Tried & Tested: Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hr Foundation

 Rimmel Lasting Foundation Review

Product:

Rimmel’s Lasting Finish 25Hr Foundation with Comfort Serum

Where I purchased it & cost:

My local Superdrug store for £7.99

Manufacturer Description/Unique selling points:

Instant perfect coverage that feels extra comfortable and lasts all day

– Blends flawlessly, seamlessly, instantly and easily into the skin
– Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours

Packaging:

Honestly ladies I’ve no gripes whatsoever with the packaging, then again I find almost all of Rimmels products well presented and aimed appropriately at their target market and always easy enough to spot on the manufactures stand. It’s a robust glass bottle with a great pump dispenser (which in my opinion) is right up there with a few of high-end rivals – most importantly, it extracts all the product, minus a few dredges on the bottle walls.

Keep it stored upright rather than lying at an angle in the bottom of your make-up bag and you’ll have no issues with product wastage.

Pros:

Okay I admit, I have a teeny confession to make… I’ve actually been using this foundation for the last 2/3 years (yes, it’s THAT good!) So I’m already a whopping fan of Rimmel Lasting Performance. Having tried and tested a range of drugstore & high end foundations, Rimmel is BY far my go to for affordable & great looking make-up.

The product is really well presented, covers blemishes smoothly, doesn’t dry up,  lasts for ages (wearing this everyday I repurchase every 7/8 weeks) and most importantly it does what it says on the tin bottle.

As I usually apply my make-up every morning around 7am, it’s got to last the duration. Come midnight Rimmel Lasting Performance really is still as flawless as when it first glided on… however I do use a moisturiser and a basic Rimmel primer which does help give it a beautiful dewy finish throughout.

The product is considerably easy to remove so you’re not left scrubbing your face raw at the end of the night… I personally switch between Micellar water and facial scrub/toner, and both work perfectly.

Considering I’ve pretty sensitive skin *groan* I haven’t had any issues or breakouts of undesirable skin reactions at all, which is surprising for a product with such extensive coverage. The foundation is pretty buildable however I would say if you’re used with lighter make-up this may feel a little heavy in comparison.

Cons:

Understandably some of us aren’t huge fans of glass bottles, I’m not either if truth be told. Having said that the pump action dispenser really does make light work of an valuable product lurking in the bottom… unlike some bottled foundations I’ve tried in the past.

The shade range could be a little more extensive for darker skin tones judging by what I’ve seen on the shelves, however having the typical pale Irish complexion it’s not in any way an issue for us gals with a paler skin tones. However for those of you blessed with a little more colour than I have, my advice would be to check out the Rimmel website to see what shades are available on-line so you aren’t missing out!

Ultimately, it’s a hard task finding major cons for this flawless foundation.

Re-purchase/Recommend?

Considering I’ve re-purchased Rimmel Lasting Foundation for the last few years pretty much speaks for itself. I’d recommend this product time & time again – it’s superb value for money.

Verdict:

If you’re searching for a full-coverage foundation that’s easy on the pocket and lasts the duration then look no further beauty buddies. There’s nothing I don’t love about this product & after almost 14 hours wear here’s the pic to prove it…

Overall I’m giving this foundation an impressive 10/10 *woo hoo* I genuinely cannot find fault. Well done Rimmel, you’ve created a long lasting winner!

Fancy a bottle? You can buy directly from Boots & other leading high street retailers/drug-stores 🙂

Have you tried Rimmel Lasting Performance Foundation yet? Is it something you’d consider trying? Whatever your thoughts do let me know in the comments below – as always thanks for reading…

    • They really are fab foundations – I’m a huge fan of their products but funnily enough I haven’t tried the Match Perfection, though I have heard great things about it Jade 😀 Thank you so much for stopping by huni, much appreciated 🙂 Xo

      • I’ve just checked out the rest of your blog and it’s amazing! I really love the layout as well as the content, I hope you don’t think I’m being stupid or cheeky for asking but how did you get all your follow buttons and twitter feed etc down the side of your blog? I apologise if you think I’m being rude by asking. x

      • Firstly, what a compliment!! You have me grinning from ear to ear, I’m delighted you like it so much 🙂 The only stupid question is one that’s not asked (in my opinion) so don’t feel awkward or rude by any shot of the imagination!!
Bearing in mind I’m not a techy (!!!) I think what you may be asking about is the Widgets… rather than confuse the absolute life out of you here’s a link that may help you add them to your theme 🙂

