could have been SO much better!!! *sob* 😦 XXXX

      • I know exactly!!! I heard that too… But it was just a bit of an anti climax in the end! They had much better on screen chemistry and it was just much more believable than Dakota and Jamie…. I do love Jamie though haha 🙈 😉 xxxxxxx

  2. Aw, Sounds like you had a lovely weekend and rest assured you really suit a red lip! I’m intrigued to know how you found 50 shades, I’m off to see it tomorrow night! Xx

    • I sure did ~ Fiona and thank you so much lovely… bright colours intimidate me lol Well, hmmm, are you sure you want to know?! I must admit I was slightly disappointed – I just thought the chemistry wasn’t there on screen and it seemed a little over acted. I admit I thought the books were poorly written but reeeeeally like the story line (if that makes any sense lol) I was hoping a good team of scriptwriters etc would pull that up but it was a no go for me. Don’t get me wrong I think Jamie done a decent job of playing Christian – but Dakota was questionable. Worst thing is I really do want to say it was brill but just can’t 😦 Just remember that’s only my opinion – I’ve read some great reviews so it’s all down to the individual!! You might love it & I really hope you do huni 🙂 XXX

  4. Karen, that red lippy is GORGEOUS! You should wear it more! And we are kindred spirits when it comes to Sundays. Mine was spent bundled up like a burrito in my favorite blanket while I caught up on YouTube and cruised about Pinterest 🙂 Glad you had a lovely weekend ❤

    • Awww Jessica thank you so much – I’m always a bit intimidated by the bright colours even though I love them on others. Having said that it wasn’t so bad as I was sat in the dark cinema for two hours so bit of a cheat lol Bundled up like a burrito whilst browsing YT & Pinterest sounds wonderful! Definitely my kind of Sunday – hope you enjoyed your weekend too lovely & thanks for stopping by ❤ XXX

  5. It looks like you got spoiled! ❤ What a great husband. That curry looks delicious. Also, I love the red lip on you! You should definitely wear it out more. You look beautiful!!! For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I also had a night in (we too reject the notion of going out & spending a ton of money) . He surprised me with chocolates and a card that said "We go together like Kanye and Kanye" – LOL. He cooked us a meal of steak, pasta, mushrooms, asparagus, and crab. After dinner, we invited a couple friends over to play card games and Heads Up (the phone game by Ellen). 🙂

    • Hey lovely 😀 Thanks so so much Katie! I’ve had such a great weekend and a nice break from technology – which was oddly enjoyable for a little while lol Glad you liked the outfit, it was so comfy even if the red lips pushed me out of my comfort zone for a little bit haha
Steve’s meal was super romantic. Couldn’t believe the effort he went to ❤ Hope yourself & Ron had a lovely time together celebrating Valentines too!!! XXXX

      • You’re very welcome Karen! 🙂 I am glad that you had such a lovely weekend! I think I need to get away from technology sometime lol. I know what you mean about red lips, I rarely wear them but they are a lot of fun. Ron and I had a very nice Valentine’s Day. We had a nice dinner out and exchanged gifts of course. I am sure you’ve seen the pictures on Facebook maybe lol. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!! ❤ XXXX

It’s sooo cute lol Hoping to pop you over a catch up tomorrow – I keep blooming saying that but then something happens grrrrrr!!! I need to lock myself in a room where no one can find me, then I’d get peace to catch up without distractions lol Keep an eye for a novel arriving in your inbox any time soon!!! lol XXX

      • Yes the shirt is very funny! I plan on wearing tomorrow 😀 Ron knows how much I love Pusheen the cat and how lazy I can be sometimes lol. It’s perfect for me haha. I also got a rose and some chocolate too which I loved. Ron and I always take pictures when we go out to dinner it’s kind of funny. I do that because for some reason my Mom likes to see anything that we’re doing. Well I will be looking out for your novel then. I am really looking forward it! Your emails are definitely worth the wait! 😉 I know what you mean about becoming distracted. Ron is like a little kid and demands my attention whenever I need to do something important lol. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! XXX

    3. HOW WAS IT?! 50 SHADES OF GREY!
    4. This is in list form and i’m not sure how that happened.
    5. I’m going to go with it.

    • LOL Oh Kim you make me actually LOL with your comments – honestly you’re such a toot!!!! Okay here goes (in list form also) 😀

      1) Thank you SO much *blushing like a beetroot*
      2) I really am such a lucky gal – maybe you need to read 50 Shades to ignite your inner romantic Goddess *hahahahaha*
      3) Oooooh Kim – I think I may have to refer to your list. It wasn’t good huni… ropey acting, no chemistry, underwhelming… need I go on?! *sigh* Thing is (sooo weird) I don’t overly NOT like it but I left feeling really deflated after all the hype. I was hoping a team of decent scriptwriters etc would salvage the bady written/edited books. No go!! *grrr*
      4) I’m just following you lol
      5) Me too *high five*
      6) Right back at ya huni ❤ 😀 Xo

    • Awh, thank you Leah 😀 Yes – I agree, sometimes those quiet nights in really are the best & this one definitely was ❤
Funnily I was debating whether to say anything about it in the blog post itself but I knew a few blog buddies were going to see it so I didn't want to influence anyone's thoughts on it – even though it's smeared across the media right now lol I tried to avoid all reviews until I seen it myself. Not mega impressed 😦 X

  13. Beautiful makeup, Karen! You’re wrong about the red lippy, it really suits you. Girl after my own heart with the Miss Dior too, it’s my favourite scent. What was 50 Shades of Grey like? xx

    Liked by 1 person

    • Thanks so much lovely lady – you’re such a gem 🙂 Red is a little ‘out there’ for me although I LOVE it on other people… just need to get over my colour phobia haha 😀 Isn’t Miss Dior amazing?! I’m obsessed with it right now! 50 Shades was a bit of a let down – odd thing is I didn’t not enjoy it but the casting/chemistry/script was questionable. I like the idea of the story line & was secretly hoping a good tema of scriptwriters/directors would make it into something great but that just didn’t happen for me 😦 Having said that lots of others really enjoy it Lottie, so I think it’s down to individual perception! Are you going to see it? K xo xo

      • I’m not sure, I saw Jupiter Ascending with the Hubby but I’ve not heard great reviews on 50 Shades so it may be one that I check out when it comes onto Prime? You’re not the first person who’s said that it’s not much good. Shame for the writer, I bet they were so excited that their book was made into a movie! xxx

        Liked by 1 person

      • Hope Juptier Ascending was great!! I’ve seen some brill clips on it – yep shame about 50 Shades… thought the film would have salvaged the books!! But hey, she’s made her millions now – time to retire lol X
