Behind The Blog… featuring Jasmine from Jasmine Walker

 Jasmine Walker Blog

Hey Beauty Buddies…

I hope you’re all happy, healthy & settling into February as well as can be? I seem to be gently easing into this month, still a tad confused at how January has managed to slip by so darn quickly. Thankfully this morning I’m feeling rather serene as I look out at a gorgeous view of the (rather chilly) sea with it’s waves lapping up onto the sandy cove… cup of tea in hand (naturally) ready for another day of writing. However before I do anything else I’m thrilled to bits to bring you yet another Behind The Blog post *woo hoo*

As always, if you’re new to Confetti & Curves *friendly wave* and not entirely sure what Behind The Blog is all about*click here* to bring yourself up to speed – you may even find yourself getting involved. The more the merrier I say 😉

So today’s beautiful blogger is the gorgeous Jasmine from her aptly named blog Jasmine Walker. I’ve followed Jasmine’s sophisticated little corner of the interweb for the last few months and have always found myself captivated by her outstanding creativity – if you love fashion & funky photos of extremely beautiful outfits then I can assure you you’ll feel right at home, so do pop over and say hi if you haven’t done so already! Jasmines couture creativity may be soaring but of course there’s something for everyone as she blogs about food, beauty & even vintage tea parties in Singapore!

However enough from me, here’s the lady herself to tell you a little bit more about the girl Behind The Blog…

Jasmine Walker

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Beauty, Fashion, DIY, Food and Life 🙂

What inspired you to start blogging?

My inspiration stemmed from my love of reading and watching other peoples blogs and vlogs, I think that it is amazing that people from all over the world can share whatever they feel like on the internet and that others can view it, I enjoy seeing other people opinions, different styles and just what people in different countries enjoy doing and I wanted to become a part of this community, so all of these people together have inspired me to start my own blog.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

As my blog is still brand new I am yet to suffer from bloggers block, before starting my blog I was very excited to start posting so I wrote all of my ideas down, I am continually adding to these so I think that the best way to avoid bloggers block is to have somewhere to jot down your ideas.

What’s your favourite post to date? *please include link*

At the moment my favourite post is:

http://www.jasminewalker.org/wordpressorg/?p=228

The reason being is that after writing this post I felt I understood a little more the direction and feel that I wanted my blog to have, it was good feeling like this blog was starting to represent me a little more.

Describe your everyday clothes style:

I think that my style would be considered quite feminine, I love vintage style clothing and if the weather allows I will remain in dresses and skirts year round. My everyday look is normally a fit and flare styled dress or skirt paired with a cardigan and black tights if its a little cooler with a pair of ballet flats.

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

1) Jordana best lash extreme
This is a fantastic and inexpensive volumising and lengthening mascara.

2) Blistex Lip Balm
Not a glamorous beauty item but you will never see me leaving the house without it.

3) Maybelline fit me concealer
This is a great concealer, I rarely wear foundation I just put this on the areas that I want covered, set it with some powder and I am good to go.

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

I am only 20, so lets be real life isn’t all that stressful haha, but after a really busy and tiring day a cup of tea and a good book is a sure way to relax me, or if I want to switch off completely watching you tube in bed is a great way to unwind.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

I love quiet Saturday nights, homemade pizza and watching Friends re-runs with my friends or a nice meal along the beach with my boyfriend are some of the ways that I enjoy spending my Saturday nights.

What do you do to relax?

Depending on my mood I will put on a face mask, paint my nails and watch a movie or read a book, if it is hot outside a swim in the ocean is a sure way to leave you feeling relaxed.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

I can’t stop buying lipsticks, my collection is already getting too big for one person yet I still keep buying more.

What was your favourite school subject?

English

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

1) Travel to Europe and anywhere else that I can

2) Swim with dolphins / whales in the wild

3) Learn another language

4) See it snow

5) Learn to cook; I want to master a few great dishes.

Who inspires you?

I have two females that inspire me every day, Audrey Hepburn and Zooey Deschanel, even though Audrey Hepburn isn’t alive anymore the way that she lived her life with such grace and class inspires me. Zooey Deschanel inspires me because she is a female who also dresses and acts very feminine but constantly reminds us that just because you like to wear skirts and dresses and carry around a heart shape bag, doesn’t mean that you are any less strong then anybody else. She is also a very proud and confident feminist and I think that young girls need to have strong females they can look up to.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely” – Roald Dahl

I think that this is the best beauty tip I have ever read.

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Since I have also only recently started I can’t say that I have any tips other then enjoy it, I created this blog for my own enjoyment and if other people like it then that is fantastic, I think that if you are enjoying what you are posting people will enjoy reading it.

  1. Another fab interview, Karen! Jasmine, your blog is lovely. And I must confess my own lipstick collection is getting out of control too. But it’s a problem I’m all too happy to have 😉