This should (hopefully) talk you through it all step by step huni X

    • Thank you so much Hayley – glad you like it huni, you’re always such a supportive wee blog buddy ❤ Funnily my sister uses the Wake Me Up and absolutely adores it, but she mentions something about glitter on her hands – I have no idea what that's all about lol However she loves it, I personally haven't tried it but it looks beautiful. I think the 25hr may be a little heavier but if you like a full coverage foundation then I honestly think you'll LOVE it!!! 😀
Awwwh thank you so very much *blushing* that's so kind of you – grinning & beaming from ear to ear now lol XXX

      • Yes the Wake Me Up can be quite shimmery actually – so the 25hr looks amazing if you want a matte, full-cover finish …. which I LOVE! So I definitely need to be picking this one up and giving it a go next time I am passing Boots!!! 😀 xxxxxx<3

  2. Great post Karen! I definitely agree with you on the colour range but I think they have selected a target market as there are so many other brands that cater for darker skin tones. On a side note, you contour is on point!

    • Thanks so much Eva, yep their colour range isn’t huge but like you say I think that’s down to who their target market is – just sooo glad I fall into that category with my translucent complexion lol x Oh, thank you so much – you’ve made me day 😀 X

  4. I have this foundation too – in fact I have a review on it ready to go! 😛 I find I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation. Definitely not my favourite, yet I don’t hate it! x

    • Awwwh Beck that’s such a shame it didn’t agree with you quite as much 😦 I have to say I cannot fault it yet other foundations I’ve had recommended just haven’t worked out for me! I think there’s so many factors to consider but looking forward to reading your review huni and as always thanks for stopping by ❤ X

      • I’ve heard soooo many good things about the match perfection Becca, I think I’m going to have to try that one for myself… I seem to be in that zone where I love this one so much that I don’t want to try anything else lol Crazy eh!? 😀 But I have to give it a go as so many have raved about it!! Looking forward to reading it lovely & thank you so much ❤ Xx

      • Definitely give it a go! I don’t think it would be good if you have super oily skin, but I have combination-oily and I don’t have a problem. It just goes on so easily, looks so flawless and you can build it up without it going cakey. My mum uses the match perfection too and now she never buys any other brand.
I was the same with the match perfection! then i branched out to the wake me up. I think i should be adventurous and try a different brand entirely! hahah.

      • Haaaaa I think like that too – but then that’s pushing me WAYYY out of my comfort zone… what if I don’t like it?!?! *gasp* lol however this Match Perfection sounds too goo not to try 😉 xo

  5. I use Vichy foundation, but it’s £18 . . It’s amaaazing . . But again it’s £18 . .
I’d really LooooooVe to find a drugstore brand that sits well on my skin but anyone I’ve tried just never stays put, feeling greasy around my tzone, nostrils, chin etc & wears off quickly, so ive to top up every few hrs, I’ve used a few Maybelline ones & this always happens. . .

But I’ve heard so many good reviews for this one including yours so I reckon I’ll try this out . . Is there a good choice of shades? Xx

    • Oooh I’ve never actually used a Vichy foundation Maria – that sounds a lovely one for your skin 🙂 I think alot of girls suffer from the same issues, however I must say this one stays put on me – again I’m well under the belief that a good moisturiser and primer really help!
The shade choice is great for lighter-warm skin tones, I use Soft Beige 200 which seems just right for me. I personally think you’ll have an okay job finding one to suit huni 🙂 Xo

    • I honestly think it would be okay Taylor… having said that my skin is quite dry living near the the sea, so the salty air dries me out horrendously!!! Because I’m having to put a range of oily lotions and potions on my face to re-hydrate each day i’m happy to say the foundation has worked incredibly well along side them – if anything it’s enhanced it! I’d definitely give it a go and if you find it doesn’t work my next suggestion would be the Match Perfection. I haven’t tried it but am reading amazing things about it too 🙂 X

I adore it!!! Rimmel really are fantastic, I think you’ll be mightly impressed! Give me a nudge if you do get round to testing it – would love to know how you get on 🙂 Thanks for stopping by huni X

      • I think I would have to vote it one of my favourite drugstore brands. Rimmel and L’Oreal always dominate in my books. Rimmels prices are especially amazing though! 😀
You deserve millions of compliments, Karen! Sending you tons of South African hugs. :* xx

      • L’Oreal mascaras are a big love of mine. I was thinking about it the other day and I have no idea why I ever stopped using them. Their Telescopic mascara is especially an old favourite of mine. I have tried some horrible mascaras since then and never seemed to find my way back but now is the time for change. I want to try their Lash Architect. I read some good things about that one. 😀 xx

      • I have heard and read sooo many super reviews about the telescopic mascara Nadine – it looks amazing!! Haven’t seen the Lash Architect but must look out for it after I give the Telescopic a go!! 🙂 Xo xo
